Overall good machine
After using a Bunn for about 20 years, we switched to this Proctor Silex when our coffee maker finally quit. It was a good deal, and it had a couple features we didn't have on our old machine. The speed of brewing was crucial. It's not as fast as the Bunn, which kept a hot water reservoir, but it's quick enough to deliver sufficient caffeine fast enough for me to be functional in the morning. I like the fact that it allows you to fill your mug while it's still brewing. And I like that it's smaller and fits nicely on our counter in the coffee area. It's clear how many cups will be brewed from the water added. I like the larger 12cup capacity and the water fill mechanism. There are a couple of cons. First, whose idea was it to make the on indicator light an intense, eye-drilling laser? It's so bright, it's disturbing, especially pre-coffee. We put a little sticker over it, but wow. Can you tell I'm not a morning person? Second, and this really is a gripe. The design of the carafe's pouring lip is dreadful. Unless you pour exactly the right speed and angle, this carafe will spill coffee everywhere. We've taken to pouring it over the sink. The spout part is too flat, so there's drips that run back. Also, there's a big black plastic rim around the carafe that is unnecessarily fussy and makes it clunky to clean. This might seem trivial, but it's an everyday annoyance. (And I don't like to be annoyed before coffee. ????) We've had various other coffee makers and haven't had this issue. This is a design problem. Overall, it delivers good coffee and is reasonably fast. I'm enjoying a cup now and it's fading my annoyance at the sloppy pouring.

Makes great coffee
My former coffee makes suddenly cracked and spilled water everywhere. I searched for a "small footprint" maker as I have a very small kitchen with an even smaller space for the coffee maker. I read several of the reviews by others and disagreed with many as, to me, the remedies seemed easy. I do not have the water spill issue as I have never filled my coffee maker using the carafe; I use my Brita water pitcher and fill to the water line desired, thus a non-issue for me. The basket filter is preferable as the cone in the former often collapsed and put grinds in the carafe. I totally agree with others about "not cooking" the coffee as it not only tastes awful that way but burns up the heating element as well. The on/off light I cannot comment on; again a non-issue for me, certainly not a deal breaker. The carafe opening is larger than most and makes washing it very easy. This is a great little coffee maker; no bells and whistles, just the best tasting coffee I've had from an economical home coffee maker in a long time.

Excellent and Easy
I didn't want a fancy coffee maker. This one can be fairly easily programmable, but if all you want is to set it up and turn it on, you can, with one push of a button. I got this for peace-of-mind because it will automatically shut off after 2 hours. It takes a 3" basket style filter. There's no button to make your coffee stronger, but if you put a rounded teaspoon for each cup and maybe add an extra, you'll get rich/strong enough coffee. I prefer one that takes cone filters but it wasn't a deal-breaker. It fills from the front which is a huge improvement over most coffee makers. It doesn't take up a lot of space. Bottom-line: You're getting a trusted brand and a reliable coffee maker.

Really Great Small Coffee maker
This is a very compact, 12 cup coffee maker. The basket feels just a bit flimsy so I expect I'll need to treat it gently. It does not come with an insert which means one needs to remove the basket each time it needs to be emptied. (always a risk of spilling used-grounds if one pulls out the filter). I'll look for a basked someplace... tho it adds a bit to the effective cost. So far so good and I like it a lot. It does NOT leak if I take the pot out to pour a cup early, and it keeps the coffee hot for as long as I need it to. Frankly... I'd rather reheat a cup than leave the heating element on. Coffee eventually starts to taste 'old' if left on the burner for a long time. Plus if there IS a drip on the burner... it just bakes on more. A sweet little maker (but makes a full 12 cups) and unless the reliability causes a problem (It's only 2 weeks old) I would recommend to others.

Coffee pot
Works as expected, only problem ive had is that when i pour coffee it pours beyond the spout and goes all over. Everything else ok.

Only 1 minor flaw
This is an excellent coffee maker with the exception of the way the grounds basket closes. It closes easily, but if you fail to push it the extra tiny bit so it clicks closed, it will not function exactly right and will put some grounds in your coffee.

Fits under cabinet
I love the compact size and the basket that swings open sideways. Many coffee makers I've tried fill on top. I have to pull them way to the front of the counter in order to pour the water in. This has a front water well and coffee basket. No more needing to pull the whole maker forward on the counter. If you remove the pot before it's done brewing the flow will stop and won't keep running coffee all over the place. The only thing I don't like is that the on off and programming buttons seem very cheap. Don't know how long this will last but it's a great small sized coffee maker

Good value and features
The top fill on this coffee maker is the best. I have limited countertop space and have always had to situate my coffee makers off to the side somewhere so I could conveniently lift the top and attempt to pour the water into the tiny 1" wide slot that most coffee makers provide for filling the reservoir. This coffee maker has the wide top fill and swing-out basket that make filling it with water and coffee very easy. Also important is that the carafe doesn't drip all over when pouring--only the second pot I've ever owned that didn't drip. Overall, a good brand, good values, and good machine for my money.
