Such a good idea!
Sometimes it's just the simplest inventions that make you ask yourself "how did I manage without this?" I make a lot of corn salsa and was always having to slice the corn off the cob with a knife. Although it wasn't that big of a deal it did cause the corn to take off in all directions as it hit the board. The other problem was I didn't always maximize the kernels with the cuts. This is a great little contraption that gets the corn as close as it could be without cutting the husk. I have run into a couple of issues. Firstly it is really hard sometimes to get the cutting started. I have small hands and not a great grip. Also when its started things get very slippery. I have found it also hard to remove it from the cob when it gets to the end. Some cobs I can get through no problem and fast. Others not so much. Overall though it cuts down on waste and the kernels looks very unified.

Changed My Life
OK, it didn't actually change my life, but it did make a major improvement! I honestly didn't think this would work, but it does. It's like magic. Takes literally 20 seconds and comes out perfectly every time. I've been eating corn every day since I got this and I bought two other ones for gifts. It is a bit tricky to clean but I found a brush that does the job.

Too large to get all the kernels.
Its a simple device, but the blade hole is too large. When you run it down the cob, it slices the kernels tops off. Doesn't get close enough to the corn cob. I think the ones that look like pliers probably work better. For now, I am back to using a sharp knife.

Takes a little bit of elbow grease, but it doesn't a good job
For cooked corn on the cob, be prepared to deal with HOT corn! For 3/4 of the way, this removes the kernels quite efficiently. I found that a twisting and pulling technique works great. However, once the corn cob reaches towards the end, it takes a lot of strength to finish the job. I also tried this with uncooked corn on the cob, and at least it didn't burn my fingers. Again, towards the end of the cob, it became hard work to finish the job. I kinda like this tool, but it's not as fabulous as I would've hoped for.

This is the one!
After using just a knife and trying many devices this stripper was the best. Simple to use, gets all the kernels, and easy to clean up. Just push while turning and all the kernels fall into a bowl as opposed to propping up the cob, slicing, and having the kernals fly all over the cutting board.

Great product
I bought this as I grow my own corn and every year I'm pushed for space in the freezer, so I figured stripping the corn first would help. Doing it with a knife is laborious and hardly worth the effort, so I tried this. It works exactly how you would hope it would. It quickly and efficiently strips a cob in seconds. The serrated blade, whilst not actually sharp, does a good job so all you have to do is apply a small amount of pressure, twist and the kernels fly off. My only criticism is that the plastic is difficult to grip if you're using it for more than one cob. I had to keep rinsing it so that my hand didn't keep slipping. But apart from that it was perfect. I'm not one for kitchen gadgets but this is a must if you intend to use it.
