Needs sharpening and isn't super powerful but otherwise it's great!

This review is for the corded type not the battery operated kind. Want to know the dumbest idea you were convinced to buy into in the history of male shaving and grooming? The idea that you NEED a battery operated facial trimmer. Even in the lowest income house or apartment there is an electrical outlet by your sink, or within the reach of the VERY ample cord this unit comes with. I'm not certain but it's like almost 6ft long (the cord). Batteries die - I know this because I too bought into the stupid idea that I NEEDED a battery operated trimmer. After the third $40-$60 trimmer I had purchased eventually bit the dust I started to wake up. Have you? This unit has as much power, maybe even a little bit more, than the comparable size battery trimmers I have had in the past. What it DOES need though, is a good sharpening before you commit to using it. And that's pretty easy to do. You pop off the head, separate the blades, and run the smooth sides over some 300 grit wet/dry sandpaper like you're lapping a CPU. Exactly the same way you sharpen hair clippers, only on a much smaller scale. Keep it oiled and clean and sharpen it once a year and you too will wonder how stupid and foolish you were to buy into the idea that battery trimmers were the only way to go. Laugh at your friends as they buy trimmer after trimmer and yours lasts for years and you can rest easy knowing that you are free from the burden of e-waste that their battery operated types create every 3 years or so. Obviously if you use your trimmer to make quick work of your shave by using it in the shower this unit is not for you. The blade heads pop off in a funny angle/direction, but once you get the hang of it it's easy. The guards are useful for trimming to a specific length, but honestly I only use like 3 of them. It's a matter of preference. I recommend this unit and others like it. The price was very affordable (for me $40 USD in Dec 2022), and you can feel confident that this unit will outlast other more expensive battery operated units easily, thus helping you 'get ahead'. And all yo have to do is be willing to treat it like a 'normal' clipper with maintenance and oil - and be willing to plug it in when you need to use it.

Teeth spacing is too close and Clip-on Guides are too flexible

I'm not sure why there is a battery life rating on the review form since this is a corded AC powered product. That being said, I bought this to replace an older AC powered Wahl trimmer that had quit working. This version seems to have closer spacing between the teeth so the beard hairs do not easily fit between them. This issue most noticeable when trying to trim the mustache since the hairs are easily deflected so getting a smooth even trim is difficult even if I use some mustache wax before trimming. I end up using scissors to finish the job. Also as other reviewers have noted, the clip on combs/ height guides are made of a flexible plastic as opposed to the hard plastic of my previous Wahl trimmers. The flexing makes the guides harder for me to use correctly because tend to bend side-to-side.

The box did not contain what it said it did.

I have not tried the clippers yet. Just disappointed that the storage pouch was not in the box. if you could send me one, I'd appreciate it, as there are many little attachments. A pouch would hold them all together and be much sturdier than a plastic sandwich bag.

Do not like it plus it does not have a rechargable battery.

I don't like the feel. I tried to return it but it was a product that was non-returnable or refundable. Also, one needs rechargeable battery with an electric razor. Having to keep it plugged in is a hassle. GO in another direction. While it's a good make, I'd try a bit harder for a different product.

Great trimmers but only the blades are made in USA

Thanks to Covid, I needed a way to trim my beard, brows, ears, and nose. I have used battery operated trimmers for years, but they never worked great, and throwing away batteries all the time can't be good for the planet. So, I bought these Wahl trimmers. The trimmer is nice and light. It is comfortable to hold, but it is a little small. That's probably an advantage since the human head isn't flat and you'll be working around all those unsightly protrusions (e.g. - nose, ears, lips, and chin). The cord is long and not so heavy that it impedes use. The included bag is too small, but it will hold everything if you're willing to fiddle with it. It's made of cheap, thin material, and the zippers are awful. I'll be using it to hold the accessories but I won't be struggling to stuff the trimmer into it after every use. The blades are top notch and it's easy to swap between them. They include a T-blade for haircuts, a slightly smaller beard blade which has rounded ends, and a small blade for details like nose, ears, and mustache. The guards are a little flimsy, but they seem to work fine. There are lots of guards for the T-blade, but I wish they had more than three for the beard blade. The blades are the only part of this kit that are made in the USA. The trimmer is clearly stamped "Made in China." Wahl's packaging and promotion is completely deceptive in this regard. They have a big red, white, and blue "Made in USA" logo prominently displayed on the packaging, but most of what you're buying came from China. Shame on Wahl for using such deceptive packaging. The trimmers and blades deserve 5 stars, but the cheap accessories and deceptive packaging were enough to knock them down to 4 stars.

not bad, but could be better

finally made the switch to a corded trimmer, and for that I'm thankful. this unit had the head pop off a couple times, i was able to snap it back on. the plastic combs that come with it are easily lost or bent. the carrying case is junk, wont zip, and necessary if you dont' want the cord flying all over the bottom drawer in the bathroom. they could do a bit better and charge an extra few bucks.

Good stuff.

I bought this to replace a battery powered version with the same attachments that died. I figure a corded version should last longer, although the battery one I had did last several years. The attachments are nice, if not slightly cheap feeling, and will buzz during operation. This is not a silent trimmer, although that isn't a huge surprise. I use it to trim my beard as well as cut my hair. It does those well.

Item arrived. Plugged in, didn't work. Seller states that the product is non returnable/refundable. Managed to talk to the amazon assistant who refunded but it was not very easy getting to this point.

You can not use this product in the UK

You shouldn’t sell this item to UK customers because the power voltage is wrong. It explodes and ruined the trimmer as well as the rest of the electricity in my kitchen.

Received my beard trimmer and I haven't even managed to finish my beard and it blew up. I used the adapter obviously, since I live in the UK and the trimmer is for USA sockets. So I wasted £84 for nothing. This is so nice.

Almost Perfect.

Extremely well made. Seems like it would last forever. Is almost perfect except for the following: 1. The points on the fixed side of the blade are RAZOR sharp which makes any sort of short trimming without the guard very painfull. 2. The adjustable guard is a flimsy piece of plastic that seems like it will break immediately. 3. For whatever reason, this thing likes to grab and pull out hairs every few seconds. I’ve never experienced this with the 5 or 6 other trimmers I’ve owned in my lifetime. Fast or slow, up or down, it reliable pulls the occasional hair which is extremely frustrating. Overall a disappointment. With a few tweaks it would be the perfect trimmer.

didnt work, blew fuses

ordered this product for gift for son. stayed new in box for about 6 months, then when he tried it when he was away at school , when plugged in it blew his fuse in room, tried in another outlet and took the power right down in the whole dorm. had to have the school's maintenance man come to restore power..oops. brought it home, blew a fuse at my house,,, and it was outside the 'return window' , chucked it in garbage
