Elevated Toilet Seat Pros and Cons
After my wife broke her femur, we had a need to elevate the toilet seats in our 2 bathrooms. In that I do a lot of on-line research before I buy, a number of reviewer comments were very negative about the type with clamps, I ultimately decided on this particular seat. One comment about this seat was that it was difficult to mount because the reviewer's original toilet seat apparently had permanently installed mounting bolts. As a precaution, I only ordered 1 seat to be on the safe side. As it turned out, because my existing toilet seats had separate mounting bolts, installation was a snap, so I ordered a second one. So before buying, make sure your existing seats have separate mounting bolts. Secondly, make sure your toilet is CIRCULAR and not elongated. The seats will NOT fit an elongated toilet. the bolts that come with the seat are more than long enough and as shown in the picture, because your old seat sits on top of the elevated seat, you gain an extra inch or 2 in height. Pros: Reasonably priced. Extremely fast delivery. Easy to install (if existing seats have separate bolts). Sits securely in the toilet. No clamps. Comes with a removable splash guard that can be used to completely close off the seat front if necessary. Relatively easy to clean. Even so, one thing I plan to do is remove one of the seats to examine the inside surfaces to assure nothing is collecting there. Cons: Reduces the toilet bowl opening so that feces can collect on the rear of seat due to spray back from loose bowel movements.

WORKS.........BUT
This elevated toilet seat is great. It seems very sturdy. Only issue is if you want to keep using your normal toilet seat on top of of the elevated seat you might have an issue like we did. Our normal toilet seat has bolts coming out /attached to the back of the seat. To use the elevated seat like it is meant to be used/installed, the toilet seat you have & are going to place on top shouldn't have bolts coming out. We have looked around & any type of better made seat already has the bolts coming out of the back! We had to go to the hardware store & buy like a 4 inch bolt that is smaller in circumference so the old toilet seat bolt & the elevated toilet seat bolts could both fit through the slot/hole in the back of the elevated seat. It comes with 2 - 4 inch bolts, but they were like 1/2 inch around & we had to buy like 2 - 4 inch bolts that were about 1/4 inch around so both bolts could fit through the slot. Had to do a little modifying to get it to work, but glad we figured out how to fix the issue for my 71yr old mom :)

The Toilet Seat With No Toilet Seat
When something is called a "toilet seat", I kind of expected it to include the toilet seat. It doesn't. I tried to install this on an American Standard toilet that has been in my home for 30 plus years. The product required 2 hours of messing around, to make the product work. The holes, are no where near being able to line-up with the toilet holes. The seat, which you have to provide, as the company recommends to try to re-use your existing seat, of course has the same problem, the HOLES do not line up. I guess that over the years the spacing has changed on newer models. To make matters worse, my existing seat is a self closing model, which is impossible for this set-up. So, after as I said, quite a long time for installation, the unit is attached. The height elevation is good. But if this can last a few months, I will be completely surprised.

If someone in your family needs a toilet seat lift ...
If someone in your family needs a toilet seat lift, this one seems to fit most toilets. We went through several others that just would not stay secured to the toilet. This one screws into the back seat holes. So, it isn't going anywhere. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it could be slightly higher.

Gave a few more inches to ease up and down
Fit my elongated Toto just fine, even though, it says not for that size

Huge improvement over other solutions - sturdy and easy to install
Easy to install, and acceptable for use in a bathroom that is shared by those who don't need the adaptive equipment. It is sturdy, blends in well and is not prone to the 'skid marks' that are often seen when commode chairs are placed over a toilet with the splash guard. If you have experience with this problem, this will be a welcome change! Well worth every penny.
