Will do the job after sharpening the almost non-existent cutting edge.

While it states that it is "self-sharpening" I can confirm that if thats the case it would take years as the edge on the one I received was ground on the front but not on the back. The front grind had barely any width removed so the handle end of a butter knife would be sharper. After having this unit meet my bench grinder for 10 minutes or so it can now cut the sod like it is supposed to. The original edge geometry was more suited for a wall hanger display. The cutter overall is solidely built with a soft grip handles. Just remember you may have to sharpen it yourself. And by the way it would have taken forever if using a file.

It’s a toss up

This bad boy will get the job done for sure but you’ve got to put in the work. There’s no denying you’ll get a beautiful, edged lawn with this. However, it will take some work getting there. Your body weight is needed with this one and some carefully placed balance otherwise you’ll be falling over. Slow and steady is the key. You have to force the blade into the dirt then put your body weight onto it and wiggle it back and forth. If you have rocky soil like I do it’s a battle to see who will win. Ultimately, I did but it was a fight. This guy was sturdy and hung in there. I’m no skinny mini and don’t order a salad on a date if ya know what I mean. So this tool can stand the test of time. If you have a less than stellar lawn like I do and are trying to make it better, order this bad boy to edge it.

Great shovel does the job

I looked at a few different shovels of this kind used for edging specifically. I chose this because of the way it looked the price and some of the reviews. The shovel itself came in a very large box it is very easy to use and the edges are nice and sharp. I had no problem digging right into the semi hard dirt by my walkway. I like how comfortable it is and how it makes it easy to dig in a strait line. I would definitely recommend this shovel worked well made digging easy and the handle is very comfortable no down side for me worth the price and very happy with the purchase.

If the dirt is wet....

If the dirt is wet, it works great! Dry dirt, not so much! Very good on wet dirt though.

I wish I would have wait for my first choice.

The design of the tool allows it to easily cake up with mud. It wasn't hard to remove the mud, but, it wasn't easy either.

Best manual edger I have ever used!

It was so easy to assemble. And once assembled, it was very sturdy. Great price, great comfort and it does a fantastic job. Very pleased with my purchase.

Great quality edger

I replaced a 50 year old edger that broke with this. The comfort handle and ability to put both feet on the tool helped tremendously. Very sturdy and I expect my grandkids will be using for years to come.
