UPDATE (August 18, 2019): Have to knock this down to 3 stars. 15 months after purchasing, the watch stopped working. I knew it wasn't the battery because the backlight still worked. Two different watch repair places confirmed it wasn't the battery, but they didn't know what was wrong. They were all reluctant to do anything and just told me to get a new watch, but I ultimately found someone in Chinatown Boston who opened it up and cleaned it for $20 and got it running again. I assume there must have been something lodged in there blocking the motion of the hands. A bit concerning that something would have gotten in there or broken off inside, but at least it works again. Original Review (April 23, 2018): It feels weird to give this 4 stars because I actually really love this watch. I'm a 5'3" female with a 14cm (5.5 inch) wrist, and I was looking to replace my Timex Ironman digital watch with something just a little classier. I wore my digital watch 24/7 before it died in a hot tub, and I felt naked and out of sorts in the few weeks I went before replacing it. I still don't understand how people can function without a watch. But I digress. I had several things I was looking for in a watch: I wanted an analog watch. I wanted something I'd be able to see if I woke up in the middle of the night, and I don't trust glow-in-the-dark paint to still be luminous at 4:30am. I wanted water resistance enough to shower with the watch on so I'd know if I was dawdling too long in the shower in the morning. I wanted the date displayed. I wanted a watch that wasn't teeny tiny like a lot of women's watches are but also not so big it would look ridiculous on my wrist (again...14cm wrist). I wanted to spend less than $100. It was a tricky search to find a watch that would meet all these requirements, and the Timex Expedition Scout Unisex was the only one that did. A previous reviewer mentioned that he didn't think women would enjoy this aesthetic, but I'm a tomboy, and as I was searching for a watch, I constantly found myself eyeing men's watches and wishing there was a women's version that had the same look because the men's ones would definitely be too big for my wrist. In comes the Timex Expedition Scout, with a unisex version that is the look I want and the size I want, and meets all of my requirements. I actually bought the Timex Women's Expedition Metal Field Mini Watch as well in order to compare the two because I was worried the Expedition Scout Unisex would still be too big on my wrist, but the the Mini didn't hold a candle to this one. So why 4 stars and not 5? As most other reviewers have pointed out, this thing is LOUD. I knew that when I bought it, which was another reason I bought the Mini at the same time. I wanted to see if I could live with the ticking noise, and if not, I would have kept the Mini and returned this one. Turns out I can live with the noise. It can be annoying in certain situations, but I found that if I use the last hole (smallest setting) on the watch band, the ticking sound gets muffled against my skin most of the time so I can't hear it anymore. Using the smaller size makes me more conscious of wearing a watch, which might be an issue for some people, but being someone who wears a watch 24/7, it was only a small adjustment for me. That being said, I couldn't give a 5-star rating because I felt like the noise was a HUGE drawback. I very nearly returned the watch because of the noise. The Mini doesn't have the same problem. Overall though, I feel pretty lucky to have found this watch, as it is the only one to meet all my requirements, and I really like the aesthetic of it as well. I enjoy the blue face on mine. The Indiglo is great, and I don't know why other watch manufacturers don't have anything like it until you get to some of the several hundred dollar Victorinox watches. So far I've only showered with the watch on twice, but I'll start showering with it every day once I exchange the leather strap for a nylon one. I really appreciate Timex making a Unisex version of this so that we ladies can have something nice too!
