It's beautiful but too heavy to be functional

My mother picked this set of dinnerware out because she loved the way it looks in the Amazon listing. When it arrived the box was super heavy. It said 18 lbs on the label. My mother and I both have neuropathy and experience the effects of it so when I took one plate out for her to lift, she couldn't hold it and it was heavy for me as well. We bought the dinnerware set because we needed something we can use in the microwave and of good quality; however, these plates are fun to look at but not functional because they are too heavy for everyday use. The reviews I read were mixed but take it from me, the one plate I held was too heavy and will not be of any use for my 72 year old mother and I. Other than that they are absolutely Lovely to look at. None the less, it may not be a problem if you don't have a problem managing heavy dinner ware. Best wishes.

Beautiful But Lots of Small Blemishes

The Studio Nova Tahiti 12 piece dinnerware set is beautiful. This set consist of four dinner plates, four bowls and four dessert plates. The pattern is white with various shellfish in an aqua color around one side of the plates or on one side of the bowls. This set is very attractive. There is one big problem. About half the pieces have small imperfections in the finish. There are very small pimples on several of the pieces. The finish coat was not properly applied and these little imperfections really distract from the set. The dishes are microwave and dishwasher safe. My wife really loves the pattern, and we are using it but the little imperfections really detract from the beauty of the set. The set cost just over $50 and at that price point, you expect a slightly better quality finish. I realize that the blemishes are totally cosmetic, but I think the company needs to figure out what is going wrong in the finishing process and correct it.

I like the design, tasteful and understated, but these dishes are quite heavy.

This is a nice set of china: Four each of plates, salad plates, and cereal (or soup) bowl. These feature a pretty marine design, and appear to be well made. They are not lightweight ceramic pieces--the big plates weigh about a pound and a half, about half as much as many ceramic plates of comparable size. I thought nothing of using heavier dishes in my younger years, but I have dealt with hand and wrist pain for a long time, and heavy dishes can be painful to put in and take out of a cabinet. So, while I might buy these as a housewarming gift for a young person, I think a good portion of those over sixty might conclude these are a little heavy for everyday use. Also, I have found I am more likely to drop heavier dishes while washing them, but they are less likely to survive a plunge into the sink than lighter ceramic dishes.

Pretty nice looking plates

They are nice-looking plates and bowls. I did find them pretty heavy so don't imagine I will be holding them and standing. They are microwave-safe and dishwasher safe which is nice. The engravings on the plates are nice too. Basically, it's nice with precise cuts and no defects.

Very pretty set of dishes. A few small flaws on some items dropped a star.

This is a very pretty set of 4 dinner plates, bowls, and salad plates. The decoration is well placed and looks very nice on all pieces. The set is dishwasher and microwave safe. We really like this set and would have given it 5 stars if not for minor flaws that exist in the finish on the porcelain on a few of the items. They are still usable and still beautiful, but the flaws do exist.

Coastal vibes

First of all, these came packed very well. I was a little worried when I saw the package on my porch because the top of the box looked as if it had been opened, but everything was packaged extremely well and all arrived unscathed. The colors are as I expected. The dishes have a nice weight to them, not too heavy but they don't feel too delicate either. This set is dishwasher safe which is important to me because I hate hand washing dishes! I took off 1 star because one of the bowls does have a small beige colored blemish; however, for the money this is a very good set.

Good Quality Dishes

This Tahitian dish set is very nice. It came with dinner plates, bowls, and salad plates and they all matched each other. I like the design but the color was a little too light for me. The weight of the dishes could be a problem for those who may have issues holding things. However, they are not so heavy that you can't use them. It is a good set and they feel like they will last a very long time. Overall, these are good dishes and I am pleased with them.
