cooks the rice fine

but with the sputtering coming out the vent hole....I thought with these cookers that problem would be eliminated. We got this for our son, the larger capacity one, and at full load one must stand there and watch it and keep cleaning the counter off continuously as it cooks. I tried it only using the 1 and 1/2 measurement, and it still sputters, but not as much. Thankfully we didn't get the smaller load rice cooker. I can live with the large one and using the least amount of rice, as it doesn't leave much mess on the counter. I use the brown rice.

Indispensable cooking gadget

My kids use this every other day at least. They cook rice and veggies in it. I love that it is metal so it won’t scratch like our old one.

Decent cooker for a small family

Like: - Simple 1 button function - Heavy stainless steel pot. No worry about non-stick surface peeling off Dislike: - Bottom layer of rice stick to the pot. It will need to be soaked in water for cleaning - The lid has an unusually very large vent. As result sticky liquid will squirt out to your counter - It said it can cook 7 cups of rice. I'd not cook more than 4 because it will be too full and I imagine more liquid will escape from the top Overall, it gets the job done for a small family. If you have large family, look for larger pot.

Loving this Rice cooker.

I have a smaller rice maker and when I make my dog food I had to make 2 batches of rice. This one is a perfect size for what I need. It would also be a good size for a larger family.

Spews water, steam, gummy rice residue throughout cooking

I saw several reviews from others with this same concern, but naively hoped that I wouldn't have the same problem. When making a very small quantity of rice, only 1.5 scoops of rice with the required amount of water, there is constant eruption of water, steam, and gummy residue to the point where the entire lid and surrounding counter were splattered and caked on by the time the rice was ready. There's no way this cooker could accommodate enough water to make more than 1.5 cups of cooked rice. Completely misleading product information. This product needs a major redesign.

It's real stainless steel

I like that this rice cooker is 100% real stainless steel. Quality product. I expect it will last for very long time.

They should test the product. Something wrong with the cooker

They should test it as there is so much steam come out and not cooking properly. Tried the stainless steel pit with my other cooler and it works well. I wanted this cooker because of the stainless steel inner pot. How ever I am using this inner pot with my old cooker now.

Love this thing!

We also have the smaller version of this machine, but as we began doing more mass food prep, we decided that we needed something bigger. Our primary criterion at the time of both purchases was that the inside was NOT Teflon (or similar) for health reasons, and so we gladly purchased this one again. It's simple, easy to use, easy to clean, and basically just perfect. I hope they never stop making this!

Works well

This rice cooker works well. There were complaints about liquid spiting out the lid vent. We have not had that issue. We do fold a piece of paper towel in half and place it over the hole and under the lid handle. This is something we did with our old one. We don’t use the steamer as much as I hoped we would as the holes are quite large and I find the vegetable fall through

Cheaper than 3qt, a bit large for a couple but still works

Received it and there is not "select stainless" logo on the body. Works fine with 1 cup rice, good alternative if you found that small model 3qt too expensive. May have to buy a switch because its always on "warm" mode when supplied with AC.

love the stainless steel bowl and steamer on this rice cooker

Very happy with this rice cooker - have done test batches of white basmati and french lentils and both turned out great - thought the lentils were going to stick badly as they seemed to be stuck to the bottom eat the end of the cook cycle, but removed the stainless bowl from the cooker and let the lentils sit covered for about 5 mins and they released from the cooking surface no problem. This replaces a very old Aroma rice cooker with an aluminum bowl that was still working, but really wanted to get rid of the aluminum, and I didn't want an electronic unit - this is perfect. Haven't used the steamer yet, but I like the idea of having it for dumplings and steaming fish!

Steel inner is way healthier that Teflon coating

So glad that I read through the reviews of this cooker before I made the purchase. I always dislike Teflon coating, and have been searching for a rice cooker like this one. After using the cooker every day for about weeks, I would say it is the best rice cooker I ever purchased in Canada. A quick tip for easy cleaning: add some water to cover the bottom and leave it for a couple hours to achieve easy rinses.
