Very puncture resistant
I had one of these on my road bike for 6 months, during that time I got one flat (one of those small pokey bits of metal from car radial tires) and that was it. Even got 7 goatheads and just pulled them out. I must also say that I use a Mr Tuffy Lite tire liner too. The only negative I found about these tires it that they are VERY hard to get on and off.

The HARDEST SEATING OF BEAD ever.
I like this tire, A lot. This is my 3rd one. I have been running 700x23mm before.. They are tough, grippy, a little ugly, and lasting and protects from flats. Just got the 28mm for my new rim a few days ago. said it was in back order but they got it to me quick. a few days previously expected. anyways back to the tire. Nice tire, new, thought mounting was going to be cake walk like the others I had and mounted before. . . . . . .. . 1 hour Later, finally got the 0)(##()$* on. Thumbs are sore, exhausted. I thought I was going to return the thing a few times. I mounted it once, twice, re-positioned my rim tape twice to make sure it was perfect and not on the side at all...... Mounted a 3rd... still could not get the tire to sit right in 1-2 spots not matter how i worked it, repositioned it.....checked online about tips... "soap and water" ... Hell i'll give it a try. remounted a 4th no luck... Took the dam thing off. soaked the tire with mass amounts of suds and soapy water and the inside of the rim. mounted as quick as possible and aired it up... almost one more spot to sit, deflated the tube, drenched the spot with soap again and aired it up quick again and BLAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY GOT IT. Never had an experience like this mounting a tire like this before at the shop i work at or with previous tires. Meh. The bike had a hop in the ride when not seated properly so if you get this or any other tire that is a trouble maker hit it with a lot of soap and water around the spot then air it up quickly as possible to get it seat. I love this tire but not perfect. slippy in the rain and ugly. Needs color options and a stronger side wall. Still it's my go to tire for nasty debris in the riding path and commuting.

Used these tires for years, very happy overall
I have used these Gator tires for years and have been very happy with them. Occasionally they get sliced and need replacing, but it is rare given the number of miles I riade.

Great tires.
It was my first time installing tires on my bike. If I could install them, then you could do it as well. My bike now feels totally different with these new road tires — much better. German made tires, well worth the money. You have to pay almost double if you go to your local bike shop — for tires+installation.

Not puncture resistant
After riding on them for only the second time on road, a nail punctured them. The mail went into the tire and out the sidewall of the tire. Very disappointed because I have had nothing but issues with bike tires and was hoping for the best. I must have the worst luck!

Tough tires!
Just received and mounted two of these tires for some city riding. I live in New Mexico and there is always a problem with thorns in the road so I figured these should do the trick. On mile three of the first ride with these installed I got a flat in the front tire. Initially I thought it was a faulty tube as that was new and the tube had a few holes upon roadside inspection. Instead of patching them up I walked my bike back to my house and pulled the tire to inspect it under good lighting. There were several thorns that broke off and made it through the tire and into the tube. The thorns were removed and the tube replaced. Shelling out $100 for a pair of these tires is starting to feel like it was a bad idea. I will update my review in a few days. **UPDATE 27 SEP 2016** There have been zero incidents since my initial flat on these tires. I have rode approximately 200 miles on city streets, sidewalks, and the occasionally unavoidable dirt patches. My tires are inspected after every ride and there have been MANY thorns and stickers stuck in the tread but unable to make it to the tube. The road gripping ability of the tire is very good as I have had to hard brake several times to avoid vehicles, bikes, animals, and large tumbleweeds. After everything I will give it four stars due to that first day flat that required me to walk my bike home in the rain.

Strong after 2 years and no flats!
I've primarily used these tires for commuting. And the occasionally 50 mile ride here in Los Angeles where the road bike pathways are quite lengthy and accessible. Not once yet have I gotten a puncture or flat. As I have read the reviews you can tell they are nearing their life cycle when you see the inner threads. Thankfully I'm not to that point just yet. However I might get there with these hill rides that push you downhill at high descent speeds. Another thing I have added is thorn proof inner tubes. So my bike at first felt a bit heavy to pedal and ride. But with a couple of rides I adjusted to it. Was a pain to get them mounted with the durable tubes but like another review mentions. You get a damn good mileage out of them and they're worth it.

Best road bike tire out there
Bought this one as a spare, but these are the most durable road bike tires out there. I have 2 of them on my bike right now and they are still going strong after over 1000 miles. They are no where near tread indicators right now.

Puncture proof but slow
These Tyres are very tough and high quality, you get that the moment you handle them. The tread pattern is pretty light and they look pretty much bald when it comes ti grip. But grip is also a function of the composition and properties of the rubber compound used. Since I’ve had these I’ve thankfully not had any more punctures so far, so my main agenda item was met. Sadly though I’ve slowed down behind my cycling buddies as the rolling resistance has gone up, this is noticeable and my ave speed has gone down about 1mph which is a lot for a road biker. Well you can’t have it all, and for winter bike with puncture protection these are very good. I wouldn’t use on a summer road bike, your better with tubeless setup for that with faster tyres

Strong tyre, hoping it'll go the distance!
After a season of continual punctures with my Continental 4 Seasons, I thought to order this tyre and so far so good! It really feels sturdy, strong and well made on my rear wheel! I've had one ride so far and I'm hoping to clock up many more miles. I may also purchase this same tyre for my front wheel but my current setup is working fine (front-wheel: 700c, 25" Continental 4 Season / Rear-wheel: 700c, 28" Continental Gator Hardshell) - so let's see how it goes!!
