Favorite flashlight ever!
My son in law joined the Sheriffs department that issues one of these flashlights. Very bright light! Bought it to see at night should we hear things or need to address animals or people around our property. It is so bright and effective for what we wanted it for.

Top of the line. Best flashlight I have ever owned.
I love that I was able to find this light with a duty holster that is also top of the line. It is a little difficult to get in and out of an unmounted charge base. I just need to decide where to locate the flashlight on the wall. Shining this light in my backyard, is about the same as both headlights on my Jeep, which is equipped with factory led bulbs. I had trouble getting my a/c adapter to put out current, but it suddenly started working. The light comes with two charge bases, cigarette lighter plug with cord, and a/c adapter. You're good in both home and vehicle to mount and charge the light.

Great for patrol use
I use this flashlight as a backup/secondary flashlight for police work. I keep a smaller streamlight on my vest for quick access, vehicle searches, or other small needs. This light is great when I know I’m going to be searching a larger area and need more “throw” of light. Nothing is worse then being in a dark area and your primary flashlight dies. Since this light lives in my patrol bag, it tends to be charged and ready when the other one dies. It’s the same quality as my other streamlights.

Terrific!
The first time I tried this out, I was on the 8th floor of a building overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The building was 100 yards from the water. The night was dark but there were a few small groups with flashlights walking the water's edge. In order not to startle the walkers, I illuminated an area well in front of them where their own lights were pointing. Whoa! The beam on the white sand looked like daylight! Others have commented on how the Streamlight produces a bright spot surrounded by even, peripheral coverage. The peripheral lighting was probably a factor of 300 lower in brightness than the main beam, but you could see the peripheral illumination easily against the white sand at 200 yards. I brought my wife out on the balcony to show her. She said, "It's like a search-light." I couldn't put it better myself. She said it was unreal that something so small could put out so much light. The barrel is the size you'd expect for C-cells or slightly smaller. A nifty feature is the way that you change intensity. You push down the button until it clicks and hold it; the light cycles through the three levels; you release at the level you want. Click it twice in quick succession, and you get the strobe. A single click in any mode turns it off. In other words, it contains a very simple microprocessor. If you just want quick on and off, you can press the button gently enough that it doesn't click -- it will go on stay on at full intensity until you release the button. You'll find that it's immediately intuitive. You may have heard of using laser pointers for astronomy instruction. This beam is visible enough that you can use it in that way as well, although, of course, the beam is wider and diverges more than a laser. I was able to point out stars to my daughter using it. It's probably a good thing that these lights are expensive. I'm not sure it would be a better world if everybody had one, since some would use them indiscriminately. I do a lot of walking after dark and typically carry a light, especially when skunks are in season. This will be the ultimate tool for that use: the combination of the central spot and peripheral coverage will be perfect. The build quality is excellent without being any heavier than a normal flashlight of the same size. The design is rugged and not prone to scratching or scuffing. It comes across as a no-compromise, superbly engineered product, properly priced for what it is. Tim

Made in China
I was Very disappointed to find out that my newest Streamlight was made in China. Streamlight has a long history of quality and domestic manufacturing, and by visiting their website, you would be led to believe that their products are all still American made. Not the case. If you drill down in their website, at the very bottom of the "Product Fact Sheet", it says where the product is actually made. We are willing to pay for a quality domestic product! The pricing would also lead you to believer that you are buying a domestically made product. And of all countries, we should NOT outsource to China - a communist country who does not share our ideologies, labor laws, environmental laws, etc. For this, you loose a star Streamlight, and probably deserve less. The product itself however is fantastic! The Streamlight fixed reflectors are MUCH better than those "focusable" lens found in Mag lights and numerous import lights. Good peripheral light, with a concentrated powerful long range beam. For light output and range comparison, I compared the Stinger LED HP with my tried and true Streamlight SL20X (NiMH Sub D rechargeable battery pack) and my Maglight ML300LX (3 D-cell high output LED) which are both fairly similar in peripheral light and long distance viewing. The Stinger LED HP was substantially brighter than either one, both in short range peripheral light as well as distance light. Long distance details just showed up with the Stinger that just could not be identified with either of the other two lights. Truly impressive. There is a run time compromise on high (compared to the D cell based lights), but with the rechargeable battery, I have had no issues whatsoever with the run time, and have never ran it dead. Although it has several available light modes via the switch, I like that if you just turn it on and off that it goes to high output only and back off. You do not have to function through switch settings as some frustrating import lights that I have used. Note that two models are made. If you want both the side and a tail switch, get the DS (dual switch) model. I have the non DS model, and like it. In my opinion a rear switch is primarily for tactical use, and typically with smaller lights. Overall build quality is very good. Quality aluminum with the rubber ribbed handle. Machined threads are good. Good rubber grip, and warmer than aluminum when temperatures plummet. Not sure the longevity comparted to knurled aluminum, but appears to be of good quality, and should last a long time. A great light, with American designers, but made in China.

Streamlight 75980 Stinger LED HPL Rechargeable Flashlight, Without Charger
Got this to replace an older model Streamlight stinger, where the NiMH battery had corroded and exploded in the flashlight. After cleaning out the unit, and getting a Lithium battery, discovered that the new battery would not fit into the older streamlight, or that the corrosion had somehow warped the flashlight? Anyway, had a heck of a time trying to extract the new battery from the flashlight. Thank you Amazon Prime, I was able to return the Lithium battery, and decided to get this unit instead. WOWEEE! improved performance, brighter light, and better operation of a tactical switch. You can cycle between brightness levels, and even has a strobe. Best feature is that all stinger flashlights use the same chargers! Best performance flashlight in the house, easily outperforms my Maglight 4D cell unit, and all my Surefire flashlights!
