Fun time using it!

This was a fun gift and had a great time using it. The rock hammer is not estwing and will not hold up long but for a random fun time it works great too!

Good if you want to get your toes wet but components not meant for serious prospectors

It's a fun "explore this thing!" style kit for adults. You get all you need to basically Do A Thing, but if you want to get serious you'll definitely be upgrading your gear. The plastic shovel broke in half the first time I used it, and I'm still using the rock hammer but I'm not expecting it to last long. The pans are fine, workable, sturdy so far as I've used them. I like the smallest pan. Rub some sand around the inside to scruff it up and it works better. Comes with a cute little booklet too with the illustrated basics. Good gift because it's just good enough to be satisfying to an absolute beginner, especially for the money involved.

Very nice panning kit!

My dad is a prospector by hobby. He knows a ton about mining and panning. I wanted to teach my kids and ordered this one. The pans were just like the ones he has used for years. They are thick and sturdy. They did very well and helped us find a little bit of gold dust. The rock hammer is very solid and quality as well. The book was pretty good, and we were happy with the little sample bottles to put some of your samples in. I was nervous to buy because it was a little more expensive than others, but it is a great set for the price and will last for years.

Fun Stuff

This was purchased to take to Yosemite and do some gold panning along the Merced River. It was easy to carry along because it was very light and the pans fit together. When we got back home, it was easily stored in the sturdy box it was shipped in. My only suggestion would be to go to the dollar store and purchase a small pointed shovel or trowel to include with your kit. Although we don't have Gold Fever (yet) we did have a lot of fun using the pans and even managed to find a few gold flakes. It took a few tries to get the hang of the "swirl" but we did, and we are looking forward to the next time...and ready to claim our share of the Mother Lode. LOL!

Great set

I bought this kit for my family to use in our new hobby of gold panning. I was impressed with the quality of the set. Every piece is sturdy and high quality. I was unsure if buying a pack was going to get me a usable set, but it did. I couldn't of got this quality for the price if I had purchased them separately. I am very happy with my purchase.

Great starter kit

This was my first foray into panning. This kit had everything I needed to get started. Pans work really well, gold shows up against the flat black nicely. The handbook is a nice touch as many of the locations I tried didn't have cell service. I recommend getting this kit, read the handbook, watch The Treasure of the Sierra Madre ????, and get out there!

My boys loved it

My oldest son bought this set so he could go and look for things in our creeks. My 12 yr old gave it a big thumbs up 5/5 saying there’s nothing he can think of to make it better. Definitely worth the price .
