This is not the automatic one. You have to turn it on each time there is water on the pool cover. It will not stand up on the cover. You have to hold it up.

This is a MANUAL pump, not an automatic pump. Nowhere on Amazon description does it say that it is manual. As it is for our pool cover, we absolutely need an automatic pump, not one that I have to go plug in and turn on each time there is water on the cover. Very disappointed. I am returning this today.
