Dependability at a great price

I love this candles-I have one in almost every room so that if our electricity goes out-we are ready for the dark. It provides enough life to help you walk thru the house safely

Great Product!

Update: Just want to add a little to this review. I have been using these candles at my church for Advent and Christmas window sill decorations. I have them in white, frosted hurricanes with artificial greenery around them. The really nice thing about these candles is that once you buy them (and I do consider them expensive since we need a lot of them to decorate with) you can use them for years, just replacing the batteries. So, they are an investment, but I first got them when they were a pretty new product, and all of the ones I first bought still work just fine. It is especially good to get away from using a lot of open flame in a place like a church. We still use oil-cylinder candles in the Chancel, but they get plenty of supervision. Someday perhaps there will be LED candles that have truly realistic looking flames, and we can switch to those even in the Chancel. In the Sanctuary windows and in the Parish Hall, we now use only these Inglow candles in various sizes (just the unscented ones). So much safer and also non-smokey. It is so nice, when we set up for Advent, to have these candles packed away and ready to just unpack and set up. We used to have miniature oil lamps in the windows with real flames, and I am so glad that those are GONE. Start of original review: I would like to add my words to the already-excellent reviews of these flameless, pedestal candles. I have them in the 6-inch, 4-inch, and votive sizes, and I love 'em all! We are using them to replace the candles in our windowsills at church for the Christmas and Easter seasons. They look beautiful in low-light conditions, and they are so easy to turn on and off. The light could have been situated a tad bit higher in the candle, but that is my only complaint. Since there is a wide band of glow inside each candle, the fact that the "flame" area seems a little bit far down to be real is not a major problem. The wax exterior is very nice and adds to the realism. They glow beautifully, and the flicker is pretty realistic. I got the unscented, which I recommend for public places such as a church. I honestly don't think that anyone in the congregation who is not "in on" the secret will realize that these are not real candles. They may cost a little more than some other brands, but these are easily the best I have seen. They are well worth the price! A grouping of one six-inch candle and two 4-inch ones is just elegant! I wish there was an 8-inch, unscented size. That would be nice.

Realistic and practical

After trying a set of the votive candles, I was so impressed I got this bigger one too. This one has additional advantages. I put one of the little ones in a pretty holder where a real candle wouldn't be practical and it's been on constantly for two solid weeks, but now it doesn't flicker anymore so will need a battery replacement. Still that's a long time. The advantage with this 6-inch pillar is that it takes standard AA batteries so it will be easier for me to change batteries when needed. The little ones take the watch type batteries. This one looks very realistic since a pillar candle often burns down inside the shell and illuminates the remaining wax in a flickering manner. This candle looks just the same but without the mess and need to remember to extinguish it after use. I can make an arrangement of candles and harvest vegetables on my holiday table with no worry of dripping wax. Lighting the candles in a dinner table arrangement is usually the last thing done before a meal with guests so people don't get to see the pretty effect prior to sitting down. With this candle and the others I'll be buying to create my display, I'll have the full effect even when guests arrive and can turn them off after the party is over. What a deal. Even if I forget to turn them off, no problem. Turning them on and off is easy via a little green button on the bottom. I'm so pleased with these candles I plan to use them liberally in my various holiday decor plans. I've long loved the effect of candles in among the garlands draped over the mantle at Christmas, but wouldn't risk it because of fire hazard--and now I can have my cake and eat it too :). They also make a charming nightlight in my guest bath when I have guests and can be left burning throughout their visit without worry. The candles burn a long time on one set of 2 AAs which are easy to change when needed. I highly recommend these pretty candles.

Beautiful, not durable or bright

The glow is, as other reviewers have noted, quite charming and warm. I love that. They're certainly not bright enough to light a room. You'd probably need a minimum of three to light the area around a bed, and that's once your eyes have adjusted to the dark a little. My guess is you'd need 6+ to provide reasonable light to a room. They're more for ambiance than they are for light, but the ambiance is quite nice. Unfortunately, two of ours arrived with fairly significant damage, and the third had a couple cracks, too. We'll be returning them. I'd probably just rotate the third and deal with it if the other two weren't cracked so badly. I haven't decided on return or replacement, as I have no confidence that the replacement will arrive in any better condition. The cracking is no doubt a result of the way they were packaged and shipped. The manufacturer should have better packaging for this apparently semi-fragile product. They're just wrapped in a plastic roll, and packed together with some air cushions OVER them. I don't know who thought this would prevent them from bouncing around and slamming into each other and other items in the package. Despite the bad experience, I'm only deducting one star from the product itself, and I'm doing that because I think they should be a little more durable. As I said, the majority of my dissatisfaction is not with this otherwise excellent product.
