Works great if you can find the right size
After 6 orders and 5 returns, I found one that fit me. I used it while snorkeling in Hawaii and it worked great. Here are my insights regarding the sizing issue - 1. These do run extremely small; you should order two sizes larger than you are and 2. the manufacturing process is inconsistent (ie poor quality control), so that two shirts of the same listed size (s, m, l, etc.) may be significantly different in actual fit. I am 5’10 and 155 lbs, and am a solid “medium” in shirts. I am an active snorkeler and have worn rash guards for years, so I know when it’s a tight fit because rash guards are meant to be a tight fit as opposed to when it’s just too small. I ordered a long sleeve and short sleeve versions of the rash guard in medium size and they were so small, I literally could not pull it over my shoulders. So I returned those and bought the same rash guards in a large size. Those were similarly too small and I had to return both shirts. I finally ordered extra large versions of those shirts, and when I received them, the short sleeve version was an appropriate tight fit (as rash guards are meant to be) but the long sleeve version in the same size was actually too big. I kept the short sleeve version and returned the long sleeve version. So, trying to order the right size of this rash guard is as much a matter of luck as anything, but my recommendation is to start 2 sizes larger than what you normally wear.

These seem to last longer than competitors.
This rash guard fits an athletic physique, is well made - has great stitching so it lasts long, and provides good sun protection. I get one size smaller - then it fits snug and doesn’t trap a bunch of bubbles during my Masters swimming workouts. Great product. I like the short sleeve.

Run small but great!
Go up two sizes. I’m a medium in mens and got a medium. It ‘fits’ but I feel like someone vacuum sealed me and I just managed to punch my arms out of the bag. The hems are tiiiight- I’m not incredibly swole or anything, but it’s very tight on my lil baby biceps.

Don’t bother with “swim shirts”
I’ve been looking for a couple years for an ideal “swim shirt”. I’ve bought a few that were marketed specifically as men’s swim shirts; designed to be worn in our out of the water to protect from the sun. These typically are baggy T-shirts made of fitness apparel material and flop and wave while in the water and then get really heavy and uncomfortably snug when out of the water (like wearing a weighted shirt). This shirt however wears like a wet suit; tight like a second skin which doesn’t twist and shift when getting in and out of the water. Comfortable to swim in and doesn’t get in the way, and dries nicely when out of the water. I thought black might be a mistake because it would bake in the sun, but when wet, the evaporation has a nice cooling effect. Excellent sun protection too, I’ve spent hours in the hot July sun without a burn to show for it. My one knock on the shirt is that the sleeves aren’t very stretchy- I am by no means a muscular man but the sleeves get uncomfortably tight after a while. I wear a size L T-shirt and ordered this in L as well and it’s the perfect fit. It’s SUPPOSED to be tight, beer belly or not!

Was shipped and arrived quickly and seems like decent quality however the sizing chart was way off and it’s way too small.

Great for snorkeling/swimming - not meant to be a casual shirt
When I first put this on after receiving it, I thought it was a bit tight, and the bottom was too long as I had to bunch it up around waist just above the top of my swim trunk. It definitely felt a bit restrictive moving around. I was very close to returning it. However, my opinion surprisingly changed after snorkeling with it for a couple of weeks: - The tight fit is actually a blessing... as I swim & snorkel, it felt like a second skin; it stays in place even under strenuous movements under water, facilitating easy & wide ranging degree of freedom of movement. I had another brand that's much looser fitting, and I constantly had to pull it down and smooth it during my in/underwater activities. - It dries very quickly in the tropical sun. - Quality of the stitching is excellent, even after stretching it beyond normal usage while "ripping" it off my body while it was still soaking wet. - It provides great SPF protection - after snorkeling for 2 hours more or less continuously with my back exposed to the sun on the ocean's surface, my back has not sign of sun burn. Bottom line is that this swim/snorkel/surf shirt is designed to be used as designated in it's namesake, not meant to be a casual shirt that flops in the breeze

Good if you have slender frame and like a skin tight fit
The reason I can't give this O'Neill rash guard a higher rating is because it is not true to size. Being 6ft, 150lbs with kinda slim frame, I typically wear medium size. From other reviews, I decided to get large and while the fit was good in upper body, it is really tight in the mid and abdomen region. I know many like the skin-tight look, but feel this would best suit those with really slim builds. While the material does stretch a bit, I still felt it was too tight in the bottom torso area. The material is also not quick dry, so it takes a while out of the water before you dry off. For the price, I can't recommend this rash guard as there are likely better options available.

Super tight
Like other reviewers have said, order about 3 sizes larger. I'm a medium so I ordered a XXL. It is still too tight but I could make do as it is tight to get on but not uncomfortable to wear. I'd order a size larger but this is the biggest I could get. The quality looks quite good.

Sizing is totally off, manufacturing defect
There's definitely something defective with the sizing: 1. I'm a very consistent medium. I've actually even lost 25 lbs so I'm actually on the lean side of medium right now (6 feet tall, 153 lbs). No word of a lie, this feels like a small, I could barely put it on. 2) Here's why I know for sure there's something defective (aside from the multiple users complaining it's waaay small), the sizing is inconsistent. Size reads as a U.S. medium, UK 3XL and EU 50. That is NOT the correct conversion. A U.S. M is supposed to be a UK M. I bought another O'Neil shirt today and it had the correct conversion on the shirt. Bottomline, this seems to be a manufacturing defect.
