Basic, solid set -- cheap case
You'll get what you see, which is a solid, basic, larger-size T&D set. Other reviewers have complained about the case quality, and I'll second those concerns (nice looking T&Ds, but in the cheapest-looking case one could imagine). Quickly repaired (re-threaded) a messed up foundation bolt.

Very handy set to have laying around
The product was inexpensive but I thought I would give it a try based on the reviews. There was only one job a tap was needed for so if the kit worked on that job I would be happy. The tap in question did work fine on the required job. Then since the kit was setting there I began to use it one every old rusty hole in the car I am working on. I felt a real sense of accomplishment reaming out all those old rusty holes that I would have just forced a bolt into with a 1/2 inch ratchet before. I was really impressed to discover there was a vertical style tool for the taps because at first all I saw was the horizontal style. That tool does not work in tight spaces so a crescent wrench was being used on those taps until I spotted the little baby vertical tool. I would recommend this kit without reservation for the price.

Great set of Taps and Dies
Neiko while being a cheaper alternative tends to put out a halfway decent quality product and these seem to continue in that assessment. The cut quality of the threads are clean and precise. The taps and dies seem to be quality made and hold their edge after several uses no problem. The tap wrench is a bit cheap feeling and it's build quality is less than great but other than that I'd recommend.

This is a good set of tap and dies upon inspection. I would rate them above average, but not amazing. The first thing I did with this set and what everybody should do, is inspect every tap and die to make sure there are no defects and that all sizes are present. All sizes were present, and I did not notice any defects visible to the eye. They are advertised as having a brazed titanium coating, I am not an expert and cannot verify this claim. I have another Neiko set of Metric taps and dies and they all have a yellowish tint to them on much of the tool, these meanwhile are all grey/silver. I am no metallurgy expert so can't judge the product based on this alone. There is at least one inconsistency. The sizes on most taps are engraved, while others are etched? It seems unrelated to the size of the tap so not sure what's going on. Maybe they're newer or older taps that have been mixed in. Speaking of the engraving, on some of the dies it's a bit messy. Still forgivable at this price point and considering the overall quality of the tools. The case is not great. The taps are subject to a lot of movement and may roll over each other in shipping which is not ideal. At this price point it's forgivable, but I would not use this as a mobile set and leave it in the garage. The dies seem to remain in place just fine. This is my second set of Neiko taps and dies. I own a larger set specifically in Metric size, and it is definitely of higher quality than this. The price did reflect that however. This set is more of a general use set for smaller fasteners that is perfect for home mechanics or perhaps a pro who wants to supplement a more expensive set. One thing worth noting, Neiko's warranty is far from impressive. It's 30 days for almost all of their tools. That said, tap and dies are consumables and generally are repurchased periodically anyway. I don't see any reason this should steer you away from the product. Neiko is known for making quality tools, even if the warranty is far from competitive. Just make sure you inspect the tools upon arrival! Overall, these are above average. I've certainly seen worse taps and dies at budget stores, and think I will get good usage out of these. I will update my review if they don't hold up. Use cutting oil for best results.

Surprised by how good they turned out
I needed a cheap set of tap and dies and these fitted my budget. I wasn't expecting fantastic quality or super long life, I just needed something to start with and the plan is to replace breakages or the "really bad quality" with something better as the need arose. I had one project in mind when I purchased the set and as soon as it arrived I got straight to it. On opening the box I was a little disappointed as expected the smaller size dies to be 1 inch and the larger ones 1.5inch, (the smaller dies are 1.5" and the bigger ones 2"), not the end of the world for an experienced engineer but still now I had to rethink my statergy. My project required me to thread a 1/2-20 arbor, which needed to be dead square to the angle of rotation. It took 2 attempts to get the thread square and about 1/3 along the shank the die bound up so bad I was worried it would break. I had read reviews commenting on the brittleness of the tools and I was worried that I had got myself in to one of those situations where I could no longer cut but backing up would chip the cutting edge due to brittleness. I worked the tool very gently back and forth until the die was "free". Ultimately I cut the thread I desired and I am very pleased with the result. My final comment is, if you can afford to by top quality then do not even consider these products. Top quality products will still fail under abuse but these cheap products do not tolerate any type of mishandling.

Had just what I needed
I purchased a couple of saddle bag locking levers for my Harley Davidson motorcycle however disappointingly, the levers although coming with mounting screws were not tapped (why would Harley Davidson sell a product like this? But that's for another discussion). I didn't have a 8/32 tap, so I had to purchase the Neiko Tap and Die set to tap the locking levers. The levers were made of cast aluminum so the 8/32 tap sliced through it like a hot knife through butter. Was able to do it without a vice which was nice because I don't have one. The kit is very nicely put together with a storage case and is high quality. I am sure this will last me the rest of my life for any future times where I might need to tap a screw hole.

Alta calidad a bajo costo
Una de las preocupantes diarias del taller es tener tornillos y tuercas las cuales entren en las medidas deseadas por lo tanto este set no resolver la vida día a día por el costo beneficio es un gran campeón ya que es de alta calidad Y no resuelve la problemática que nos podemos enfrentar al no tener una cuerda necesaria en el tornillo necesario sin duda lo recomiendo al 100% para su compra, podrán encontrarse un poco más caros o más lujosos pero sin duda este puede hacer todas las tareas que usted disponga

nice set for the money
you can't really go wrong with this tap/ die set - ok for the novice do it yourselfer. it got a 3 star as the case is the worst thing about it. cheap blown plastic that allows taps to fly everywhere if not carried level and gently. kind of a pain. it is good for the money and the selection of pieces that come with it. do not expect best quality, but will get you out of a pinch if you need a variety pack, but not use every day.

Damaged Taps and Dies
Most of the dies were damaged during the manufacturing process. The finishing side of the dies had teeth that were bent before the hardening and titanium nitriding process. They were probably tossed into a bucket before they were hardened. The taps were a little better. Some had deformed teeth and a few were chipped after the titanium coating was applied. Tap and die set was returned for a refund.

there will be great value in this purchase
Overall, there will be great value in this purchase, though I have only used one tap at this time, and it worked fine. The order was processed and delivered very quickly. The plastic case that the set comes in looks to be the weak point. I think that opening the latches and hinge in cold weather or over time will fail, but I kind of expected that when I placed the order. Time will tell.

Not that crusty, decent stuff
It was as good as I expected for the price, Neiko fills a spot in the tool market for the home gamer that doesn’t want total garbage. For occasional home use this product will fit the bill.
