I had recently purchased two other openers (at other stores) with no satisfaction. I went in search of the can opener I remember from my youth and I found it...Swing-A-Way is by far superior to any others I have had in many, many years.

Swing-A-Way & Tuck-A-Way!
Growing up, my mother always had an electric can opener, front & center in her kitchen workspace. As an adult setting up my own kitchen, I opted for the Swing-A-Way for its “Tuck-A-Way” convenience. Turned out, I learned that can opening was just as easy with my hand-held as with my mother’s counterspace-hogging electric. Forty years and two Swing-A-Ways later, I’ve finally replaced my second that still opened cans but needed a little extra oomph to pierce the lid. My new one is easy on the hands with an even softer grip than the last one. Piercing a can takes only slight pressure and then with an easy-turn handle, the blade glides around the lid with smooth precision. It’s a workhorse in a pony size. Worth every penny.

This works well but is lighter than older versions. I don't know if this will impact how long it lasts.

Took away one star for making them overseas now....
...but it works like the one in your mom's kitchen drawer. Easy to crank, doesn't jam up. Can openers have been around for 100 years, you'd think making them would be idiot proof, but I guess not. This one works better than any others I've had recently.

Great quality, inexpensive and heavy duty 10/10
I searched high & low for a well built, sturdy and comfy can opener and kept ending up with cheaply made ones that hurt to squeeze. This one is a little shorter than the average can opener so it feels better to hold. It reminds me of the kind of can openers we had in the 90s. You know, the really heavy duty ones. 10/10

The best!
This is my second one. First one went with my ex when we split up. After that, I got an electric opener, it was OK but not good with big cans. Found this one again. Glad the handles are still green after more than a couple of decades... Easiest can opener I ever owned. Cans almost open by themselves. Don't hesitate, it works like magic.

The Only Can Opener Worth Buying
This is the only can opener you should buy. Seriously, it works great and opens cans like they did in the old days. My mother and our family used this can opener in the 80s and through the 90s and when I moved out I took our old can opener with me. It always worked so well. it was this same brand. But one day I moved and didn’t take it with me and I regretted it ever since... so I bought a few really bad can openers. From the can opener failing to work from piercing metal shavings in my food, I threw out the bad can openers because I did not want to die. This can opener perhaps saved me from getting several pieces of metal in my throat and subsequently getting an infection that could choke me to death. This really is a good can opener and it does what many others cannot do: safely open cans!

Easy to turn
This is the best can opener I have ever had. I have had many can openers of various brands. Most were hard to turn. One fell apart after being used only half a dozen times. Some were also hard to get started. The Swing-A-Way is easy to start and turns easily and smoothly.
