Easiest timer for multitude of tasks
We bought these timers as stocking stuffers for family members several years ago. Everyone loved them and we needed more for new family members. So easy to use and large numbers make it perfect for those with vision problems.

Simple and Straightforward
This timer does not have all the bells and whistles and functions of some, and I've been using it for only a month, but so far it has worked very well for me. It's inexpensive, completely intuitive, and doesn't require reviewing the instructions if you haven't used it in 48 hours. The magnet is also more substantial than it is on some electronic timers; I've broken some simply because I kept knocking them off the refrigerator door. What it does is a little limited, but so far I'd say it's a "5" at what it does do. October 2011: A year-and-a-half later, I'm back to buy another one and would rate this a 5 now if I could change the rating. I use this a lot, including taking it outside. So far, the fact that it has no "off" switch has been no problem. I'm still on the original batteries. No screen burn. The magnet did come off the back, but it's clearly because the magnet is so strong, it attaches to the object it's on. I've reattached it with super glue. Especially in taking it outside, I've dropped it on concrete several times. All the pieces fly apart and the batteries come out. But it's like a safety mechanism since all the parts pop right back together. Now I want another one for upstairs, so I hope I'll luck out again the second time!! July 2013: I've come back to buy my THIRD timer. Judging from what I said above, I bought the first one more than 3 years ago. The first two timers are both working just fine, both on the original batteries. And I use both frequently. One I use twice per day to time medication. The other I use in the kitchen off and on, as well as using it outside to time certain tasks. The magnet I referred to above has stayed on since being super-glued back on. Now I have need for a third one. I glanced at the others that are available but decided it would be silly to second-guess a good thing. I would absolutely give this five stars if I could change my rating. I've had no problems with the first two at all.

a few suggestion for a better timer
received the timer, and i immediately thought of some missing features, and the annoying features. 1. cancel the beeping on every button presses. allows setting the sound volume would be nice. 2. provides a on/off button. letting it ALWAYS-ON is a waste. 3. provides a button for moving the digits up, and another one for moving the digits down. it is silly to go only one direction. a phone, or a watch can do the same timing function. when comes to a dedicated device on the desk, it has to be really functioning and efficient. i looked around on the web immediately, no satisfying products are offering.

Great timer
I purchased two of these timers in March 2010. Two and a half years later and I still use both all of the time. I've bought a couple of other timers since then for some flashy feature or bigger numbers or whatever and I always go back to the CDN timers. Pros: - Large numbers that are easy to see from across the room. - Alarm that is loud enough to hear over the stove exhaust fan from the next room but is not overly obnoxious. - Count up and count down capabilities. I probably use the count up feature as much as the count down. For example, if I'm cooking something on the stovetop, I might want an idea of how long I've had it on there but not have some predetermined amount of time that I want to track. It also makes the timer useful for a variety of other usages (exercise, for example) where you want to time something. - Has a magnet for attaching to metal surfaces plus a little kickstand for sitting it up on a flat surface plus an eyelet for hanging it up. It's surprising how convenient this flexibility is. - Great battery life. Two and a half years later of nearly daily use and I still have the original batteries in both of them. Don't worry about no on-off switch. - Durable. I'm a clumsy guy so I've dropped these a lot and the haven't been damaged at all. I also used one at the gym for a few months and kept it in my gym bag and it survived that. My only complaint is that it only goes up to 100 minutes (technically 99 minutes, 59 seconds). There are roasts and things like that that take hours. That's a fairly minor complaint since I rarely need to time anything longer than 100 minutes and my stove has a timer that does hours if I do.

Quality Not as Good as Older Ones
I bought a new timer to replace one that had worn out from use. Had to return it because it would be counting down the time and would suddenly beep and shut off. Replacement timer seems to be working fine, but it has quirks that my original one did not have: -- Display contrast is too high, making it hard to read at angle. No way to adjust. -- Beep signal is not as loud as my first one. -- Beeps continuously when holding down hour or minute button to set time. My first one was silent when doing the same operation. The constant beepbeepbeep is a bit annoying when setting, say, 60 minutes. Otherwise, it is a good timer. The magnet is strong enough to hold it firmly to the fridge. Had to put a couple little bumpers on the back because the timer does not lay flat against surface, and it's easy to knock it loose when pressing a button.

Easy to read and light to handle.
I purchased the timer for use by someone who is paralyzed with limited use of his arms. This timer is easy to use and easy to read.

waste of money
This timer worked great for five months and then the alarm stopped sounding. No sound when keying in the time, either.

Can't hear it.
Not a bad looking unit, but the right up for this timer said that the alarm was long and loud. What a laugh. You have to put the thing right on your ear to hear it.

Great for Partial Sighted Rubbish for Hard of Hearing
I spent hours looking for an easy to use timer for my Mother as she has difficulty hearing. This unit was actually recommended by a hard of hearing website. It says on the description on here "Loud alarm can be heard in another part of the house" They obviously didn't test it out as even I with good hearing found it really quiet. Total waste of money and only fit for the bin!

Great timer
My partner had one just like it and I wanted one as well to time a variety of activities. It works perfectly and is easy to operate.
