Great find for a larger mailbox

Found a great price ons slightly used product. I didn’t think the mailbox would be in a decent shape and I was pleasantly surprised. Appreciate Amazon have partially used products that are less than retail.

Excellent quality mailbox.

Love this mailbox. Very high quality. Solid thick metal, not flimsy like most of them. I looked at a lot of mailbox options and this one is my favorite. The hinge design is great, unlike all the crappy mailboxes with cheap side pins that barely hold the door on. The flag is also superior to the cheap plastic crap. The magnet seriously holds the door closed - for sure no hanging doors with this one. Unfortunately, our mailbox post was designed around our old mailbox (extra large instead of large) and we couldn't figure out how to mount it on the existing post properly. Sadly, we went purchased a new version of the style we had but I really wanted to keep this one. If we're ready to replace the entire post down the road, I'll repurchase this one.

Attractive, but plan your install well ahead of time

This is a handsome, seemingly robust mailbox. It is quite large, which is what I wanted as I don't always collect may mail everyday (long rural lane, weather, lazy). Finished installing yesterday. Looks great, will report back if there is a sturdiness issue as other have reported, but it sure doesn't look like there will be. Issue is the install. They sell separately a bracket whereby you can mount this to the top of a vertical 4x4 post. I think this big box would look funny atop a skinny 4x4. That was not my install anyway, around me folks mostly build a horizontal 4x4 extending out toward the road from a 4x4 or 6x6 vertical. (first photo). The solution is to make a flat mounting board to screw/nail to the horizontal arm, and attach the box to that. Many mailboxes allow attaching to such a board through the sides of the box, screws through holes in the "hem" if you will. This box has no such holes; you instead bolt in through holes in the bottom and hence must put holes in the mounting board, too. (second photo) Things to plan in advance: 1. You will need a 1-1/2 inch thick (actual) mounting board for this kind of install due to geometry of the bottom (using dimensional lumber, say a 2x6 or 2x8 which are actually 1-1/2" thick). I used two layers of a 1x nominal (0.75" actual) 2. you will need bolts and nuts, stainless recommended, 3/8" by 2" (4 in number) 3. I ended up drilling the holes in the wood 1/2" rather than 3/8", because otherwise they need to be placed perfectly precisely (the holes in the bottom of the box are unforgivingly 3/8") to get everything to fit. 4. Lastly, the holes are 4" apart side to side. Given the a 4x4 horizontal is actually 3-1/2" wide, this is a very tight fit for the the nuts/bolts to straddle the 4x4 one you've screwed the mounting board to same, but doable. (third photo) So, more involved to install, but ultimately I am happy with the result.

I like the size of this Mail box

This is a great looking mailbox, very sturdy with a magnetic door that stays closed. My installation was on my older 4x4 horizontal mount. Used pressure treated wood under box with galvanized bolts and nuts. Took some planning and a lot of painting on my old post, but the results are worth all the time that I spent looking for the right mailbox. This looks amazing, nothing cheap about this one. I get my medicines delivered from the VA: now they will fit with magazines and an occasional box. I also ordered and used the gold address numbers on the box. 3" on the sides and 2" on the door, Look's like I have the perfect mailbox!
