Withstand wet snow in Switzerland

Bought this for switzerland xmas trip. It was drizzling constant with a mix of rain and snow. I stayed dry and warm the whole trip. I onky wore a thin t-shirt kind of long sleeve under this with a regular jogger.

Not waterproof- NOT REAL GORE TEX!

I bought two of these one small, and one medium. The medium was very big and since they were on sale and I bought better fitting small for when I go to work and use the medium for walking and gardening. The medium is the one I have the photographs of here, it is over sized and it’s down to below probably my lower shins, and you can see how my pants got soaked right through the coat as well as my heavy duty hoodie underneath- my arms were also wet too. They were not cheap but they were on sale at the time about 50% off. However they are nice coats but they are not the warmest coat you have to layer with them. I found out about three weeks ago when I went out in the rain… I was walking, that they are not waterproof at all. I got completely soaked through the coat to my clothes underneath- please see my photographs. Also the fact that it’s not as warm as another really high-quality ski jacket I have had for 20 years which is gore tex and also stretchable makes me think also that it’s not really Gore-Tex because it doesn’t completely block the wind the way my real goretex ski jacket does. I am very disappointed that I spent a lot of money on two of these coats, and they are not what they say they are. In addition there is a rubber band type loop at the bottom of each sleeve to make it shorter/ tighter which I need because I’m petite and they are constantly getting caught on things which is dangerous. Real goretex does not get soaked through! I am very disappointed in the Spyder brand which is supposed to be high-quality – it’s not. I would never buy this brand again and I’m going to contact them and see if they will refund me for this because I think it’s too late for the Amazon refund now

Runs very large!!! But wonderful function

This jacket is everything I’ve ever wanted, mostly. I am a dog walker in New England and walk dogs in all sorts of weather and this jacket is perfect for rainy fall and winter days. The water beads up on the surface. I have gone through dozens of jackets that didn’t hold up. HOWEVER for some reason this jacket runs REALLY LARGE. I have bought other Spyder jackets in size Small before and they all fit perfectly. This jacket is like a Large. Yes, I am a petite woman, only 5’2”, but I swim in this. Thank god it has pulley straps on the wrists to shorten them but the built-in wrist sleeves are so long that my fingers don’t even pop out the end. The waist on it is about 4 inches too wide and the sleeves are so bulky that I can wear an entire other puffy jacket underneath it. So, unless you want to use this jacket for climbing a frozen mountain in sub-zero temps where you need 100 layers, buy a size smaller than you need. I couldn’t return mine because they wanted me to pay for shipping and the XS was sold out, so I’ve accepted my fate. It still works. But I’m a 40 year old that looks like a 12 year old. Luckily the dogs don’t care.

Wonderful Parka

Lightweight & comfortable. I am between size L and ex-large. This large fits me perfectly. Spyder has great products & this seller has great prices. I was concerned about the the way that the sleeves pulled up, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like them.... most sleeves are very long on me and with the pull up sleeve, I can get the sleeve to the perfect size. I love everything about the coat. The color, Sarge, is great. The darker park actually is grey... in the pictures it looks Demin blue.

Good quality

This is a nice coat. It's a bit large though, I returned for a size down and can fit a hoodie under the coat. It's a boxy fit and overall shapeless but warm! Like walking around in a nice sleeping bag. The insulation is good quality and warm in 20 degrees. I haven't had an opportunity to test colder temps. I dislike the cuffs and bungee cords. Overall, a good quality coat that is roomy and warm.

My Favorite Winter Coat

This coat has it all...mid-thigh length for extra warmth...light weight...synthetic down (so no feather loss)...the right pockets everywhere (both zippered and not)... It does have an oversized upper portion but the hip area fits well to ensure you don't have a blast of cold wind coming up in any gaps. And most important to me is...it is waterproof (gotta love gore tex). I can spend hours outside in snow, sleet, rain...and I'm not going to get drenched. Fantastic coat. I wear 4-6 size blazers and got the medium and it fit stylishly well.

This contains down. The company claims it is “responsible down”. There is no such thing. There are plenty of warm alternatives and I will be purchasing those in the future. Spyder is an overrated, misleading company. Arcteryx or Patagonia are better.
