Product stops back water like a champ! I wish they made this product for sds or thin walled pvc from drainage but I just adapted my installation to work with this product

This valve is a little bulkier than the picture can ...

This valve is a little bulkier than the picture can really show so be aware of that. It works exactly as it should. The only fault I have found is that the gate can warp if you run really hot water through it. I have it installed in a brewery between a floor drain and leach bed to prevent the sewer gases from floating back into the brewery. While chilling the beer down, the dump water can get up to 180 degrees F which is apparently too hot. I was able to fix the gate but the product doesn't clearly indicate a temperature rating. For most applications, this would not be an issue.

Gets obstructed easy

Used this for a pond overflow. Worked great to prevent back flow from rain water. Well made fittings for sure, but gets obstructed by any debris stuck by the flapper.

Great product

This valve is exactly as stated and well designed and built. Very easy to work with, fit and finish were perfect. It's tough to get excited by this as it's something that when you need it, you NEED it! I wouldn't hesitate to use Oatey products in any of my projects, stay away from the blue or orange box stores and get the quality/price here.

Flapper piece broke after just 6 days use!

Flapper piece broke after just 6 days use! The overall design and shape of the unit is great, but the material of the flapper hinge really needs to be stronger. The whole unit is worthless if the flapper keeps breaking. EDIT: After contacting Oatey, they FedEx'd me 2 flappers at no charge. Excellent support, so that's good, and I'm adding a star.. But I still would like the hinge part to be stronger. I'm going to try to re-inforce the thin plastic rod piece before re-installation to prevent the same kind of break.

Nice simple backwater valve

Bought this to install as part of a basement bathroom install. Looks almost exactly like the existing one I had in place for the furnace drain.
