Decent Upgrade, not without its quirks though UPDATED
When this arrived I was surprise how small it was compared to my failed unit. I was a little worried until I compared the pump ratings and saw that this one is made to eject the water fast. Which makes sense. My old one had much more interior room which allowed more of the water to sit and stagnate. This one wants to pump it out asap with little water remaining in the tub. The snap top is a vast improvement over the screw top I had before. The only tricky part is that the mesh barrier uses notches in the top's reinforcement ribs to hold it in place. This is a bit of a pain if your sump access doesn't have a lot of top clearance. This goes double for the wires. They run through notches in the side wall and are sealed off by the top closing down on them. So, for me, reaching under the floor at an angle trying to close the top while lining up the mesh and the wires at the same time is quite the feat. But, I had to do the same with the old one just with screws added into the mix. I think a side wall bushing for the wires would help the design. The inlet ports are pretty close together. This make them tricky to cut with a saw. Which, you have to cut open the ones you want to use. I recommend drilling them out if you have a bit large enough. I had to do some trickery to get the ac drain hose to work. I opened up the 3/4" hose fitting on the outer right (in the picture). Mounted everything in place, than to find out that my ac drain line is 5/8". Had to run out to West Marine for hose and one of those hose butt adapters. Moral is: double check your hoses sizes before you cut the inlet pipes off. Because, if you guess wrong you might have ruined your new sump. There is also a small over flow drain at the top near the pump. I ran a hose off of this down into the bilge next to the bilge pump. That way if an overflow does happen, hopefully, this will keep water on the marine plywood shelf to a minimum. However given it's small size, I don't think it would keep up with incoming shower water too well. All and all, Installation wasn't terrible, the pump clears the sump quick and quietly. I'd recommend this sump but only with the precautions listed above. Update: Everything is still working just fine after one season of daily use. Only with one issue; with the lid completely seated/snapped in place the pump will run continuously. Not sure if this is some kind of vacuum lock formed by soap scum and the check valve. I've stopped futzing with it. If I leave one snap loose on the lid the problem doesn't happen. With the pump clearing the water so fast it doesn't seem to be an issue and there's not enough to slosh out why underway. 2nd Update: Well, it's in the garbage. I found it too much work to clear the pump head of hair and scum. It started out as a monthly chore and then became a weekly one. I bit the bullet and got a Johnson Pumps Grey Water system. It uses a diaphragm pump instead of a centrifugal one mounted in the Attwood. It's similar to your waste pump and can handle soap blobs and hair relatively well. The biggest down fall of the Attwood is the pump. The impeller is good at moving clean water but fouls too easily with soap in the mix. I recommend staying away from centrifugal pump sumps all together. Mike from the Lifesaport live-aboard blog

Outstanding Replacement
After constantly messing with (as we all do) my original pump/switch, replacing the float switch and later scooping out water cup-by-cup and drying carpet when the pump failed, I finally decided to replace the entire enclosure. While shopping, the Sahara 750 pump, alone, is $65 so why not buy the whole thing for $10 more, right? Let me save you some anxiety while waiting for delivery with the following: The photo shows three wires coming out of the box. Two of them come together and you end up with a total of two wires to connect. I was a little concerned, as when I tore out my old pump (Rule brand), I was left with four wires (two for the pump, two for the float switch). I traced the float wires and sure enough, they were spliced into the pump wires. In the end, I had two wires for two wires. Easy enough. The box was bigger than the old (screwed into a flat area in the hull) so I had to install a treated board (stained, painted and clear-coated to last) to the bottom of the hull and attached the box. Overall, a little work, but well worth it. Pump works like a charm. The best features in comparison are the built-in float switch activates sooner than lever-style floats so the box won't be left with so much water. I also love the snap cover (no screws!) so you can get in there to clean/check the pump with ease. A sidebar on the cover: Attaching the cover for the first time was painful, as the wires would not stay in the grooves cut into the box (so they don't get pinched). I'm happy to say that once through the first wrestling match, they've stayed in place every time since. I'll update in the next 6 months or so with the pump's stability. Highly recommended so far!

Our Attwood Shower Sump 750 is a success...
Our motto is "everything breaks too soon, usually at the worst possible moment" so we wanted to make sure that it would be possible to clean and/or repair it readily. This product worked well for us, but we didn't appreciate how well, or how good their design was (easy access, drop in replacement pumps, solid hose ports that don't crack off, etc.) until after we tried some others. We have since switched over to an Attwood Shower Sump 750, which seems to be better built, sturdier, with a much greater ease of access. The lid snaps on and off (no screws), there is a very large, easily cleaned, plastic mesh screen to catch the hair, and best still the hose ports are directly attached and straight through, so hair doesn't clog inside it. We also liked the fact that the pump itself looks like it can be replaced with any standard, off-the-shelf Attwood Sahara automatic pump. Initially we used a competitor's product, a mistake we discovered only when it came time to clean it. Because we had plumbed the bathroom sink and shower drains to it, after only a few months of use, the filter in that product became clogged with very long pieces of hair and the filter then needed to be rinsed. [side note: if you need to choose between sailing away with either a pet, or a companion, choose whichever one is bald.] The Attwood's design allows us to easily access the filter by just popping off the lid, pulling out the flexible plastic filter, rinsing it and replacing. No fuss, no muss. We strongly suggest you factor this in when choosing a product. Since we're on a catamaran, we ended up using two, one on each hull. Both have worked well for us. For more details check out boat work blog. [...], there are photos of how we installed and plumbed it, and attached it to the hull.

Buyer beware seller will not honor warranty
Thought I would pay more for a brand name shower box pump to ensure it worked. What a waste of money brand new installation box fills up with water and I can hear the pump turn on. But it will not pump out the water. Only works occasionally now my shower floods and my gally sink doesn't drain. If you're looking for a reliable sump pump this is not for you. Lid cracked while reinstalling after cleaning seller would not honor warranty.

Great product
Other than changing hose position with originals location, it was a direct replacement and works great.
