Anything else isn't worth it
Hardwood, area rugs, tile, carpet--it doesn't matter what surface you have, this works wonders.

More Than Just A Cute Face...
Three years ago I made the decision to hire Henry to help me clean my home. The cleaner I had at the time was a Shark Lift-Away, but after a couple of years some of the parts began to snap off and while it cleaned very well, I wasn’t truly satisfied with it over all. I had heard of Henry before and how they were one of the most popular vacuum cleaners in the UK and wished I could at least try one out. One day while searching on amazon for a new vacuum to replace my Shark I found Henry, and he had been adapted for the American 120 volt requirements. I thought the price was a little too high but I decided to try him anyway because if I didn’t like him I could always return him. Three years later Henry is still helping me keep my home clean to this day with absolutely no problems what so ever. He is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever had. He is super durable (he fell down the stairs one day and didn’t even phase him), he has a tremendous amount of suction that I would say is about the same if not better than a Shop Vac. He is very quiet (I was able to vacuum while my grandmother was taking a nap and didn’t wake her). He has a huge dust bag made of HEPA material, each time I have changed the bag I’ve noticed there is virtually no dust that has leaked through the bag inside of him, and are supplied with three extras in the box. I can go several months without changing the bag and even when packed full, Henry still manages to have great suction. He has a very long, heavy duty 33ft cord. I can clean almost the entire house without having to unplug him, and it stores inside of him with a manual cord winder. The attachment set is fantastic, his hose is 8ft long which is longer than average. He comes with three, heavy duty stainless steel wands, a durable combination floor head, an adapter to fit the tools directly on the hose without using the wands, a soft dusting brush, an upholstery tool with slide on or off stiff bristles, and a crevice tool. I also purchased the optional Airo Brush because I have lots of carpet and it does a fantastic job at getting the dirt and hair out of the carpet. Best of all he has a very cute little face (you have the option of removing it but I don’t really see why you’d want too). Any cons with Henry I would have to say are that he is on the heavy side at 22 pounds but that’s only Henry himself, and you’re not really moving the entire machine around too much like an upright cleaner. After awhile his bag tends to get musty smelling but I found putting a teaspoon of coffee or more in the bag and letting him sit overnight will take care of the smell. All in all I absolutely adore Henry and wouldn’t trade him in for anything. If you are reading this and thinking of hiring Henry to help keep your home clean, give him a try, I’m sure you won’t regret it.

Simply the best vacuum on the market. It out preforms all the others on hardwood, tile, any solid surface floor. I know I’ve tried them all. Also fantastic when I vacuum my 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKII Great Britain Strong!

This is the vacuum for you.
I’ve repaired vacuums and robot vacuums for years. To say that I’m a vacuum enthusiast would be a massive understatement! If you care about filtration, durability, and repairability, Numatic vacuums (Henry) are the correct choice for you. On top of that, they’re made in the UK and have superb build quality. Sure, a shark might be cheaper, but while you’re going through 3-4 units in a span of 6-7 years, your Henry will still be performing as if it was new. Im fond of Dyson’s marketing, but their products don’t fare much better. If you’re considering either a Henry or a Dyson, think about the needs you’re trying to address. A dyson is great for small messes, but I personally care about doing a thorough job when vacuuming. The last thing I want to worry about is the battery life, which in turn, will affect my quality of cleaning. Pro tip: Buy GENUINE replacement bags. It’s not worth ruining your machine and voiding your warranty to save $5-$6.

Henry is a small but mighty vacuum
I grew up with George, the green friend of Henry and loved seeing his smiling face gliding across the floors of my family's cottage in the UK. I'm pleased to say he is still going strong 20 years on! Upon moving to the US recently, I was in the market for a new vacuum cleaner. I wanted something not too expensive, durable, compact, and, most importantly, good at getting rid of cat hair! When I saw that Henry was available on Amazon.com, I couldn't resist. I have to say that I am pleased with his work! My only issues have been that he doesn't take corners very well (he sometimes falls on his side), and his cord does not rewind by itself after use. Nobody's perfect, I suppose.

Henry
We got a Henry after our old Eureka started showing its age after six years of reliable service. I'd just come back from a year in the UK, and our apartment had a Henry in it which I remembered quite liking, so I was pretty pleased when I saw that amazon was selling them and bought one. I have to say though I have mixed feelings for this vacuum after actually using it at home for awhile. First, I was kind of unsettled to notice the plug isn't a three pronged grounded plug, like you might expect, but just a two pronged one. Admittedly, it hasn't caused any electrical problems so far, but it does result in the plug sometimes disconnecting as Henry follows you around, which is pretty annoying. Second, our house has high-pile carpet, and the lack of a rotating brush on the floor adapter means anything that is slightly caught in the fibers of the rug won't get picked up. There is a rotating brush head for the Henry out there, but you have to buy it from the UK, and shipping is ridiculous. Third, as one of the previous reviewers mentioned, the suction power seems to be a lot weaker here than over in the UK. I find myself switching to turbo mode pretty often, which seems kind of a shame since one of the reasons I liked Henry was that it was environmentally friendly. There is still a lot to love about Henry though. It's easy to carry around and very very quiet. I can even vacuum while everyone is sleep and not wake up anyone. I also really love the long cord since it means i can drag it out into the driveway to clean up the cars without having to hunt around for an extension cord. And, although I do sometimes have issues with suction on enviro mode, turbo mode blows all the other vacuum cleaners I've ever used out of the water. Plus, Henry's cheerful smile is really charming, and I often find myself looking forward to cleaning up the house rather than dreading it.

Henry really sucks (in a good way!!)
Very quiet, sucks like a trooper, kind of goofy face on it. If it’s good enough for the cruise ships where they use them day in and day out, it’s good enough for us. I get it!! A bit of a learning curve (my problem) - likes to be pulled not pushed or it falls over. Switching from a Maytag upright is a little frustrating but 10 times easier on the stairs and really cleans the edges like nothing I have used in my vacuuming life. It’s a bit spendy at $459 Canadian but a new motor for the Maytag would have been $200 and I would need to bodge it in myself. Not a problem but I need to justify the expense in my mind. Built like a tank, made in Britain, parts available unlike discontinued models that that can only be repaired with knockoff Asian parts that don't stand up. This thing should last a very long time.

Was good until hose would not stay attached
I bought this vacuum just over a month ago abs have only used it a handful of times. I was great until the hose at both ends kept coming apart at both ends when I was vacuuming. I have taped it but it doesn’t stay long and I have to re tape it to finish vacuuming.
