Sturdy and Deep

I was very pleased to find these bowls because I had one of these bowls that I used for years. I don't know how I even acquired it but it ended up being my go to bowl for just about everything. Unfortunately it ended up with a crack in it where it looks like it got dropped which wasn't a huge deal, it wasn't bad, and it was still holding everything we needed so we kept using it. What killed it was taking it out of the fridge and then almost immediately putting it under hot water to wash it which made it pretty much tear itself apart. As surprised as I was in the moment because it just cracked and twisted and broke apart in my hands I can't say I shouldn't have expected that result given what I had just done and that it was already cracked. I wasn't going to replace it because I have other bowls in my house but after using some other bowls I realized what I liked so much about this one. It's not the cheap thin plastic that a lot of these white generic bowls are and feels sturdier when mixing things into it (although it also makes it more brittle with temperature extremes as I found out). I like the non slip base as well. The thing I missed the most though and why I decided to look for a replacement ended up being the shape. I like that these are taller and deeper than they are wide. I have a nice set of nesting glass bowls that are well, more bowl shaped, which is great for some things but I find they take up way too much space in the fridge. I will be careful with this new bowl to not subject it to opposite temperature extremes and I'm betting it will last me many years like the previous one did. Very glad I glanced at the bottom of the bowl before throwing out the pieces so I could end up replacing it. I also like that this came with 3 bowls for a very reasonable price. Turns out I only had the largest of the bowls so I'm excited to also have the smaller ones now.

This is my second set of Oggi Mixing Bowls and I really like them. The sizes are good--perfect for almost everything you do in the kitchen from mixing up cakes or brownies to throwing in a bag of popcorn. They stack very easily, the color is neutral, and the quality is solid. Our last set we dishwashed for 10 years without any discoloration. I also like that they are plastic, not glass, but a good quality plastic such that they are sturdy. My only two comments are that first because they are that ceramic kind of plastic, they will break if dropped on the ground or if hit with heavy objects. I have broken 1 or 2 when unloading them from my dishwasher and I lost my grip and they fell on the ground. They won't break if they take a little tumble, but if they take a direct fall from the counter hit, they break in half (though they don't shatter, which is nice). Also, the stay-grip bottoms are a nice feature to keep from sliding, but when I put them in my pantry, the gripping bottom sticks to the wood shelf and, if I leave them there for a week with Easter Candy in them or something similar, they will actually be slightly stuck to my pantry shelves such that I have to give them a tug to get them off, then sometimes they leave a slight residue/discoloration on my wood pantry shelves that has to be wiped off. I wouldn't let this keep me from buying them again, but because of this I typically do not use them in my pantry but rather keep them in a cupboard and use them for baking and such rather than for holding bags of nuts, pretzels, etc. as a "storage container." Overall a solid product for a good price that does what it is supposed to do and will last for a significant amount of time even with regular use and trips through the dishwasher.

Good but thin.

Good bowls. Perfect sizes and nice quality, but they are pretty thin. Small one lasted longer than I anticipated but just threw it away because of a big crack. Always hand-washed and never dropped. Don't know how it got there. Had them about a year.

Almost as good as my Copco of past...

There are 3 bowls in each order and they are quite functional with a pouring spout, easy to hold, non-slip, and sturdy appearance. I compared them to my one left over Copco bowl from years ago and found them pretty equal though they are thinner than my older bowl. I hope they last me as long as my previous Copco set which I really loved. I haven't dropped one so I don't know how it would fare but find them very adequate for the purpose as a mixing bowl. I like that they are more solid than other plastic bowls which seem to be more pliable and may lose shape. I questioned how many bowls came in the 1 order because of the poor write-up description of this item.

These bowls feel like old, but work like new

The bowls are sturdy and durable. I bought the bowls to complement and replace a set of mixing bowls my wife and I had received as a wedding gift over three decades ago. I found one bowl to replace the one I broke, and liked the composition of the bowls, that I decided to order another set. Just in case. :)

So Far So Good

We do a lot of home cooking and baking and these are so much easier to use and clean compared to the bulky and heavy Pyrex bowls. Great especially when making batches of breads, rolls and other baked goods for weighing out all the dry ingredients together to add to the mixer. I use one size for the measuring and another for the rising of the doughs. Just wouldn't recommend to use them if I were using a hand held electric mixer. Don't think they would hold up well against the metal beaters of that.
