BLACK+DECKER Tool Organizer - Stackable Caddy and Organizer... "You can never be too rich or have too much storage" --me I was happy to put this B&D organizer set to use. The title says crafts or tools but I am a wild & crazy guy so I used this off-label and put some fishing tackle in it. My thoughts: ++I like the Black & Decker brand. My general experience is pretty good brand quality for a pretty good price. Much better than generic brands which are real hits and misses IMO. ++Good quality/design - build quality and design are good here. The unit feels well made, thoughtfully designed with useful compartments, and in general is nice to use. ~~Other thoughts: I am not crazy about the black/turquoise color scheme. At current price of $40, I think this is pretty good for what you get from a reputable brand. 4-STAR rating by me in consideration of price/value/choices.

Loads of Flexible, Tote-able Storage - But Watch Your Fingers!

Black + Decker has long made good quality tools and accessories for the home owner (they focus on the average home owner, not the super hero DIYer or the prosumer, meaning you get a good, functional, basic product for a good price that will do what you need it to do...not build the next wonder of the engineering world). This is a great addition to that lineup, a multi-purpose toolbox and caddy that's bigger in person (and in what it can fit) than it appears in the listing so take those measurements seriously if you have limited space! (The measurements are correct in the listing, I was just for some reason expecting something slightly smaller - I have plenty of space so for me this was a pleasant surprise, but your mileage may vary.) The caddy is super flexible with lots of different size and shape storage spaces in both the top and bottom unit - they do click together easily though REMOVING the bottom caddy can be a bit finicky until you get the hang of it. It's not hard, but I definitely pinched my fingers the first couple of times so be careful and you'll be fine. All the lids and covers and latches are reasonably easy to work (excepting the finger pincher as noted) and keep the storage places closed when you want them closed. The unit is plastic of course, but has a durable feel to it - it's not the thinnest plastic in the world, not by a long shot, and should hold up reasonably well to bumps and scrapes the average homeowner/crafter/user might subject it to. I plan to use it for tools around the house and garage but I could also see that with some of the smaller storage spaces/varying sizes, it could be good for crafting too. The clear panels give you a good look at what's inside without having to open everything and the blue on black is a nice touch that gives it some visual interest vs being plain black but not enough to really stand out which is sort of the right mix for a toolbox in my opinion. So if you're looking for a versatile toolbox/caddy for around the house for a good price and don't need something that looks like it came from a true construction side, give this one a try - you won't regret it!

Spacious and sturdy

This tool organizer from BLACK+DECKER has plenty of storage options. I ordered it to replace an old, broken plastic toolbox. The plastic has the rigid strength needed for storing and carrying hammers, wrenches and screwdrivers. The dividers are removable, which lets me create the spaces I need for the tools I have. Being able to separate the top from the bottom is nice because I won't have to lug the whole heavy box to my project area. The latches are firm when in place, but fairly easy to unlatch too. I also like the width, which allows me to get to tools easier when they are not stacked deeply, but more spread out. It's a smart design that's a little pricey, but overall worth it.

Tough roomy box, side latches difficult to open

This is a tough roomy box made of #5 polypropylene plastic (although not as tough as ABS plastic). It is definitely tough enough for use as a crafts box and likely fine for use as a tool box if not overloaded. I like that the top box cover can be opened from either side or removed entirely, and that the compartment dividers are removable and reconfigurable. However I found the side latches to be extremely difficult to pull open but they will probably loosen up with repeated use.

Not for everyone

So I really liked the idea of this for a household tool caddy with a tray below for hardware most commonly used around the house and tiny spare part bits. The top tool box is big and there is one divider in it. That's it. It's deep enough to hold a lot of stuff but you'd be rummaging around to find it all if it was even 2/3 full. Kind of wasted space. There ought to be a tray in the main toolbox. On the lid are two small compartments- one divided the long way and the other short sections. I like the bottom section and if it wasn't for the wonky top section I think it'd be a suitable household tool caddy.

Large size, easy to use compartments

This organizer is a large size, and holds a lot of small items. There is a large compartment in the top, and then the bottom has smaller compartments. The bottom part is super hard to get off. I had to put it on its side, at a certain angle, and use both of my thumbs to push one of the latches open. Otherwise, this is a great organizer. The plastic is strong, and it appears to be high quality. I ordered it to store craft items that I used to make resin projects.

Love this organizer!

I got this for my daughter to put her painting supplies in to keep them organized and I wouldn't be lying if I said I had to force myself to actually let her have this for her things. This is one of the nicest storage organizers I've come across. SOOOOO many uses. Very sturdy too.
