Deadlock easy to install and heavy duty
I loved the fact that this lock easily replaced a much older one in a victorian home of mine. Switch out was super easy and it fit in place perfectly!!

Not the Best, but not the Worst
Bought this to replace an old Hickory Hardware lock of a very similar design. When I went to replace the lock I noticed that the directions were very poor for someone with limited handy skills like myself. I was able to get most of the way through the install when I realized I need some form of heavy duty plyers to cut the bolts and a separate metal piece down. Ended up having to have my friend come over with an electric metal grinder to cut the bolts and metal piece down, as no pliers would work. The face of the lock mechanism is also very flimsy and was easily scratched and dented. I was eventually able to get the lock in and functioning with some jerry-rigging, but overall I am not very impressed with product. It will get the job done, but not the most sturdy or easy to install. If you are not handy, like myself, I would recommend finding someone to help you with this install, as it may require drilling of the door, as well as additional tools other than simple screwdrivers that a regular household may not have.

Great deal.
Great deal and easy to replace.

Works well.
Pot metal, kind of flimsy and hard to re-key. Best if used in conjunction with a dead bolt.

I don't know if I can trust this lock not to jam Edit/Increased rating by 2 stars
Installed on the man-door of the garage, following the somewhat vague instructions(if you cut out the "template" don't toss it, because some of the instructions are written on the back side of it.) It was really sticky- took it off and broke off one more segment of the lock's tailpiece, and that helped, but after reinstalling it I found I couldn't remove the key. Figured it was off by 90 degrees and corrected it. Then the lock jammed, and neither the key nor the latch would move the bolt. Pulled it off the door again and removed the back plate- I think an internal spring had dislodged because I was able to get it working again, but boy, is this thing ever cheaply made. It looks like it will be sure to fail at some point. I'm keeping it for now, but am going to order a remote for my garage door opener right away so I have an alternate way to get in. Edit- So far it's worked flawlessly since I took it apart and unjammed the mechanism. The garage is accessed at least once a day- increased rating to 4 stars.

Good lock
Bought this lock to install on an entrance in Europe, very pleased with the results and price. I am a big believer of having a key receptacle on both sides of the door when there are windows next to the door that thieves can break and access the dead bolt. Wish it came with three keys since the European key smith, I went to get an extra key did not have any blanks that matched their supply(perhaps a larger specialized key smith might have them). But I will make a copy in the USA before I go back.

Good deadbolt for the price, with only a few issues when installing
This is a pretty good deadbolt, especially for the price. As I think has been mentioned, the hardware that comes with it is kind of sub-par. That said, I got extra long screws because my door frame didn't have a lot of solid wood right where the plate makes contact to the door frame, so really long screws were necessary to ensure that the plate will stay put even if an intruder gives the door a good kick. I did re-use the screws from my old deadbolt to attach the cast portion. Something that's a bit aggravating to me is that there's apparently no standardization regarding the actual dimensions or screw locations. This would have made replacing the old deadbolt with the new one a lot easier. One other plus is the keys are basically the same as the common Kwikset style, and the ones that come with the deadbolt are nice quality. Something to beware of is the bolts for the tumbler assembly itself may have to be shortened depending on the thickness of the door. They are designed to be able to snap off about 3/8" of the tips, but I had to use a combination of tools along with brute force to snap them off (it wasn't easy to do). I would have used the bolts from my old tumbler assembly, but the thread pitch was completely different (again, an issue of no standardization).

Good for the garden gate
Not for high security but fine for a garden gate.

Perfect Replacement For Similar Deadlock Circa 1960
Why did I buy this deadlock? The Dimensions. I simply measured the one that finally failed from the 1960s against this one and it was almost a perfect match. Does it matter? Yes, because who want's to start sawing into a wood frame to make dimension changes. Much better to unscrew and remove old one, then screw in new one and be done. Changing time? About 7 minutes. I used the old screws. I used the old loops in the door. Only the actual deadlock was changed. Quite a painless exercise.

Easy to install
Replaced a similar 50 year old lock. VERY easy to install, photos are accurate for color and product. Only 2 screw holes on each side (old one had 4) - but not a big issue.

Just a smidge too cheap for me
Price was good quality was mid grade. I had them rekeyed by a lock smith and there were only 3 lock pins not 5 or more that he normally sees
