A g-shock that fits on normal sized wrists
A nice tactical look. All the basic functions... with usual shortcoming of no current time in stopwatch mode.

A winner watch with one major shortcoming.
For nearly 5 decades I've been a dedicated Timex customer because of the reliability and longevity I once remember Timex watches having from my childhood. However, over the past 2 decades I've not been satisfied with the mediocre performance of Timex watches that I've had to repeatedly replace in only a year or two of use due to durability failures. Now I've purchased my first Casio watch and have had it for a few weeks, and I wish I converted over to Casio long before now. I'm not a big boned individual with large wrists, and this watch fits me wonderfully without being obtrusively large. The mineral crystal is crystal clear. Significantly clearer than the resin crystals used in several other watch brands. Additionally, the buttons are recessed nicely to prevent accidental button pushes when bending sharply at the wrist. Another frequent annoyance I've noticed with my now unreliable Timex watches. As I stand now, it appears Timex has permanently lost one of there customers to Casio. Update: I've now had this watch for four months. I still like it far more than any watch I've owned. The crystal is crystal clear, and it almost does everything it claims. The only thing I have a little disappointment with is in regards to self charging. I've learned the watch doesn't charge fast enough on its own while wearing it, and I've had to put the watch directly under a bright light for several nights in order for it to recharge to full after reaching the low power indicator. If the grid were to go down in a shtf moment, I'm not convinced this watch would survive without going dead in time. I pray I will never have to find out with that theory. 6 month update: Every part of this watch works wonderfully except for the battery. Now, after 6 months, the battery clearly isn't maintaining a charge. After charging the watch to full power under a light for several nights, if I wear it without additional light source intervention to charge the watch the watch goes completely dead in about 6 weeks. I'm now exploring my options. 8 month update: The battery now will not charge past 50% even after being left 6" under a 100 watt light for 2 weeks, and when I wear it the battery only lasts a couple weeks at best. I will now look into getting a replacement battery and let you know how it goes. 1 year update: Everything the watch does, it still does wonderfully except charging. It will not charge past 50%. I've turned off the auto illumination feature and the charge does last a little longer with it turned off, but it only allows the battery to last a few weeks longer at most before going dead. I've looked into and considered getting a new battery for it, but I've learned they aren't cheap. I've contacted Casio about 6 months ago regarding the issue and they responded back by asking me to send them the watch (at my total expense) with a prepaid return label, and if they find it is faulty they will repair it and send it back at no additional cost. However, if they find it faulty but feel it's due to operator error, they will repair it for an additional cost. This may be where my biggest disappointment rests in that Casio was unwilling to back up their product without presenting strings attached that it's at their discretion. The watch was purchased new by me, it wasn't abused in any manner nor was it exposed to high temperatures from lights or sunlight, however, in my opinion they were unwilling to do what was necessary to repair the watch in a manner that's comfortable and cost free for the consumer. Sending them the watch in their requested manner with a return label will cost me the same, if not slightly more, than if I were to simply purchase a new rechargeable battery for the watch (which is difficult to locate and Casio elusively avoided providing me with any details as to where I can get one despite my direct question), and if they make other repairs it may cost me more than it would for me to purchase an entirely new watch. All in all, I like the watch a lot, but when the battery goes dead for good I doubt I will get another rechargeable watch like this one. Bottom line, a solar watch that doesn't maintain charge isn't much of a watch.

Needed a little adjustment out of the box / tin. Now it's good to go.
*UPDATE* 1-23-16: This has been a pretty solid watch over the past year but the band is definitely showing signs of wear from everyday use. Also, the watch isn't keeping time faithfully, despite having a full charge the entire time I've had it. I don't know how often it loses time but, it definitely isn't accurate. It's usually off by a minute or two when compared to the clocks at school, even if I sync up with them it loses time throughout the school year. It's not a big deal because it is easy to reset the time, I just wasn't expecting to do it this often. Original Review: 8-24-14 This is a decent watch and it wasn't very expensive when I bought it. In the picture, the face looks blue in color, in person it is black. I was debating between getting the G2310R-1 or the newer version with the Atomic Time feature. However, that isn't the only difference. On the newer version, the buttons on the side of the watch are black and so is the button below the face of the watch that you use to illuminate the display. On this, older, version of the watch, the buttons on the sides of the watch are gray and the button below the face, to illuminate the display, is chrome with a red G in the middle. Personally, I think the newer version is the better looking watch plus it has the Atomic Time feature. When this watch arrived, it came carefully packed inside of a black tin that was packed in a black box. After opening the tin, I discovered that the battery charge was at Medium. I wouldn't recommend leaving it in a window to charge the battery, as recommended in the instructions. Just go outside on a sunny day and read a book for 30 minutes with the watched placed in direct sunlight. Voila! Fully charged. If it's cold outside, leave the watch out in the direct sunlight in an inconspicuous spot and go check on it in 30 minutes. The watch isn't heavy, but it is a little bulky. I have a 6 3/4" wrist and I wear this on the 6th hole in the loop. Fits fine. If I put it in the 5th hole in the loop, it leaves an indented mark all the way around my wrist. The watch was also about 40 seconds slow when I first got it. It was easy to fix and to set the correct time while setting my location as well. I used atomic time web site (http://time.gov/HTML5/) to set the watch to the correct time and it is now accurate. The only other default setting I changed was the length of time the display stays lighted when you push the G button to illuminate the display. I don't use any of the other features. I like that the watch is rugged and stands up well to abuse from regular day-to-day usage. Like I said earlier, I think that the newer version is nicer looking and it has the AT feature but, it is more expensive and, in order to use the AT feature, you have to place the watch in your window, in a certain position, facing a certain direction, so that it can sync with the closest atomic clock to your location. I don't imagine that you would have to do this very often but it does seem kind of silly to me. The one knock I've heard against the Casio G-Shock watches are that the bands and the batteries wear out. Well, nothing lasts forever! I will stick with this one until it fails, and then I will probably purchase another G-Shock to be my every day time piece.

3 stars is the best I can do
What I like about this watch that makes me smile Looks great Easy to read Comfortable to wear What I dislike about this watch Two full days in outdoor sunlight and power level won't go higher than medium ???? Hello returns department. UPDATE: nothing to see here, move along folks. It seems I was not reading the power level correctly. Back to a five star review. This is a great watch after all.

Worth the money.
Mineral glass, solar power, resin strap and a G Shock, all for less than £100. What’s not to like?

Quality watch at bargain price.
Great g shock for someone that likes a normal size watch. Not a oversized g shock and not tiny either. Awesome for an average everyday watch. Very comfortable. Solar is the best and hard to find at this price. If you found my review helpful please click the Helpful button below.

Looks and Durability!
I have a G-shock Rangemaster which I absolutely love. I've been wearing it non-stop for close to 8 years - durable, great functions and serves its purpose. Because I've had such a good experience with G-shock products, I bought this time-piece as an entry level watch for my son. The aesthetic is not for everyone. I was soo glad when he opened the gift - he loved it! It looks good, size isn't overbearing, clean look and it's solar! We'll see how this holds up - no doubt it will last as long as mine. As for the price point, if he wants something different down the road, I've got me a another G-shock!! Thank you for the great products Casio. A loyal customer for life!

Casiomen's solar watch
I am an avid outdoorsman and like the ruggedness of this watch. When I'm paddling a canoe across a wind swept lake I've no fear of banging the watch against the gunwales or getting it wet. It takes a beating and it is always charged and easy to read, even in the pitch dark of the tent at night or just waking up early in bed and seeing if i's time to get up yet. Great watch.

Great for security or any job hard on watches.
I am a security guard at a hospital and got frustrated when all my watches kept breaking. I have had this watch for almost a year and it has sustained a lot of abuse with no issues. Not having to replace batteries is convenient. This watch has also been in many pools and lakes with no problems. I would recommend this watch for policing, military, security, or any other job that requires a strong watch.
