Answer to a toilet nightmare

If you didn’t know, for some stupid reason our local hardware stores do not sell this item. I wouldn’t have known about it if I had t watched a video on replacing a toilet flange. Whoever installed the toilet put it too low so I was always tripling my wax rings and trying different solutions. This flange extender solves the problem of bringing your flange up to your tile level so you get a good seal. If you can replace your wax ring then you can install this.

use good quality silicone to mate the surfaces together.

I used this because the old toilet that I took out was on cement surrounded by tile. the new toilet could sit on top of the tile so I used this. I used silicone to attach the existing flange to this product. I saw a utube video on it. Before this I thought I had to rip out the tile but not so with this product. I put in a kohler cimmaron toilet. great product got from home depot. Great toilet. It was kinda fun to do.

Great little spacer.

Ordered this for a bathroom remodel to get the flange flush with the new tile. Worked perfectly and for a great price.

smells like poop still, one size flange, just spend a little extra and get the set-right flange. this uses the exhisting bolt / flange and itn't going to cut the mustard.

Oatey 43645 Closet Flange Spacer Kit, 1/2-Inch

This adapter kit worked perfectly to make the existing toilet flange level with the new tile floor in our bath. Thankfully it is a pretty simple design and relatively easy to figure out how to install, because the instructions for this kit are extremely poor, being just a black and white drawing on the package showing the spacer ring being sandwiched between the two rubber gaskets. Other than being listed in the package contents, there is absolutely no mention of the two plastic wedge shaped shims included or any explanation as to what they are to be used for, so I will just assume they are to level the toilet base with the floor if needed. Luckily I didn't need to use them for my installation anyway. I'm only giving this kit 4-stars because of the lousy instructions, but overall it worked as designed and was also one of the more affordable toilet flange adapter kits available, so I feel it was well worth the purchase price. Update: I contacted Oatey tech support and they confirmed that the plastic wedges are indeed to shim the toilet base if necessary. They also recommended applying a bead of silicone caulking between each layer of the adapter used, except for the top where the wax ring will be installed.
