A better Casio digital watch

I don't define myself by what I own or wear. That stuff is to serve me; I'm not its advertisement. I needed a replacement for a Casio electic analog cakendar watch that sits on my dresser ticking away with a broken strap. A replacement strap costs more than half the cost of the watch. I wrote down what didn't Iike about it. The proprietary band design was number one and negated the value of a 10 year battery. ( I still have a 1980s Casio digital on a replacement band. I replaced it when the calendar wouldn't auto update. )It had large hands I could easily see in low lighting but were impossible to see in the dark. It had a larger than needed domed plastic lens with large white patches at the sides that got a chip on the edge within a week of wear and many scratches soon after. It had a crown recessed within guard bars that made it difficult to re-set the time. It looked cheap. I liked its size, light weight,wr rating, battery life. So I looked forCasio watches that had everything I iiked, nothing I disliked and had prices under $30- twice the cost of the analog. I didn't want anything cheap looking or unweidy I didn't want a case that had high contrast white areas around the perimeter, especially not redundant ones, I couldn't remember what 4 buttons did. It would be nice to have at least one alarm,3 would be nicer. I needed a band that was either metal or with a standard width so WHEN it breaks long before the battery wears out, it could be replaced with better ine that would outlast the watch. Size was important. I have a boney 7-1/2" wrist. If a watch had an error of a 2 minutes in 6 month, itks good enough. It didn't need to be mutilzone or set setting. Size was important. I have boney 7-1/2" wrists. I needed a watch that I could wear 24x7 anywhere, for dress or casual, was easy to use and didn't draw attention to itself., and didn't look cheap if someone saw it. All that came close were digital non-sports watches. The trick was finding the model with the most necessary and useful features for the price. The W800 series does. It's lightweight, approximately the same thickness as my previous watch. Its stepped case seems more likely to deflect a striking object. from hitting the lens. The flat lens makes it possible to apply a screen protector film. It has is a display that's cleanly organized, easy to read at day and possible to read the time at night, a 10 year battery, and a 10 bar static pressure rating. The lugs 18mm apart and would work with many standard bands. The outer case has only one word that's recess-molded in it. It has an alarm. The only thing it's missing, like too many battery watches, is the battery type engraved on the caseback. I won't have the manual in 7 years, and it would be nice to be able to order a new battery before opening the case. Given the price and how well it does everything else, I can live without those features. I bought the grey metallic W800HG-9AV, which looks like sandblasted titianium. I'm very happy I did.

What I expected, but still disappointed.

This watch has an easy to read screen, a few good features and is a great price. However, I cannot get over the size as 37mm is just too small. A few of the watch's features include dual time, stopwatch, and an alarm. This model has a single green LED that does work well, but I thought it was duel illumination. A note on the 10 year battery life, the instructional manual states that 10 years is based on a single light application per day, which is ridiculous. I did not test the water resistance and the scratch resistance is terrible with every bump guaranteed to leave a mark. I did consider models W-800H-1AVCF "Classic Sport Watch" and W-800H-1BVCF "Casio Black Out" which are the same size, 37mm, with a different case color or display (negative). I chose W-800HG-9AV due to price at $20 total. My goal was to get a watch now and buy a better watch later, knowing the 37mm size may be a problem, then gift the Casio away. I do not feel I have big wrists and was unable to measure before buying this model. This product works, but I would not recommend it based on the size alone.

Functionality on your wrist, a time keeping gem. ????????

The media could not be loaded. In an age where it seems everyone has a smart watch, I decided to daily wear this Casio W800HG-9AV. So far, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I hated the feeling of my Apple Watch constantly telling me: “Look at me! Look at me! I need your constant attention because you have a new notification!”. Now the only reason I look at my wrist is if I genuinely need to use any of this watches features or to admire the stylish 90’s vibe this watch gives off. Speaking of features, this watch is perfect for the tinkerers that love to modify their tech. Carefully taking apart and making tiny modifications to the watch module can unlock even more complications such as: a countdown timer and even multiple alarms (warning: these modifications require a steady hand as the module and parts for this watch are extremely small, but are easy enough to do. YouTube tutorials will be your best friend). Within the first few minutes of receiving my watch, I took it apart and did a modification to add the countdown timer complication. That increased the value/functionality of this watch by tenfold and I believe the value you get for the price of this watch is already unmatched. I haven’t taken this watch off since receiving it unless I’m going to shower even if that’s unnecessary with it’s 100 meters of water resistance. Yes, it does less than the Apple Watch can, but I found keeping a simple yet functional time piece that isn’t constantly begging for your attention through constant notifications has been great and at the price point of $23.62 (higher than what I’ve seen some people pay for it, but inflation in 2023 is what it is), there’s not much more you could ask for. I’ll be wearing this watch until it no longer works and with an established brand like Casio, that could be 10+ years. A great purchase for anyone needing a functional and stylish time piece that looks straight out of the 90’s.

Great watch but watch band has poor life

I have had 4 or 5 of this watch over the years. It is very functional and keeps accurate time. Actually, much better than my son”a expensive Tolex watch. My gribe is that the watch band fails after a year or so. A replacement band costs also as much as a new watch. So I buy a new watch and have a fresh battery and new warranty. Should my watch fail, I have several in my desk that still work great so I can put the working band on my backup watch. ???? I enjoy this $20 something watch!

I bought it for myself. It’s easy to set up. Haven’t had a digital watch for years. My previous watch was getting to difficult to alter the time by the winder and was losing time.

El MEJOR Casio económico

Me gustó mucho este Casio W800 y es justo el que buscaba, ya que este viene con bordes de color Dorado y Rojo y la pantalla es un poco más oscura color miel que el más conocido que tiene bordes en azul y fondo del display gris. Llevo dos semanas con el puesto y ha sido excelente. Me encanta la visibilidad y tener en un mismo lugar día, fecha, hora, y año (por si se me Olvida). Se lo recomiendo para la gente mayor o con problemas de visión. Mucha mejor opción que el F91w y mejor luz. La correa de resina no creo que dure más de un año pero así son estos modelos. Simplemente cuando se rompa le cambias por una económica de las de nato o resina ($2 a 4 dólares en AliExpress) y tienes reloj para 10 años.

Simple, yet it does the job.

As an electrician, I needed a non-metallic, reliable, easy to read and operate wristwatch. Unlike my smart smatch, I don't need to worry about charging it every day. The material doesn't feel light and cheap, its got some weight to it. Its large display is easy to read. I definitely recommend it.

Muy buen reloj

Muy lindo, se ve que está bien construido y se siente de excelente calidad. Dice que resiste 100m de profundidad, no tengo la capacitación para comprobarlo, pero por lo pronto la regadera sí aguanta. Un poco mas grande y tosco de lo que esperaba, pero cómodo (soy mujer con muñecas algo delgadas). Excelente calidad por el precio, espero que me dure muchos años.

Fun un regalo para mi esposo, tiene 4 años que lo compré y hasta la fecha funciona perfectamente. Sin duda es un reloj que aguanta de todo. Despues de estos 4 años solamente he tenido que cambiar la batería 1 vez.
