Helps a lot plus is exactly the same as what orthopedic Dr. ordered
As to whether this item helped me: 1) I had a LOT of fairly severe pain in my hand, particularly in the thumb & wrist. I couldn't do anything with my hand that required use of the thumb to support/balance/grasp. 2) Official X-ray diagnosis: Degenerative changes of the triscaphe joint (scaphotrapeziotrapezoid) and first carpometacarpal joint -- basically, the joints in the wrist at the base of the thumb) 3) after trying various drugstore hand/wrist/thumb splints before seeing the doctor, the splint that the ortho gave me made the biggest difference: it didn't make the problem go away, but when I wore the splint most of the day, I would have some pain now and then when I used my hand a certain way, but it didn't linger most of the day like it did before using the splint. Believe me, that's a huge improvement! I do wear it most of the day except for when I'm washing dishes or doing something where it just gets in the way ... and I must say, my pain level is reduced significantly. It does cause just a bit of a coordination issue, but in all fairness, it's no worse than being without out the brace where pain/stiffness would cause the same awkwardness. The difference is that by wearing it all day, these moments are much shorter-lived as opposed to when I'm not wearing the splint, one painful episode just merges into the next and the pain just goes on and on all day. THAT SAID ... that was about the splint that the doctor gave me. Since I wore it most of the day/every day, I needed a 2nd one so that I've something to use while I washed/dried the other one. This one on Amazon looked like the same thing. And I am here to confirm that it appears to be EXACTLY the same as what the doctor gave me. Examining/comparing the two (and their associated product literature packets), the ONLY difference I can spot is that the number "DS7410721" is printed on the tag of the one I got from the doctor and the number "DS741022" is printed on the tag of this AMAZON item. Other than that, after careful scurtiny, I see absolutely NO DIFFERENCE.

Excellent quality. Same exact brand and splint that was given (other arm) at the ER. We had n issue with delivery and HonestMedical sent a replacement immediately! No questions asked. Almost perfect
After going through 3 other braces just this year I thought I finally found the perfect one. Well, it was almost perfect. I have tiny hands/wrists so even most other braces being in a size small were still too big for me or I had long straps that would practically overlap and hardly attach to any velcro. I do however like this design of all of the ones that I’ve tried because of the string design and one velcro strip. Because of this it fits nicely and securely. The downfall is that the thumb area is a bit bulky and the metal is already poking through in that area. I haven’t even had this brace 2 weeks yet and I don’t see it holding up for much longer unless I can get creative and find a way to fix and reinforce the fabric so it doesn’t get any worse. Almost perfect but it could use some improvements. It needs a thicker fabric there and the metal brace there should be better shaped.

I wear this while driving and sleeping. I have osteoarthritis in my thumb joints and this brace definitely takes away the pain. Got the first one from my hand surgeon. It worked so well I bought this one from Amazon.

Best value ever.
This is the exact same brace I got at the orthopedic office after treatment for thumb spica. Health insurance was billed $275.00…they paid $59.42, my copay: $107.79. The brace plus the doctor’s treatment really helped, the thumb joint got better and I stopped wearing the brace. Now, six months later, the thumb spica flared up again and I can’t remember where I put the brace for safekeeping. But for this price, I’m happy to buy a new one and have the first one in reserve when I find it. The doctor’s office should be ashamed for the price gouging!

It works, but it's bulky.
Pros: the metal bar in the splint really helps to limit the range of motion. The thumb is isolated, so if you are having issues with your thumb, this splint might help, depending on how limited you want it. (Read cons about this.) The straps being velcro allow you to adjust the tightness. Cons: It's pretty bulky and goes halfway up my forearm. The thumb isolater straps need to be pretty tight in order to really limit the range of motion, so much so that my thumb would often go numb and I would have to loosen them. Overall, I would buy it again if needed. It prevents movement of the wrist effectively. If I was looking solely for something to isolate my thumb, however, I might look elsewhere.

excellent quality, fantastic brace
I've bought and ordered over 50 different braces over the years for bursitis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel and fibromyalgia. This brace works the best I've ever had. It has the perfect amount of stiffness to cause movement restriction in the hand and arm, it snugs tightly, the thumb stabalizer actually fits my thumb and snugs fairly tightly to help my arm, hand and wrist rest after work and through the night. I wake up able to move in the morning and I don't have to wear my day hand brace as often. I will be ordering another to have on hand if something happens to this one. Excellent quality brace and does a fantastic job helping to ease my pain that shoots from my shoulder to my finger tips
