consistently good
We have had luck with this jacket consistently over the years. Amazon usually has a good price and color selection whenever we grow out of one and need to get another.

Weather resistance good, visibility poor
This product did my child and his various layers from thin to think well, keeping him mostly dry (he is prone to sticking his hands deep in water, so that's his issue, not the coat's). My biggest disappointment is that the colors are dark and there is no reflective tape on it. When it gets dark at four my child is dry, but not visible on the street. If he ever got lost on a hike, it'd be impossible to see him in the the understory. I wish the colors available were brighter and that there was reflective tape on it. This is not a problem specific to Columbia, I found few choices with adequate visibility and think it should be standard on children's clothing.

Not breathable material
Reason for buying this is to wear during rainy days in the summer. It's very comfortable and very light to wear. The only big problem is if you wearing a short sleeve shirt it tends to stick to your skin like a plastic bag when you perforating and at the end of the day when I remove the jacket I smell very bad as the sweat interacting with the material, it made my shirt and vest smell so bad that I had to have a wipe down and change of clothes . It was embarrassing if anyone smelled it, I had to change in the car and used wet wipes to get that horrible smell of my body. I only realized the bad smell when I remove the jacket otherwise would of noticed.
