It’s pretty amazing …especially at this price.
This motor runs a great distance on a single 100Ah LiFePo4 battery. Works perfectly in salt water. It gets my 10’ RIB dinghy moving up to 4 mph. You’re not going to get your dinghy to plane with this, but you’ll be able to easily lift it with one arm, is small and easy to stow, it’ll never need maintenance, oil, nor gas. Add a rechargeable battery and go.

Surprised how powerful and quite it is. I use it for fishing mounted on a 14ft Jon boat on a 10 acre pond. Would highly recommend.

Great purchase
I use this on my zodiac that weighs 75 pounds. It's connected to a wieze 50 ah lifepo4. With no wind or current I'm getting close to 5 mph. The gas engine it replaced would push the boat 25 mph but took 30 minutes to start and cost hundreds in maintenance per year. This is a win of a purchase for me

Fits nicely on a 15" transom inflatable
I have a Seamax 380 inflatable and have put the 24" shaft 55 lbs. Kayak model on it. This boat takes a 15" outboard with a transom that is actually 15" itself. This kayak motor fits nicely and the propeller unit sits well below the waterline. Still have to test it on the water, but it is low and compact on the inflatable making it easy to control while sitting on the inflated pontoons which is how I use the boat. The handle extension is well designed and probably will mean no additional handle extension will be needed, though I have one in the boat for the gas motor. I admit to not liking the longer shafts as they stuck up too high on the transom and caught fishing lines when standing and fly casting. This lower-profile motor looks to be a much better fit for fishing from a small boat. I'm using a 75ah battery with it but don't know what the battery life will be; it will probably be more than adequate as the motor will be used for short periods, probably ca. 2-3 hours at a time, at a fairly low speed on a lake that does not permit gas motors. The motor is light, ca. 23 lbs., which is a real treat compared to the 4 stroke 87 lb. Tohatsu I use on the boat otherwise. The gray color fits very nicely with the gray inflatable as well. The only apparent disadvantage is that the control unit is not waterproof and has to be protected from rain and moisture. This is a bit of a pain if you store the boat outside as I do so I'm working on finding the right motor cover for it. Right now it's plastic bags and an extra outboard cover fitted over the control unit and incidentally the depth finder next to the motor.

Great 55lb. thrust motor, perfect for a canoe!
I wanted to motorize my canoe so I could reach more spots quickly, and also do some upriver trips. My canoe (16 ft. Old Town Saranac) is a tank, and not the most efficient. However, even loaded down with two adults, a couple dogs, ice chest, fishing gear, and a 100AH lithium iron battery, this motor pushes it along nicely. I've done a few 3-4 hour trips with mixed speeds and have come back with the battery at over 70%! Top speed is around 5.5mph at max, but loaded down heavy. For a single person I'm sure I could hit 6mph. I ended up extending the wires so I could put my battery in the center of the canoe, and adding a quick disconnect between the motor and battery. This makes it much easier to disconnect without 10 feet of cable hanging off the motor. The only con I can think of is that at high speed there is some vibration. It doesn't seem to impact performance at all, but hopefully it doesn't become a problem. For now, I'm thoroughly happy with the motor!

Great trolling motor with superior customer service by Newport Vessels!
I bought the Newport Vessels 55 lb. trolling motor on 12/2/2019 for my Lifetime Sport Fisher angler kayak. It’s mounted to the kayak using the Lifetime kayak trolling motor mount made specifically for this kayak sold separately. Powered by a 114-amp hour Everstart Maxx deep cycle marine battery, this Newport Vessels trolling motor provides plenty of power, doesn’t consume a lot of watts, and can troll for hours on the slower speed settings (1-3). At speeds 4-5, your battery range goes down considerably, but that’s true of any trolling motor. It’s quite heavy, so it doesn’t feel flimsy. I usually take it out on the bay, and it handles quite well. I also installed a Bullnose rudder to help improve tracking since the Sport Fisher tracks like a battleship. However, I’d trade stability over speed any day of the week. There’s a battery level display on the trolling motor handle itself, but I wouldn’t put too much faith in it. I also have a battery meter on my Minn Kota Power Center battery box. Starting with a fully charged battery, I’ve never run out of juice! After taking it out a total of four times, I noticed that the motor no longer went in reverse! I had to go to Newport Vessels’s website to seek product support. I immediately received an email response asking me to file a warranty claim. Newport Vessel’s customer service and warranty department are second to none. After sending them proof of purchase, pictures of the motor, and a description of the problem, Newport Vessels completely took care of me. This type of confidence in their products and outstanding customer service is rare in today’s market. My faith in Newport Vessels has been restored, and they’ve earned a lifetime customer.

Great unit
My son and his friends used this motor (55lb, 24" shaft) on a 16' jon boat. Pushed it across the lake at 4+ mph. For the price and ease of use you cannot go wrong. I used it with an 850CCA automotive battery, barely used any battery in 2 days. It would keep up with a 2hp gas motor. Note: it comes with spade type battery connectors. I switched them to 3/8" eye connectors so they could be connected to the battery. Pick up a battery box and good to go.
