Awesome low profile winter boots!

I love these boots! They have a smaller profile than most winter boots (about the same as a normal hiking boot, photos attached for reference compared to my summer hikers) but with the added benefit of some insulation. These are awesome for walking around town in the winter and for winter hiking, but keep in mind they aren’t fully insulated so if you’re trudging through deep snow your feet will probably still get cold. I took them on a hike on a frigid day (temps around zero with windchill in the -10 to -20 range) and my feet were perfectly warm the entire time, but the trail was well packed all the way to the summit. I took them on another hike a couple weeks later where my group and I were breaking trail through 12”+ of fresh snow, and my feet did start to get a cold after a couple hours (not unbearably cold, but cold nonetheless). My feet remained dry, but constantly sinking through the snow even with snowshoes did cause my feet to start feeling cold, until we met up with a trail that was well tracked and once that happened my feet quickly warmed back up. For me, the small profile and light weight of the boots is well worth the trade off of them not being fully insulated. I have fully insulated Salomon boots as well, but they are too heavy and bulky for me to take on most winter hikes, which was what I originally bought them for so now I mainly use them for shoveling. As for sizing, Salomon boots are typically too narrow for me and I need the wide versions for their summer boots or trail runners, but these fit my foot perfectly even though I couldn’t get a wide version.

Great shoes

I usually wear a size 10 in other brands and this fit me perfectly as well. I got these shoes on a really sweet deal. I primarily used them during my winter bike rides in the snow. I have used them really well this winter and several times had to walk in deep snow. This shoe has kept my dry and warm. I strongly recommend these shoes (at least for the price I got). If you are getting it for the full price, then there are other Salomon shoes in the same price range that are equally good and offer other color options.

Perfect Winter Waterproof Athletic Shoes

I’ve tried a few winter boots that are ideal for winter hiking or mixed weather conditions and nothing came close to this pair that checks all the boxes; light weight, fits your size, not bulky, waterproof and importantly thermal layering to keep your feet normal in harsh winters... I’ve used it at 5 to 30 F and my feet were comfortable... the cushion is perfect too... the sole is a bit hard (doesn’t make a difference) and is ideal for trails or wet conditions... honestly this feels a lot better than the most highly spec’d Nike running shoes...

Super lightweight, stylish, only slightly warmer than non insulated

Super lightweight and comfortable. Stylish enough for urban outtings. Good waterproofness and dirt shedding. Only slightly warmer than non insulated. These are not warm or high enough to call them snow boots but they are perfect for mild winter walking and errands.

Happy with this Purchase

I bought these for my son who wears a 9.5 in all footwear. The reviews suggested sizing up a half size so I ordered a 10 also. They turned out to be true to size so he kept the 9.5. He wears them with merino wool medium thickness hiking socks and they were very comfortable and warm on winter day hikes in Northern Minnesota.

Good winter shoe

Great winter shoes. Light weight. The sole is a bit narrow but apart from that, it fits as expected. I use these for winter walking, urban use, mild winter hikes (20-30s temp). Like another review mentioned, these aren't snow boots.

I recommend them

Great serving me well, light water proof.. Could do with additional hook for lace, I doubt this boot would cope with constant rubble surfaces without the ball of your foot taking the toll but the midfoot and heel would be ok ok I doubt that the Tread is deep enough for more more challenging services in bad weather I think you would need a deep tread from a different Salomon boot but it's a relief to wear such a light for care to travel at speed on a hike

After a few months of almost everyday use for hours , all is well. These are the best shoes I've ever worn for walking, supportive, soft inside, waterproof, solid on the outside, it feels like I can really walk for once in my life and I've tried many different professional walking shoes , instills confidence as you walk because they are so supportive, the best shoe. Had to order 12.5 for a size 12 though, make sure you follow this example.

Ordered half size bigger. 10 for 9.5. can't say they were overly narrow though. Very comfortable and warm. Nice cross over style.
