Very fun, but a misprint made a puzzle unsolvable
My girlfriend and I worked on the game and enjoyed it, but we're immensely confused and unable to solve one problem because the writing on the Jigsaw Puzzle was in German. We figured it might have been part of the story's setting, but nope. It wasted a good 15 minutes of our time. I trust that this is an EXTREMELY rare occurrence, and the game itself is great, challenging, and very fun.

Unique puzzle experience that is pretty challenging
We have a lot of experience playing this Exit series so we understand their style (you are going to use the packaging somehow in the puzzle!) and we had decided up front we were not going to use a hint even if it took us forever. We did abandon that strategy after we got stuck on the 3rd of the 4th puzzles. We ended up using two hints on that part but not any other time. I liked that some of the instructions were ambiguous and you had to figure things out sort of like a real escape room. I could see how that could be frustrating for others or even for myself if I was in the wrong mindset. I'll say that the length of time this takes makes it a pretty good value. Where some of the other Exit games you can finish in under an hour, we did spend about 3 hours on this one. I would recommend this to anyone though as it was a lot of fun and I still think about some of the puzzles a couple of days later. I would recommend this game as well the other Exit games as well as this one to anyone. Also check out Dr. Esker's notebook which is my all time favorite home escape/puzzle room type game. I do get discouraged that the game is typically only playable once so you feel like you are creating a lot waste when you are done. I'm hopeful the creators can find a better way to construct some of the puzzles to allow for less waste in the future.

Better in theory
My husband and I have purchased numerous games from the Exit series, and so far have loved them all. In addition to escape rooms I also love puzzles, so I figured this one would be right up my alley. I knew that it was going to be longer than the normal one-hour ones, but it felt like an eternity when most of the time was not spent on the escape room parts and instead focused on just putting together puzzles that would be the pages of the book that normally comes in the box and were mainly 1-2 colors. It kind of takes you out of the "experience" of it when you transfer to just putting together a puzzle for the sake of adding a puzzle. I wish they were integrated differently into the experience too, maybe having things for other players to do while someone puts it together, but overall we still enjoyed the game even with the small inconveniences.

Well executed! Great use of the theme!
So, I have played all of the Exit games and this one is very similar. I have also played the "jigsaw puzzle" version of Escape Room: The Scientist. Both jigsaw games have great puzzles, but this Exit version is far superior in terms of challenge and creative use of the jigsaw puzzle itself in solving puzzles. In this game the jigsaw is not just a gimmick - in other words, it isn't just a substitute for what could have been a piece of paper... you actually USE the jigsaw in a variety of unique and interesting ways. It was creative, fun, and yes, the puzzles are pretty challenging. I play these by myself and this one took me every bit of 2 hours.

Loves the series of Exit games, but this one had a problem
I own nearly all of the Exit games and really love them, either solving with other players or alone. Unfortunately, one of the jigsaw puzzles in The Deserted Lighthouse game was in German, so the clues for that room didn't actually work out the way they were supposed to. Overall, these games are extremely clever, unique, and challenging. The hint cards guarantee all clues are solvable, which guarantees fun for me.

Some solutions are not what I thought
It was a fun game but a few times when I needed help the solution didn't make much sense. I think you need more experience with earlier EXIT games

One of the puzzle is unsolvable
After trying to solve it for a long time, giving up and reading the solution, one of the puzzle was still unsolvable. Turns out the puzzle was simply not in English, where as the hints and tools were in English. One could say “well maybe the puzzle was designed that way,” no, it is clearly a mistake with the manufacturers because the solution booklet pointed to a word located on the puzzle, and that word was nowhere to be found because its German translation is in the puzzle instead.

extremely hard version of Exit Puzzle
This is my second game on Exit Puzzle. I love that my kids could participate by doing the puzzles together. But in this story, some clues are extremely difficult to find and I think the solution is not that rational...so many layers to the questions and I think those kill some of the fun

Excellent addition to the Exit Games range
As soon as we saw that Exit had launched a new style of escape-room type game we had to try it. We've played all of their existing range up to the most recent release, and while we've enjoyed all of them the chance to try something where the gameplay is a little different was very welcome. Those familiar with standard Exit Games will find some things familiar here (the code disc) but other things in 'The Deserted Lighthouse' are very different (no cards, no book). All rooms are played out via 4 jigsaws, which you complete one by one as the game progresses. As you complete puzzles and solve clues you'll receive further documents to help you on your way, either providing new puzzles or evidence, or directing you to start a new jigsaw. We really enjoyed this game. It took us a little while to get going at first, but once you get into the game the experience is very similar to the previous games but with added fun. We picked the harder of the two games on the market but we should have tried the easier one first, as we did need a few hints, but we'll go back and play that one soon. I particularly liked that several of the puzzles rely on/use the jigsaws themselves as part of the solution, it's not just that you complete them and look at the picture every time. Once you get your head around that it helps going forward to complete the further puzzles. The games are a bit longer than previous games due to the jigsaw aspect, we completed the game in around 2 hours. I'm sure others could do it quicker. I'd recommend doing some of the smaller games first if you're a beginner to get used to the process.

Super disappointing!
We have done ALL the EXIT games so far and enjoyed them - the easy and the hard ones. This new version, with jigsaw puzzles, intrigued us. We saw the difficulty level and thought: this will be challenging and fun. We were wrong! The handbook is poorly written. No where does it tell you to keep the jigsaw puzzles together. If you have ever done an EXIT game you know you don’t need the clues you’ve already used - so once we put together one jigsaw puzzle and solved the “puzzle” we took the jigsaw apart and started the next one. BIG MISTAKE and I wished they would have told us. The jigsaw puzzles are way, way, way to dark. There are clues on them you literally can’t see - numbers, letters, pictures There are “puzzles” (two of them) that are so convoluted they are impossible to solve. I would challenge anyone if they told me they didn’t need hints to help them. We don’t mind hard puzzles but not impossible ones. (What the heck was up with making the paper boat??) Finally, there was a huge error in one of the puzzles which led to much disappointment as even when we read how to solve it it still didn’t make sense. This has to be the WORST EXIT game. I do NOT recommend it at all.

Improvement on the series
I wasn't sure about the jigsaw at first but I ended up enjoying the addition of the jigsaw puzzle element. It really added an extra level to the game and the puzzles were all very enjoyable. We just did a 2 player game (my wife and I) and there was always something for both of us to do.

not enjoyable, felt like we were going to class or doing something very tedious.
Assembling 4 jig saw puzzles aggravated us and wasted our time. Due to cost savings, all the four jig saw puzzles are the same shape so you can just overlay it. Overall experience was terrible. It felt painful to finish the game. Also, if I wanted to do jigsaw puzzles for 1/4 of the game, I would a jigsaw puzzle instead of a locked room. The other puzzles in the game were not very fun. Overall, would not recommend and we do not plan to do any other locked room in this series.

Brilliant Puzzle
This was a great twist on the Exit series of games. A great way to wile away the evening!
