These are the real deal, same ones around commercial buildings.
This listing is for a box of 6 stations at an excellent price (~$10 per unit). I could not finds a key in the box, so the seller sent me a couple (good customer service). The Protecta LP are better than others I have tried. LP stands for low-profile, and they will slip under pallets, etc. . I live in a "hillside" area that has critters. These are excellent quality mid-range price point rodent bait station. I often see this exact same bait station around commercial buildings. There are heavier duty ones like Wilco Distributors 39000 Bait Station that cost twice as much. I have owned a Wilco for years and use around my big dog. These are quite sturdy. There are cheaper, lighter ones, dirt cheap, that are as stable as a balloon in a breeze. These are cost effective and the real deal. They last outdoors. Being able to open and lock these is a great feature for replacing or examining baits. I assembled/baited and shook vigorously, and could not get the bait out. The keys work fine. The bar secures the baits. They do work and in a few days I stopped hearing rats and saw one dying. These are for great outside, garage and shed. I use smaller ones inside. If you have a rodent problem, having these around the outside of your house is evidence that you are combatting rodents, and will keep you within code. You can glue them to pavers or put a brick or rock on top if you want. I use these at my rental houses, too. Tip: if you lose a bar, you can get heavy pliers and a wire hanger, and make your own, cut as long as will fit, bent at both ends after you put bait on it. Then securely place into the station. You NEED to check and replace consumed bait blocks about every 7 to 90 days. I checked mine after six months, all 9 of mine outdoors were EMPTY. Checking the bait stations often will help you gauge your rodent problem and progress. When I found all mine empty, I refilled them and ordered some more. A bucket of the bait blocks is very handy to have on hand. If you have a rodent problem your baits will disappear (they get eaten) and your rodents will disappear, too (they die). I very highly recommend that you use one or two of these window units in your string of bait stations: Tomcat 0370910 Tier 1 Refillable Rat & Mouse Bait Station. I have one near my front door under a bench and can see it every day. Much better than guess work. If one these is empty it is time to check them all. Throw any dead ones rodents find away, they are toxic and you do not want your pets to eat them. Use a plastic bag over your hand, then turn it inside out with the rat inside.

They work but animals can drag them away
I have probably purchased more than 30 of these. I like the way they hold bait and compared to other designs seem to work better. We have macadamia trees planted by my parents who thought they were raising nuts. The nuts are loved by rats and squirrels and we have lots of fat ones running over our grove of over 100 trees. The only issue you may find is that these can be carried away by dogs and coyotes. I now attach a wire to them and fasten to trees so that they cannot be carried away. Other designs of bait stations are even easier to carry away and the bait is not as secure inside the station.

okay
Seem to be a pretty well built item, The size I wanted, I would have given 5 stars all around but the first time I filled them one of the latch pins broke. Maybe just one bad casting.

Professional quality that holds up
We've had serious issues with mice and pack rats here in Northern New Mexico and finally decided to go the route of reducing the population. We put all six bait stations around a home that gets intense sun, heat and winter weather with snow. After a year and a half, they are still in great condition. We refill them every two to four weeks with a bucket of Just One Bite chunks. This is incredibly more economical than paying a pest control service. As others have said, these are professional grade. Great quality bait stations! UPDATE: 2 years later and still in great shape!

Kills them dead, in a gross way
the bait stations themselves are great if you have pets, because they are very secure and my dogs don't bother to try to get into them, however do be careful once you start seeing the dead critters, they sort of swell up and then chemically disintegrate a bit on the inside. I have only removed 2 dead rats so far in our garage, one was "melted" like the wicked witch in OZ and we (meaning my man) had to scrape it up with a shovel. Gross! so while the bait stations are safe, I'm sure it wouldn't be good for a pet to get curious about the chemically killed dead rats. My dogs thought they stunk and thank goodness weren't curious enough to try to lick them or anything like they do with a lizard or bird who has had a natural death so I think the chemical smell deterred them, but you never know! Regarding effectiveness, so far so good! I'm just not looking forward to looking under my house anytime soon. That will be quite the job I'm sure.

Well made!
Called the local pest control, they were going to put these in my shed and around it. Thought it might be cheaper long run to just buy and do it myself. These are easy to load poison onto. I bought a bucket of it from Amazon. I have several of these and I've already found a dead mouse. I haven't checked to see how much Poison is gone...but I love the fact that it keys shut and it keeps my dogs and cats out of the nasty stuff.

I like that there are big holes for rats and mice ...
I am a gardenerer and noticed something ate all my seedings in the night. After setting out a camera we found that we had a rat infestation. We decided on getting bait stations because we have dogs and wanted something that can withstand the rainy season and we thought the bait would get wet and fall apart if we just set them out around he fence line. I like that there are big holes for rats and mice to enter. Durable and easy to open (this one doesn’t require a key and can secure it with a screw). Just wish there was a clear window to see when I need to refil it. So far so good.... we’ve found some dead rats in the yard

Do the job
Boxes seem sturdy enough, just a shame that I bought 6 and only got one key. If I loose that, I'm scuppered
