Great for my project!

These work perfectly for my project. I am using them to secure satin ribbon and a material dust cover to the back of my gallery wrapped canvases. I hold the pointed stem with a pair of needle nose pliers and use a small hammer to insert them through all the layers into the wood frame.

Strong enough for me

The pins I received are not weak. I've stuck 4 of these into my 40 year old, treated cedar wall 4x each at odd angles, and none have collapsed. I did the same to my drywall and ceiling with about 12 more.

better than some....

These tacks are great though with a really hard surface, you should use a nail to make a pilot hole. If you don't at least half the tacks won't go in.

They are thumb tacks. I'm not sure how thumb tacks could be anything other than expected. The product was as advertised. Since they're white, when I forget to take them out of my ceiling after birthday parties are over, they blend in fairly well.

These tacks have a nice size head and the needle part of the tack is a good length. So far I have not had any of them break when trying to remove them which is good.

poor packaging

Um. The package came and somehow the box thing that was supposed to hold the tacks was completely broken and it came with tacks sticking out of the package... dangerous... but I guess they’re decent quality, after I pulled them all out individually trying not to prick myself... hehe.

Disappointing

Good for pinboards, but don't buy to use on walls, the pins are flimsy and will bend. On top of this apparently 40ct is not as much as I thought in my mind. Usually, I buy a pack for cheap and it's a full pack, so I imagined this as a full pack due to the price, but 40 is actually a surprisingly small number of pins. Probably wouldn't buy these again.
