4x4 finally works!
I have a 1999 ford ranger XLT, it came with those pulse vacuum hubs that supposedly go bad after a short time. I got these just to see if they work, and after about 30 minutes i had the old ones off and the new manual hubs on. I went and hit a mud hole and a muddy hill, both of which i got stuck on with the old hubs, and this ranger went right thru it no problem. 4 stars for now, we'll have to see how they hold up

Easy install, sometimes doesn't unlock
I haven't used my 4wd a lot since I installed these, they were a very easy install. My first set was really banged up for shipping so I exchanged them for another set. They lock in just fine but getting them to unlock can sometimes be a pain.

Easy install and fixed my problem
Didn't take long at all to install and I was in serious need of 4x4 for the snow that we where getting. Parked truck in driveway and had them installed in less than 15mins. They are super smooth and even after freezing Temps they go in and out of lock and free so smooth, if you are on the fence about it I say don't be do it and you won't regret it just take your time make sure everything is perfect and they will be perfect

Total Cat's Ass! 1998 Ranger 4x4...
If you have Ford OEM automatic pulse vacuum locking hubs, you're probably running around in three wheel drive half the time and don't even realize it! I replaced mine in a cramped garage with minimal tools in under 90 minutes and two Milwaukee’s Best to assist me. I left the garage after locking both manual hubs in and only used the selector switch on the console to lock and unlock... All I can tell you is “WOW” what a big difference, I probably had been running round Alaska in two and three wheel drive for the past two or three years and didn’t realize it! There’s another post where a gentlemen posted two pictures of the new manual hubs and his hub caps cutout in the center. I didn’t cut my centers out and they snap right on tight without touching the new manual hubs…. FYI

As advertised.
Fit well in the truck. Had to get a replacement because 1 fell out while driving down the road. All seems to be working well now.

Not locking into place properly
The locking tabs on one of the hubs did not catch properly ( I could pull the hub off with my hand ) , I'm a mechanic and my solution for the problem was to heat the tabs until they were soft and put downward pressure on them one by one until they cooled down and hardened again , so far I think it has worked.

Gave confidence back that 4 wheel drive was engaged.
Great product. If you have an older Ford Ranger or Mazda b series with the vacuum pulse hubs, these are a must get. I found out the hard way not to put any trust in the vacuum pulse system: truck on beach, pulling out a boat at low tide. Luckily, after I realized I was only spinning the back wheels, I was able to find someone to pull me out before the tide came in. With these hubs, you know they are locked. The product is well made, very easy to install (many youtube tutorials. I used 5 saber saw blades to pop the old hubs out), and worth every penny.

Just what I needed!
Very easy to install and they restored the 4wd on my 99 Ford Ranger without breaking the bank.

Good quality and easy install
Didn't have to take the wheels off and took less than 30 minutes. I used pieces of welding wire to hold the tabs on the PVH and had no problems. Drives and steers much smoother now (PVH were stuck engaged)
