Delivery Gone Bad
OMG I can not believe how they shipped this. The photo says it all. The box partially opened. If I were to rate this on the delivery they got a F. This is a replacement light for one that I had for over 10 years. Same exact light that served me well. The last one still works but the light started flickering. I thought it was the bulb but after trying several bulbs I guess it is the light. The only change to the last is there was a locking nob at the bottom that you could adjust the angle and they removed that on this model. I only gave 4 stars because of the delivery. The light is 5 stars.

Simple modifications make this a winner.
I bought two of these to use on my work table. Out of the box I was not very happy for the same reasons others have given: the base slips with little provocation, and bottom arm segment will only move to a 90 degree angle, seriously limiting the maximum extension. At this point I would have given the lamp (barely) a 3 rating, but with a couple of modifications I think it's now at least a 4.5. First, in order to allow the lowest part of the arm to come forward more than vertical, I bent the two tabs which prevent the arm from moving forward until the arm could clear them. This is unnoticeable and doesn’t affect the lamp's appearance at all. Next, to solve the slipping base, I followed the others' suggestion and drilled a hole for the lamp to slip into. However I found that with the extra extension explained above, it slipped out of the hole when pulled fully forward. To fix that I tapped the hollow tubular base to accept a 3/8 inch bolt (or maybe it was 7/16, I don't have it in front of me ... it was the tap for the size bolt that _almost_ fit). The tube is actually a sheet wrapped into a tube, but I was able to tap it without trouble. A bolt and fender washer under the table worked fine to keep the lamp in the hole. I had to tighten all the screws on the arms to increase friction, but now it works like a charm. Time to do the first one: 1/2 hour, since I had to figure out what needed to be done. The second took me ten minutes to modify.

Good but two flaws
It is quite well made - but... 1) The bottom arm connector has a piece of metal across it preventing the arm from swinging forward farther than straight up. I cut it off with a Dremmel. 2) Other lamps have this problem too but I decided to mention it. The bulb hood is a little short. Larger modern diode bulbs can glare in a users face. I intend to extend the hood eventually. For now it is not a problem

Not very sturdy, but it gets the job done
I bought this for my desk to get some more light on my face during video calls, and it works ok for that. I tossed the included bulb and put in a daylight LED bulb instead. It's pretty wobbly and not real sturdy, but it works fine for how I am using it. Since it was cheap, I got about what I was expecting I guess.

Great product for the price, but definitely was designed for cost reduction
This lamp is engineered to *just* perform it's tasks, which I think is ok. It doesn't have a spring for counterbalance, nor does it securely lock into the clamp. It does pivot in the expected ways, and provides a few different options for mounting the arm to the clamp. It's a bit fiddly to setup, and due to the lack of springs is reliant only on the friction knobs to keep the position firm. It works well in a static environment, but if you are going to use this with a wobbly table or on a vibrating system, I would look elsewhere. For my purposes I actually removed the light shroud and bulb holder - it's currently holding a webcam, and doing a great job at it! I can reposition the camera quickly, which at the end of the day, is all I needed.

Not sturdy
The lamp arm omit the balance spring that would hold the arm in position. It only use the tightening friction force to hold the lamp in position. As a result the arm will not hold if you need to make the arm leaning forward to much. The friction is just not enough even I tighten the nob hard. For me it's fine, I don't need to adjust it often so I didn't return it. If you need to adjust the lamp often, I suggest you buy one with balance springs at lower and upper arms.

Good quality ; 6 month update
Very useful when mounted to a desk in a work environment. I have mine craning over my monitors to light up my workspace. Joints are stiff as they should be. I'm not a huge fan of the clamp mount, however. It doesn't do a very good job of holding the light structure in place. I find myself re-positioning my light from time to time, and a lot of the time, it just falls out of the mount, not due to any fault of my own. It's just not a very good mount. *6 month update: Light continues to function, and joints are still strong.

Overall it is a nice lamp.
The reason I only gave 4 stars is because it did NOT come with a mounting base as specified. I am only able to use the lamp because it was to replace a similar lamp I have used for years. That lamp finally died, but, thankfully the clamp was a perfect fit for my new light. Otherwise, I would be returning the lamp. I hope it continues to work.
