Handle on smallest bag jams badly
Overall I am very pleased with this luggage. I've flown with it twice and so far (knock on wood!) it's held up well. I've also traveled by car on extensive road trips twice and again (knock on wood) it's doing well. It rolls smoothly and the zipper is holding up (gosh...I hope I am not jinxing myself!). :) My biggest disappointment came when I first received the set and began deciding which of the three bags I was going to bring with me to Costa Rica (I could only bring two and didn't want to bring bigger bags than I needed). It was then that I discovered that, given my height (5'8" tall) I don't see myself using the smallest bag (the carry-on) likely EVER. Why? The handle only reaches 27 1/2" high when fully extended whereas my old carry-on bag extends 40" high. The result is that when I attempted to walk with the new carry-on bag behind me it kept hitting the backs of my heels. So it obviously didn't make the journey with me (my old, ratty, carry-on did!). ** UPDATE: Much to my embarrassment, about three months after writing this review I discovered that the handle DOES extend higher, as high as my old one. But it gets stuck really badly and jams and that is why I thought it only went up 27 1/2". And, once I do get it up, getting it back down is a challenge. So, update reads: Handle is long enough but jams easily, especially when trying to fully extend it and put it back down. Now as far as the way you pack these suitcases is concerned: I both like and dislike this. Let me explain: I like it because I can get really organized when packing and it holds a lot quite well. By putting it in a zippered part in the lid as well as the bottom part you can do this. But therein lies the downside as well. Unless you're in a hotel room with A LOT of space where you can lay the bag out flat you quickly get disorganized because you are constantly having to shut the bag and everything in the lid gets messed up. If you're traveling alone and have a spare bed in your hotel room you're in luck! But, since I travel with my hubby and he has a suitcase and his gear (he's a pro photographer) we never seem to have enough room. Opened up like all the way (unfolded) the suitcase does not fit on a traditional suitcase rack that many hotels have for your to use, nor does it fit on most other sorts of spaces provided. That leaves the floor and I can't tell you how many times I've stubbed my toe trying to get around it. My husband had a bag with a similar design and he returned his. I won't because, like I said, I both like and dislike this organizational style and the bag's hard sides and VERY good wheels make up for it. All in all, I would say this is the best bag I've had in years. Now, let's just hope that zipper continues to hold up (and, I have to be honest - I've pushed my luck and had to sit on the suitcase to get it to shut!!).

I Have a Theory!
Ya know, I think that the gorilla on the old Samsonite commercials is dead by now. But he (or she) reproduced, and all the babies have been somehow altered to look like human baggage handlers. I am convinced of it! Unless you give me a fully monitored public DNA test, you will not get me to believe that the unspeakable things that happen to your and my luggage in the transition from baggage check to baggage hold to baggage pick-up is done by humans! We went on vacation to Las Vegas, and it happened to us. A CHUNK of the baggage along with the wheel were missing. We did not bat an eye. We figured it was needed to assist with the landing, like maybe a tire was flat or something. As soon as we got to our resort accommodations I went to Amazon and spent the better part of three hours shopping for luggage, and came across these. We have never bought real quality luggage in a very long time, so we did not know who the designers and players were. i did a little quick study, read the reviews, and ordered. Somehow, the local UPS center flubbed it all up, and delivered our luggage to someone a few blocks from us. Eventually, they got it straight and we had our luggage, and my Bride was shocked! I kept asking her, "this one?", "this one?" "this one?". She eventually waived me off, saying just get some good luggage! Well i did. I CHOSE this color because another customer-reviewer said that the design was - well - different, and was very conspicuous on the claim carousel. She was right. All eyes fell on them. Some eyes had to be shielded. But no one grabbed for them. The smallest one fit into overhead carry-on, yet it held its share of our clothes and other stuff. The shells are flexible and durable, for even after one return flight, we could see that the Samsonite gorilla's offspring had been at work. Pricing - EXCELLENT! While in Vegas, I saw a number of mall boutiques selling the dalmatian patterned version of these. Their price for one was almost invariably slightly more than what we paid for the set. I highly recommend this set.

Love it and the colours
I read a lot of reviews on luggage and the reviews on this make was what convinced me to buy this one and i LOVED the colours. True to what the other reviews said this worked great for me, held up well to flights and even though it gets a few marks on it you really can't tell unless you are close up. it's light weight and boy can I see my luggage come off the carousel when waiting for it. Somehow it seems to make it off quite quickly...coincidence?? not sure but my carry on had to go underneath from the loading gate as the flight was full. My carry on seemed to be very first off and my husband's grey one came way way later. I absolutely love my bags, the colour, the weight and the functionality plus i wanted something different so i saw my bags easily and everything was Great! Update: March 30, 2015 I used my middle bag this past weekend and when I went to zip it up after initially packing it the zipper opened up on the corner I zipped it back and then forward again and it still does it The zipper is faulty on this one so now have to figure out how to have it warrantied as it was not even used yet. Made me realize I needed to put luggage straps on it so if ever on a plane my clothes inside did not end up all over the place. I still love the bags, wish the middle bag was slightly deeper too.

DIDN’T LAST ONE TRIP
Very first trip ended in a huge crack around one of the wheels of the large suitcase. Basically renders it unusable because even though it still rolls, I don’t want to risk damaging it further on the next trip. Very disappointed.

Nice set, great delivery, Amazon pricing, looks even better leaving the airport going South!!
I read a pile of reviews on various luggage prior to our purchase of this set. We had purchased a "Polo" set for my son a few years back and that has been all over North America and Europe, awesome stuff, that is why Rockland was a choice option. My wife wanted the four wheel glider style so here we are. Took the big one to Mexico in February and it did very well being heavily packed (46 lbs. down & 51 lbs. home) the mechanisms and wheels did very well, zippers are excellent and seem tough, I think we made the correct choice. One comment that came out in the reviews was the "scuff marks", ours got bounced around and yes got scuffed a bit, but due to the textured surface all I did was, as I washed them for storage was to smooth the little snags with a spoon edge, washed them and you will be hard-pressed to find the blemishes. These will not be around as long as my sons set, but it was considerably less expensive......overall nice set, good purchase....

the 360 wheels are great, smooth and attached as to protect the corners ...
fast service, they are well made, the 360 wheels are great, smooth and attached as to protect the corners of the suitcase from crushing damages. the zippers and the insides are great and they are lovely cases.bright and better in person, elegant, fun yet classy, the handles expand and retract smoothly. I would buy again.

My daughter loves her new suitcases. I love that they are easy to find in the airport, have zip up enclosures and wheel smoothly. Great quality and value.
