Answer to my question

The strainer is part of a cap that extends about one-quarter of the way down the length of the shaker. I found the answer to my question by looking on the web for illustrations of similar cocktail shakers, but I could neither write an answer to the question nor comment on an "answer" that wasn't an answer. The photo shows the parts and how they go together. The middle part is the part with the strainer. This shaker is low in price but looks good and feels solid. I haven't used it yet but it looks like just the right thing to make a cocktail for one or two people. Next day: I still haven't used it but I washed the two largest parts in a dishwasher and washed the top by hand. Now the parts are out of round and don't fit together easily. I downgraded my rating by one star. A day later: Repeatedly twisting the parts together reduced the out-of-round to something reasonable. Actually the top fits perfectly as far as I can tell. I used it once and it doesn't leak. The rating remains at four stars out of five, with the recommendation that it should be washed only by hand.

Perfect for Traveling or Single Cocktails

I LOVE this little cocktail shaker. It's small, sturdy and perfect for traveling. It doesn't take up much space and I can pack a jigger inside of it. Everything I need to make me a cocktail wherever I go :-)
