First pump didn't work but the replacement did...
It didn't rain much the first few weeks, and by the time it did and I could test it, the warranty expired. :-( Sometimes it works, but it often doesn't and it makes a lot of noise. If I can't trust that it works when I am away, what good is it? Maybe I got a bad unit... but I would really appreciate if the company would send a replacement so I could give it a try. Rather than reduce my stress, knowing my pool cover will drain, it adds stress to my life worrying about it when I am away from the house. usually, after tapping it, I can get it to run for awhile to empty the water that has accumulated. I reached out to the company and they only offer a 30 day replacement- period! I wouldn't waste your money on this piece of crap. Spend a little more and get a unit that works all the time. I wished I had done that.

Needs a little help then very good
At first the hose would cause it to flip and end up on its side. On its side it would shut off, it needed a broader base so I got a frissbee , cut a matching hole then zip tied it to the pump. Now the pump would stand upright all the time. Then when there was a strong wind the weight of the hose would drag the pump out to the edge. I ended up tying a small rope on it. With the rope I could drag it to the center of the pool and it would stay. PERFECT the pump drained a 3 inch rainfall overnight and is still happily resting on the dry cover.

Inexpensive - You Get What You Pay For
This is an inexpensive and low-pressure pump. It is lightweight (tippy and suggests low build quality) and while I might be surprised, I don't imagine it will last year in and year out. Unlike other reviewers, on my unit, the float switch worked at the correct water level (starting automatically around 5/8" and stopping around 1/4"). The biggest issue I would flag for potential purchasers is the pump itself - it is not particularly strong (in my experience, though to be fair, I did not go looking hard for specifications). Think back to your high school physics and give a nod to Jean Léonard Marie Poiseuille and Daniel Bernoulli. If you need this pump to move water through a long (or narrow) hose, or against gravity (up a grade or from below ground), look elsewhere.

Fits great and works as described
the only thing is if they get cold the threads will break off with the hose.

only lasts two years
Great while it lasted.... took good care of and placed in storage when not it use. But... only lasted two years... best to buy a brand that is sturdy.

Easy to use and pumped pool down to about 1/4 inch.
Easy to use pump. Like the auto shutoff feature. Was on pool cover all winter and kept it pretty dry. Just used it to pump the last foot of water in the pool in preps for replacement of the pool. The trick is to make sure the pump stays upright when using it, easy to do once you get the trick of the hose placement etc. Fully recommend!

Poor quality....but company stand by their warranty which is great.
Very cheaply made. It lasted for few weeks and than the plastic pipe fitting which connects to the garden hose broke. I wouldn't waste my money on this again. 2/19/2016 I called Amazon and they provided me Blue Wave company's phone number to call. So, I called the company since their product has 1 year waranty. Customer service picked up the phone very quickly and she was very curteous. No question ask. They are sending a new pump to me free of charge. So...at least the company stand beside their warranty. Therefore, I am changing my rating from one star to 4 stars.

Easy to use
Worked well to drain the water off of the pool cover.

Pumps well but...
Tried to use this for a wet spot in basement. The pumping was sufficient and likely would have met my needs, but the point at which it turns on and off is practically the same. It would repeatedly turn on for a second or two, then shut off for a second or two, then on then off and so on.. The instructions show there should be about a half inch difference between the on and off levels, which would have been great, but that's not what I experienced. Perhaps I just received a bad one, but am returning not willing to try another.

Buyers' remorse ... nice when it works
I bought this product specifically to drain water in a shallow area where there wasn't alot of clearance for the float. This seemed like the perfect solution. When I tried it however, the float would attempt to activate the pump--which would unsuccessfully activate--as if the pump needed to be primed. I tried testing the pump out in a bathtub and got basically the same result. If I picked up the pump in the bathtub and tilted at different angles, it would only sometimes come on. Very disappointed.

Not GOOD
they don't engage until under 2" of water so sure they suck the water up, bu they ARE NOT low profile as advertised they are also so light they don't stay flat on surface

Poor Filter Media - Very Difficult to Clean
I purchased this pump primarily for the automatic start/stop option. While the automatic function worked well, the filter is a major flaw on this pump. Pine needles wreaked havoc on this filter with me spending upwards of half an hour trying to pull them out. Kept the pump two weeks and got fed up with having to clean the filter every 2nd day so returned it for another pump that could pump the pine needles. This pump also pumps extremely slow. The slow pumping is mitigated by the automatic start/stop however.

Useless little pump
This pump runs forever - it just doesn't like to pump water! The pump's filter is difficult to remove and clean - which you will need to do almost constantly as the smallest bit of debris will cause the pump to stop pumping. The pump is tiny. A single maple leaf will foul it. Save your money and buy a real pump, not this thing.
