Pâte à pâtisserie polymère Sargent Art, noir

Brand:Sargent Art

2.8/5

36.25

A little stiff
Was able to condition with softener. Will update after I get conditioner bar of clay while it was a bit to condition very usable and note to bake at a lower temp I found just bake with foil sheet and average the temp with other clay used and works fine.

Perfect!
Came in large block. It was well packaged. I cut off a piece and although it was pretty girl, within a matter of just 1 to 2 minutes in my hand, it was soft and very easy to sculpt. It also holds it's shape very well! It cooked perfect with no air bubbles. I will definetly but it again!!

Doesn't dry completely
I followed directions exactly. I even baked for triple the time after several attempts with instructions. The clay is very very hard and difficult to manipulate. I tried adding a drop of mineral oil and it made it easier, however that turned my hands black.

Great value.
It is firm but somewhat sticky which is not a bad thing as it can be leached out between paper. I was concerned it would be crumbly and it is not. Transfer of color to fingers is not as bad as I imagined!

Came dried out
Even though the batch was dated Nov 22 the clay was extremely brittle and dry. I have never used this brand before so maybe it's just brand specific. Took a long time to rehydrate.

Is this a rock or clay?
I understand that clay must be conditioned, however this clay pretty much needs a steam roller to condition it. I had to use so much liquid clay conditioner in order to get it not to crumble. Over 20 minutes of conditioning through my pasta machine starting from thickest to thinnest settings. Still with all of that it just cracked in the oven. Also it stained my hands. The frustration of having to use wipes or a wet rag over and over just for this product was real and wasteful. I gave it 2 stars for its pigmentation. It is very black in pigment unlike other blacks clays that dull in color the more it’s worked.

Would not meld together.
The clay was to dry. Numerous attempts running it thru pasta machine. Never did get cohesive. Perhaps it was old. Can't use
