Form over function

The Echo CS-10 is a good-looking little Nerf rifle- but its looks are the best thing about it. It does assemble into a sturdy package, and has a lot of customization potential with four rails around the barrel assembly. You can also leave the forend off for a short blaster, or leave the stock off for something more maneuverable; you can even just use the central receiver as an oversized pistol or SMG-style gun. But you might not shoot many bulls-eyes with this blaster. There are basically no useable sights to speak of, and what there are, aren't positioned so as to give a good sight picture. One is a little sight blade on top of the cocking handle (which, like many recent Nerf designs, is actually on top of the receiver); the other, a blade at the end of the barrel. But the position of the cocking grip effectively blocks the front sight, making it hard to line them up unless you hold the gun below your eyeline. This is compounded by the way the comb of the stock (i.e. where you rest your cheek when aiming) is higher than the rest of the gun, not lower as is standard on a rifle. The only way to aim is eyeballing the barrel, lining it up with the target, and hoping its pointed atthe right height to hit something. This aiming method isn't a problem when aiming at something as big as another person at fairly close range, but it's far from ideal for target shooting. Even mounting a scope on the forend doesn't help much, since it's still below the eyeline. Practice will help judging your aim, no doubt, but it should be easy to aim out of the box. The mechanism is simple; open the action, load the magazine, close the action and fire; repeat working the cocking grip to load and fire your full magazine. To unload, leave the action open, push the button and remove your magazine. This action has the drawback that you can't insert or remove the magazine without cocking the gun, and once its loaded, it's automatically cocked- unlike some of the revolver-action Nerfs. But, since this is standard with the slide-action Nerf design, I guess it's a feature, not a bug. The gun has dramatic styling, leaning to the futuristic. It goes together well with the rest of the Elite 2.0 line, giving you a distinctive theme if you carry multiple blasters to your Nerf battles. This is an attractive blaster, and the barrel extension seems to give it a good range. It's only too bad that the design of the stock makes it hard to shoot with too much accuracy. One of the accessory Nerf stocks might be a better substitute, but will break up the look of the gun. It's an example of form (stylish design) over function (aiming ability), but it's still an acceptable blaster and a good price. If you like the looks, give it a try.

It's ok...

Gun looks good, puts together easy. the loading mechanism is easy enough to do for my kid who is 7. Not the most accurate thing but it's a nerf gun. Has some decent zip to the shots. Main complaint for me is the magazine. At least the release button on mine is tough to release the clip. 7 year old can't do it. Sure is just a slightly faulty one that I got. Second thing about the clip is the spring in it is pretty weak and leads to the gun jamming sometimes. Overall ok gun except for my clip release issue.

A little clunky

This item works ok and was as advertised but in order to load or unload it the bolt has to be pulled back.

Accurate and shoots a good distance.

I received the gun with all the darts advertised and all parts of the gun. The barrel and the stock fit perfectly on this gun and some of my other guns. The magazine is compatible with all of my guns that use one. I ran some tests on the gun for accuracy and how well it shoots and reloads. It's got some decent accuracy, but shoots farther and more accurate without the barrel attached. Sometimes when you shoot it, the magazine will randomly fall out, which is probably not good. It shoots pretty smoothly. It's compatible with slam fire, steady shots, or even, if you think you're skilled enough, is compatible with bursts. The reset button functions well and makes it easier to get a jam out than most guns. To conclude, this gun functions well (except for the magazine falling out) and shoots well. I would buy it again.

Watch Your Back…..

Bought this for our 8 year old grandson for Christmas. It was on his wishlist. He unwrapped it and was overjoyed….according to him, it’s the best gift ever. It comes with ammunition, but not nearly enough to satisfy your average 8 year old. We found a huge set of ammo on Amazon for a great price to add to the gift. Good thing! Grandson was shooting all over our house, patio, and at his siblings and appreciated the extra bullets. Some adults may object to this type of toy, but our little guy is still having a literal blast weeks after Christmas. Is a fun way to improve coordination. And made his day. Great price, too!

Great for softly pelting husband

I bought this in response to my spouse buying an "A SALT GUN" for killing flies inside. I warned him things would escalate and of course they did because I then bought this nerf gun. Happily, this gun is really accurate with its weird little rounds, which is surprising to me, but a great bonus. It enables me to apply annoying distraction with great precision Also note that spouse is in the military: I am not. So clearly nerf has compensated for my lack of range skill. This nerf gun is a great upgrade from the bottle caps I used to throw at him during our work day, and it is both amusing to me and irritating as heck to my target. Adding just a bit of hilarity to my day by launching surprise attacks on my significant other is a fun break from the COVID induced delirium of working from home with your spouse in a 40 sqft area for almost three years. 10/10 would recommend

Why the 3 star review? I only leave 4 star if the product is exceptional and 5 star if it is out of this world! From 2023 onwards, very few of my reviews moving forward get 5 stars. For me three star is the item is acceptable and I would purchase again. Item was a gift. Met expectations. The kid who got it loved it.
