Quiet once you reseat the impeller
I installed the Cascade 300 hang on back filter on my 75 gallon tank. When first installed, the filter was very noisy. The impeller seemed to have a lot of play in its housing. I reseated the impeller and the filter is now very quiet. The flow rate looks a little on the low side, but I'll know how effective the filter is once its been running for a while. The Cascase seems fine as a supplement to my Fluval Cannister filter.

Quiet and Works Well Once You Figure it Out
After reading the instructions, installing everything as instructed, I filled it with water and put the plug in and nothing happened. I emptied the water and took the filter off the tank. I was very disappointed it didn't work right out of the box. It appeared the impeller and shaft wasn't seated properly and there's a lot of play in it even when it is seated properly. So I fiddled with the impeller and shaft, got it to seat properly, tested it in the sink, and then put it back on the tank, filled it with water, and it worked. So, hopefully people will read this review prior to installing the pump and make sure the impeller and shaft are properly seated and working prior to filling it with water and putting it on the tank. Otherwise they will be unhappy like I was having to empty the water and fiddling around with it to get it to work after it was already installed. It seems to work well and has good flow and is very quiet. Update: Filter has been performing well and I cleaned it for the first time. It is much easier to clean than my Aquaclear 110's. It isn't quite as powerful, but much easier to handle and keeps my 38 gallon tank very clear. I don't think I would use it on my big tank though because it doesn't have quite the power and flow that the 110's have. Good alternative if you want to save yourself time and trouble cleaning the Aquaclears.

Works wonderful
Idk what size my fish tank is , but I had bought one and weeks later I saw the other half of my fish tank was super nasty dirty so I bought another one and it cleans so great .. so basically I have 2 ???? which is not ideal bc if plugs being used but it keeps my fish tank super clean and my fishies happy again ..

Quiet and strong filter
The media could not be loaded. First time using a Penn-Plax filter and I'm very impressed. This is 1 of 2 filters for my 40-gallon breeder tank. It's quieter than any of the multiple filters I've had before. Water flow is strong and I like that it can be adjusted. When my other filter goes, I'll be buying another one of these.

Fantastic value for the cost. It’s crazy powerful yet it’s as quiet as a whisper
I decided to switch to this filter for my 62-gallon fancy goldfish tank after running a Marineland Penguin for quite some time... it was the best decision I could’ve made. The biggest pro to using this filter is the silence. It’s the quietest hang-on-back filter that I’ve ever come across. 4 months in and there’s little to no mechanical noise coming from the motor, my mother often puts her ear up to the filter because she can’t believe it’s even on. There’s also very little noise created by the water return (which I absolutely love). If you’re someone who likes to hear the sound of running water this filter will not be it for you, you can hardly hear a trickle. The filter is also incredibly efficient with a fantastic (and completely adjustable) flow rate. They really don’t lie on the box when they say this thing turns over 300 gallons of water per hour. Be prepared to have your water looking clear as day, especially when used with the right filter media. My only concern with this filter is that the materials do feel a little bit fragile, so I’m curious to see how it holds up long term. All in all though, it’s fantastic value for the cost; it’s just as good as any other mainstream brand filter out there.

Great filter; it *is* quiet
The media could not be loaded. I am very pleased with this filter. I bought one, and then bought two more, back in April. This filter is quiet: I have included a video so you can hear it. Aside from the sound of the intake pulling up water when you turn it on, once it gets going, the motor should be quiet. If it still makes noise, try pushing the top of the intake tube down (into where it connects with the motor); if it’s not fully (or properly) seated into the motor, it will make noise. I am using them in 10 gallon tanks. I don’t think it’s too powerful for that; but I do have a bn pleco in each tank, and so they need good filtration (even with plants). I also purchased little sponges you can stick on the end of the intake, for added protection. The suction isn’t too strong, it’s just that each tank also has a siamese fighter (betta) and I just want to avoid any unnecessary injuries to their absurdly long and delicate fins. The sponges also prevent smaller floating plants from getting sucked in. For a 10 gallon tank, the flow rate can be a bit strong; but that’s easily solved by putting some sort of “baffle” to break it up. I actually just use a glass jar placed right under it so the water is pouring into the jar. See the additional photo. (And no, the water is not dirty. It looks brown because it’s full of tannins from peat moss to lower the pH to where it needs to be. I boil the peat moss and then filter it out using a couple layers of coffee filters to make a concentrated brew that I add in when I do water changes.) I would definitely recommend this filter. ????

No lo recomiendo, llego antes de lo esperado, si, sin embargo el producto es de baja calidad, llegó defectuoso, se filtira el agua del motor y se sale, se derrama antes de llegar a la filtración, un pésimo producto, más tarde agregare un video para que vean

Poor flow
This filter is advertised to filter up to 100 gallon. Theres no way this filter would be good for any aquarium under 40 gallons. Being so cheap I thought I would give it a go. It cant filter my 40 gallon so I put it on a 30 gallon, might be enough filtration but ill have to wait and see. Theres barely any flow I would compare it to a aquaclear 20. Just another aquarium hobby cheat.

Very Happy.
Am using this unit for extra cleaning of my 3 Betta tanks. Each tank has it's own filter that cannot seem to keep up with the task. To solve the problem, I use this great filter occassionally on each tank. Very quiet, excellent cleaning job. Adjustable flow and best of all it doesn't seem to bother my Bettas. Use 1 day every two weeks on each tank.

Sketchy Flow
I'm having issues with the Adjustable Flow Control... as in it doesn't... This was one of the main reasons for this purchase, so I'm quite disappointed. **UPDATE** The flow adjustment does work, you just have to wait awhile to see if it'll change, but I've been able to get it to work for my fishes needs :)
