These are great!
Almost bought a pair of Yak Trax at a big box store. Checked Amazon first, they had these alpine ones! Heavy dutiest ones in the store just had little studs, pretty much worthless if you ask me, but these have heavy duty spikes that are at least 1/2" long! They're a bit tricky to get on my size 14 boots, but they work great!

These are awesome
We still have a lot of ice on the trails/sidewalks in the frozen tundra. I love walking on our trails and finally brought myself these spikes. I wore them for the first time today and was happy I chose to do so. These did a fabulous job. They are sturdy and stayed on my boots nicely. I give them ????????????????.

Ultimate traction on snow and ice
On March 26, 2021, my family and I were hiking in Bryce Canyon. Trails off the rim, e.g., Navajo trail, start with relatively steep descent. Bryce Canyon alerts visitors through their web site that traction devices are recommended from late fall until spring. On the morning when we hiked into the canyon, temperatures were below freezing and trail was covered with a thin layer of snow with icy spots beneath it. We initially decided to hike using Yaktrax Pro, a cheaper traction device with steel coils which resemble tire chains. Those were totally not up to the task: while they felt a little better than nothing, traction on ice was totally inadequate. My wife felt particularly uncomfortable. We were lucky to have Ascents in the trunk. They are not ideal for compressed clay, asphalt, or very thin layer of ice because spikes lift the soles of your boots by about 8-10 mm, and the pattern which they follow do not provide a steady foot support across the full width of your shoe. If they do not penetrate into snow and ice, one loses some of the ankle stability. They are also relatively heavy. But man, they are rock solid on ice - one can walk, jog, run, do anything, they would not slide. Day and night compared to the cheap "pro" version which feels like a joke in comparison. Once we got down into the canyon, we found that only very little snow was on trail, and only in isolated spots. On compressed, frozen clay these traction cleats were usable, but felt excessive - heavy, and one should walk carefully to maintain lateral balance on the foot, as cleats of course cannot penetrate frozen clay. After a short walk, we decided that we will be better off taking them off. Putting them on is not too hard, but one has to figure out how to do it correctly. Do not skip pictures in the manual. A large zip lock bag in the backpack will come handy if you find you do not want to wear them anymore. These cleats may be an overkill in the city after a light snow, but could be a fantastic asset in snow, icy snow, or after a freezing rain. They make impression of a solidly built product, with thick durable rubber and solid steel parts. I was impressed.

Important snow gear!!
I’m a repeat buyer of this product. Bought one pair for me last winter. I was really impressed! So, this winter, I bought pairs of these Yaktrax trackers for my daughter and for my hairdresser as Christmas gifts. These trackers really grip the ice and snow.

effective on steepish hardpack and ice
Sturdy. Easy to get on and off. Effective on relatively steep hardpack snow and ice. Well worth the investment in pack weight when you need them. Wearing them, I can travel almost as quickly over ice and snow as I do over rocks and dirt without them. They are not suitable for travel over terrain a fall would be a big problem. If you need crampons, wear crampons! I wear the XL-sized version with size 12.5 Oboz winter boots with a hefty heel and toe cap. Choose your size carefully to match your boots and you will find them to be stable and easy on/off. Given that they are made of plastic that must be stretched, don't expect them to last for ten years. Still they are a good value.

Best yaktrax I’ve ever used! They were amazing until I lost one after a few post holes!
Need to buy another pair after loosing one hiking in some deep snow! Loved these for Utah winter hiking! I definitely recommend these if you are hiking on any winter trail!
