You want these for the winter
These are expensive, no doubt about it. I think they are worth it if you are committed to cold weather riding. I use these from about 25-50F (below 25 I just don't ride) on rides as long as 45 miles. I had been trying all manner of booties and socks with my summer shoes to ride down to 30 degrees (F) without success. These are fantastic. No more wind getting in the shoe, I've walked through running streams and they stayed completely dry and the toe box is very generous allowing you to place toe warmers in there. I don't think there's a very much insulation per se so you'll still want good socks and/or toe warmers. These shoes, to me, are about half a US size / 1 EU size larger than you'd expect. I normally wear a 12.5/13 in shoes....47 in Shimano (I needed a 48 in the XC7). I bought 47 and there is plenty of extra room...Probably could have been fine with a 46 then maybe thick socks would be too much. You may have read these are hard to get into. That's true but once the shoes are broken in it's definitely easier. Loosing the BOA strap will help as well. I don't see it as a big problem and probably affords a higher "water proof line" than if the zipper went lower which I appreciate. If I had 2 improvements to offer for the product team: 1. The toe box is a little too generous and a slightly tighter fit would make for more efficient power transfer. 2. Insulation could be improved but, again, warmer socks maybe is the better option for more flexibility. I also did buy and return the Arctic X5 shoes. The fit was totally opposite of the X2 -- 47 in X5 was too tight and I'd never be able to get bulky socks and toe warmers in there. I found virtually no information on differences between the X2 and X5 and didn't go beyond the significant fit difference.

WAY too hard to put on
The build quality seemed solid, I was confident that my feet would stay dry. I returned the shoes after three uses, though. The fit was much too narrow for my feet—which may not affect everyone—but the stiffness of the heel and rigidity of the shoes' material made putting the shoes on very, very difficult. The latter will affect everyone. I quickly realized that I would find myself despising these shoes over time and probably avoiding using them more often that not, even when it was raining or wet out. To be fair, many, many reviews tried to warn me, but I was convinced that it couldn't be that bad. It was. And it's such a bummer, I was very excited about these.

Awesome shoe, tight to get on.
The shoe is pretty great. I use it for winter riding but I can easily see using it for summer also. The shoe fits fine once you get it on, but it can be a bit of a struggle to get them on when they’re new. Once they’re on they fit to size and are comfortable. I’ve written them in 29° snow weather and they are water resistant not waterproof. That said they keep enough water out where I’d say riding in rain for over two hours will keep your feet dry.

Warm and Comfy when/if you can get them on!
Seriously, I like them but it takes 20min to forget how annoyed I am with how hard they are to put on. They could have put a loop on the back to help pull them on, pretty big miss. If you get these pickup a shoe horn as well. Shoe horn is in the mail. They are perfect for what I was looking for, lined and water proof. Very easy to walk in, even in the snow. Didn't notice the flexible soul which I was concerned with since my summer MTB shoes are composite and stiff.

Hard to get on but super comfortable
top sleeve of the shoe needs to be more flexible; you destroy your shoehorn, and it still is hard to get on. When you finally get them on, they may be the most comfortable shoe. Getting them on is a pain in the butt.

Third try was the Charm. Great Shoe.
Ok, yes they are hard to get on. Just buy a good long shoehorn. Then you will love this comfortable, warm, dry, Winter MTB boot. Use it to ride gravel bike and MTB. Tried top end Shimano & Sidi. Neither fit or were comfortable in my normal size 44. These fit with room for winter wool sock.

Soooo nice to have warm/dry feet
These have exceeded my expectations. Always a gamble with winter shoes. Some reviews state that these are difficult to slip on and remove. It's true, the fit is snug, as it should be, but if the BOA is loosened, slipping these on and off is not that difficult. Already worn these in many PacNW deluges, and stayed completely dry. These are meant to breathe, so warm socks or several layers of warm socks are required, and keeping a moderate to high cadence is all part of creating warmth. Not really a boot/shoe to stand around in and stay warm, but they were not designed for that purpose.

Water leaks profusely through foot opening.
The shoe is warm, and I don't understand the complaints about fitting (get a shoe horn). The problem with this shoe is that the neoprene ankle is not skin-tight, the shoe does not come with a feature that tightens or seals the air gaps around where your feet enter, and that there is therefore nothing stopping water from flooding down your legs and into the shoes. My feet were soaked after only riding through a 10-minute heavy shower.
