Great shoes... for narrow feet

Straight right is famous for making superior quality shoes and these definitely were quality. My only complaint is that they are extremely narrow and they are sooner that it took me over a half hour to get one shoe on the foot because the elastic is so tight it's almost impossible to hold the shoe open and get a wiggly toddlers foot in there. Granted yes, the tight elastic was great because the shoes stayed on but it's definitely difficult to get your kids shoes on before they are well broken in. Size up by 1/2 size and if your child's foot is wider than a narrow foot make sure you buy a wide!

VERY WELL MADE

These shoes are very well made, as is usual for stride rite. They are slippery, but in my opinion, not a reason for a bad review. my child is autistic and walks and bounces on his toes everywhere he goes! stride right and saucony seem to be the best shoes for him! there is a VERY THIN layer (like a sticker) of felt on the toe, each side of the arch but not the middle, and back of the heel of the sole of the shoe. Contact portions (where the foot presses and meets with the walking surfaces) are not covered with the felt. but if you have a child who doesn't walk but heel or toe steps, and you feel like it would be evil for your child to slip around a teensy bit, then you could do what I did. I used a pedicure file (emery board) to scuff up those felted strips. seriously, took my less than a minute per shoe... or if that is too laborious or time consuming for you, then you can take your kiddo out on the concrete and let them play it out for a while! That should rub the felt off enough to stop the sliding around.

Perfect for our needs

We ordered these to use with prescription orthotic inserts. While they looked used upon opening the box, the soles were still new, and the insoles were removed in our case. We also paid $16. A little rubbing alcohol and sanding removed the fuzzy bottoms. Overall, they are the best fitting shoes for my son’s orthotics, which is difficult to find for less than $60. If they wear out quickly, also fine, as he is 3 and grows fast. We’re replacing shoes every 3 months with different orthotic inserts anyway.

Not a bad shoe...just snug

Unlike past reviews say the shoes did not have fabric on the bottom and did come in a box. But if your child dosent have thin feet these may not fit. My son has very thin and narrow feet and it was a chore getting them on. Once on they fit very well and after wearing a few times have stretched out enough that they are not as hard to get on. Overall pleased.

Not For Wide or Round Feet

Really nice looking shoe for the price! I just got them in so my son has not tried them on yet. I will update when my son tries the shoe on. Overall, the shoe looks great. The packaging was great. Update: DO NOT BUY THIS SHOE OF YOUR CHILD HAS A WIDE AND ROUND FOOT. It will not fit. I bought a 4w and it was not going on his foot at all. Overall it seems to be a good shoe but it doesn’t work for my baby’s foot.

Hard to wear

These were great out of the box, but for some reason we had a very challenging time getting them onto our toddler's feet. They appear to be the right size, but the heel collapses when we try our regular shoe strategies. I can only imagine how hard these are for kids who don't like wearing or putting on shoes (our guy knows it means outside time, so he's all for it). 3 stars for look, comfort (once they get onto the feet), and price.

Not Stride Rite Quality

I purchased 3 pairs of these shoes for my 1st grader to wear to school everyday. He likes the colors style and fit of the blue and grey shoes. I especially like the hook and loop closures. I purchased a size 1, 1.5, and 2 expecting him to wear a new pair every 3 to 4 months as his feet grow during the school year. The entire shoe began to breakdown within 2 weeks. I’ve had to wash them 3 times as the insides begin to smell. The attached photo shows the complete breakdown of the shoes in just 10 weeks of wear. I probably should have given him the 1.5 size at 8 weeks but they are still a little large. He has worn these shoes to school September 3 to November 15. This is not the quality of shoe I’ve previously experienced with Stride Rite.

Love them but they are poor quality

I love the shoes but I honestly have to say that the quality it’s really poor. On a school year I have to buy 3 pair of shoes of this ones, because they brake and look awful on the outside. Last year I bought a pair on March, then on August and the last one on October , and here I am, buying another pair and they are expensive shoes, so they should make them better.
