Poor use of space
I travel for work. Usually 1-6 night trips, 3-4 times a month. I had a Travelpro 20” hard-side “spinner that I bought in a set at Sam’s Club 8-10 years ago, & loved it. Then the telescoping handle broke. This one is a bit wider, 1” taller, but 1/2-1” thinner. I still expected to have at least as much space as my old one. NOT the case! On my old bag, the handle was tucked neatly against the back of the suitcase, taking as little space as possible. This one sits easily 1/2” away from the back of the suitcase, leaving that space unusable. Then, they tucked a piece of foam across that to smooth things out & pad the arms, I guess… wasting even more space. In my old 20” Travelpro, I could easily pack for a 6-7 night stay. In my new 21” Travelpro, I recently struggled to pack for 2 nights. (Not expanded, but I will get the chance to do that for a 6 night trip next week.) The handle seems sturdy, and the wheels seem good. I don’t mind that both sides have zippered restraints, but I did loose some inside pocket storage from the old one. All-in-all, I would say that this is a decent carry-on. I’m not sure how it will stand-up to baggage handling at the airlines. (Thankfully I don’t have to do that much.)

Sturdy
I LOVE Travel Pro. I have been using Travel Pro Crew soft side 2-wheel luggage for over 30 years. It is RUGGED. Dozens of flights, three international. Survived Russian baggage handlers. KGB inspectors were suspicious that an innocent businessman would need such sturdy luggage. This carry-on is of much more rugged construction than the same-sized Travelpro Maxlite 5. True, it is 0.9 lbs heavier. But when fully loaded at 20 lbs, the difference is not noticeable. One noticeable ruggedness difference is there are two wheels on each corner. Another feature is the side handle, less chance for muscle strain when lifting it into the overhead bin. The mesh-and-zipper retainers on both sides hold the contents more securely.

really like it
I bought this Sept 4, 2022. I waited to post a review to see how durable it is. I have carried on and I have checked this bag a few times. There are tiny barely noticeable dings from the airline handling but overall, it still looks good. I bought the cabernet color. It hold enough for a week , for me and does everything it's supposed to. I would probably purchase again and do recommend it. I registered this bag with travelpro the day after I got it. When packing for my latest trip in 4-1-23, I noticed the left side TSA lock zipper tag is gone. I have contacted Travelpro to see about the warranty and haven't gotten an answer yet. BUT when i went to their site to see about ordering the part (how much could it really be?), it appears part are now not available for this particular style/model. I am trying to ask if another similar part will suffice. So just be aware, that it may or may not be covered, even if your register the bag. The warranty was a big part of why I bought it. I will update my review when I find out for sure what is truly covered and what is not.

Lightweight, attractive check size bag came through one trip fine
Lightweight, attractive check size bag came through one trip fine. I've taken this bag on one airline trip with 4 flights. My luggage was delayed and delivered home the next day in fine shape. It is sturdy and holds a good amount of clothing and items. The lightweight exterior does bend a bit and the zipper closure can take a bit of time to line up and zip. I expect it will hold up well, and if it doesn't will update the review.

Great mid-size bag
Just took this bag on a 2 week Japan vacation and it did great. I bought this 25" bag because the trip length was too long for just a carry-on but a full size suitcase definitely seemed like overkill and too much to lug around on trains, up stairs, etc. I love just how light it is. The only thing is that the handles aren't as rubberized/cushy/comfortable as I hoped they would be. I'll definitely consider getting another from this line when it's time to upgrade my other luggage.

Sturdy
I watched the porters man handle my suitcase, just throwing it, they ripped off my tags, and the case has some scratches, but it held up nicely, big and roomy, just wish it had some more pockets, but I'm happy with it

Great suitcase, but was dented during first four flights (same trip)
The inside is great - used with my compression bags and squeezed a lot into the space. Zippers held I flew three flights and then two flights within my trip and this dent was the result. Nothing broke, the suitcase is still usable, but my old one did not dent over 13 flights.

I really loved it but........
the 1/2 of the suitcase which has the extending handle took up 2" of space for each side of the handle taking out a lot of space for packing. The only thing you could line the bottom with would be flat shoes. I tried putting in my compression bags and they didn't sit flat, taking up valuable packing space. Other than that, I loved it and wish so much space wasn't lost on the inside for packing due to the bars. It glided smoothly and has a very convenient TSA combo lock so you don't need your own. I also liked that each half had a zippered cover to keep your items in place no matter which way it is opened. I ended up gong with an American Tourister spinner: Burst HS print max. It' weighs about 1lb more, but the handle bars in the inside are only sticking up1".

Great Quality, Crisp Looking, & Perfect Size for Carry-On Only Travel!
Purchased my 21” Maxlite Air specifically to make the switch to Carry-On Only air travel. Had just returned from nearly 3 weeks in France and due to airline chaos in summer 2022 we went carry on only. My wife had a small roller but I had 40L Patagonia Black Hole Duffel which was great but a pain to lug through airports. The Maxlite gives me the same capacity, in a very lightweight hard sided 4-wheel roller. Super high quality and bang for your buck, consistent with all the reviews I had read. Also gives the option to expand it 2” in depth if you wanted to do some shopping and then check the bag on way home. I’ll update my review after our next trip this fall but it is ALL a question of capacity for me so I did a packing test-run. I’m a slim shorter guy (small shirts, 29/30 pants, size 7 shoes) so judge accordingly about quantities. But as per photo attached, I determined the max I can bring as: 8-10 tees/polos, 6-7 button-up shirts, 1 light sweater, 4-5 shorts/swim trunks, 4-5 pants, 1 blazer, 2 jackets, 3 belts, 10 underwear, 12 socks, 2 pairs of shoes and 1 pair of sandals. That includes what I wear on the plane (jeans, tee, sweater, jacket, 1 of the pairs of shoes). But everything else went in the suitcase, along with sunglasses, lint roller and electric razor…and that is NOT expanded. That’s up to 18 tops…and therefore 18 outfits, making Carry-On only a totally realistic option for ANY length of trip, especially if you had a Vrbo or Airbnb with laundry. I will add a third pair of shoes in my small daypack “personal item” along with my toiletries and electronics. So it had surprising capacity and was still very lightweight when full. The right hand side that has the handle beneath has less space kind of in 3 little channels, so pack accordingly with shoes etc slotted in between. The Maxlite Air 21” was below all the carry on dimensions for all airlines I checked and I looked at pretty much all the Canadian, American, and European carriers, including discount ones like Easyjet and Ryanair. I’m officially converted to traveling light…and the TravelPro seems to be the perfect fit to make it a more comfortable walk through airports or along city streets. Again will update after my first trip…but hope the above info is useful for anyone who (like me) was very hesitant to ditch the checked luggage.

the worst handles ever
I almost send it back but I was too late for it, I needed to keep it for my travel. The side handle is so tight, that there is NO PLACE for our fingers. If you slip them in, you will scrap your skin. I mean, I am a woman with hands that are also child size. I don't get it. I mean, how does the company thinks that would be ok for anybody? Disappointing for the price, it feels like I just bought a cheap plastic suitcase at Walmart. Everything else seems ok, but I did not try it yet on the plane.

Gorgeous and functional
As someone who has previously used the Travelpro Maxlite soft case, I appreciate the convenience of an external pocket for quick access to items. However, I recently switched to the Travelpro Maxlite Air Hardside 21" carry-on and have found that the hard-shell design offers more structure and protection for my belongings during travel. While it doesn't have an external pocket, the interior organization system is well-designed and maximizes packing space. Overall, I am pleased with my decision to upgrade to the Maxlite Air Hardside and would recommend it to other travelers in need of a reliable and structured suitcase.
