Packed in styrofoam
Baking stone came intact, but it was encased in styrofoam! Now there are little bubbles of styrofoam floating all around. Cuisinart should change what they wrap this product in.

Exactly What I Needed
I use pizza stones throughout the years, and I bought this one to replace the cracked one I have in my outside pizza oven. It's even better than the old one. Some of my (indoor) stones are too thick to heat properly -- they can take an hour to get fully hot -- but this one is neither too thin nor too thick. In the pizza oven, it's ready to go after 30 minutes and may even get fully hot before that. If you've never before used a pizza stone: Never wash with either soap or water. The stone is porous and will absorb those. The water can crack the stone when it expands with heat, and the soap can flavor future pizzas. Simply scrape clean after use. Yes, the stone will get stained over time, but it won't pose a health hazard. Also, pizza stones need to be preheated, started in a cold oven to prevent cracking, and must get fully hot to ensure a crisp bottom. -- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

Affordable, basic pizza stone
I wasn't in the market for an expensive pizza stone - I'm not sure what you get when you pay more? I have had a few of these (I keep dropping then and breaking them) and this one seems very good. It's a good size, although if you're planning to make an XL pizza, this probably isn't for you. It seems solid enough (don't drop it) and easy enough to clean. I recommend this if you're looking for a basic, affordable pizza stone.

Pizza stone
Love this product. Kids love making their favorite pizza and cooking it on the BBQ grill. Not easy to clean if sauce gets on the stone. It stains. I used foil after the first mistake.

Had a smell for the first couple times of use
It smelled for probably the first 6 times we used it. Works well though and doesnt burn the bottom. we also use it for cookies and rolls of all types.

Not bad quality and function
It seems to make pizza crust crispier 30%. Easy to get dirty and hard to clean but I do not care its appearance but functionality. It also reduce pizza oven time by two minutes. A good addition to home pizza makers.

Superb ! Use corn meal under the pizza - best pizza ever !
Superb ! Figured out my oven was off by 15 degrees - so it's important to calibrate your oven ! I put a light coating of dry corn meal on the stone - and let it preheat in the oven. Then add the pizza. Cripsy, crusty -- delicious pizza. I buy a 4 pack of the breadcrumb crust pizza from the big "C" club for $12 - and add my own toppings. This pizza rivals regular pizza shops. This stone is perfect for small pizzas. I read to never put it in water. Just scrap it off with a plastic scraper - and store it in the oven -- it won't hurt for it to be in there even when you're baking other stuff. Over time, it will become "aged" from the pizza and that makes it even more perfect. NEVER coat it with oil -- just the corn meal.

Warning!!!! This stone is 3/8" thick not 3/4"!!!!!
Get a ruler Cuisinart. The thickness of this stone is .385 " on a caliper. If you want to include the small raise rings on bottom in is .40". it should measure .75" based on description. If you think you are getting something thick think again. Bought 2 of these thinking for the $ I could put them side by side in the grill (without sacrificing thickness)rather than buying one of the large square or rounds that were more expensive. I expected them to be relatively close to the stated thickness. We will see what the seller does from this point on. Thought I would share a more accurate description so others don't go through the hassle of getting something unexpected and having to return it. Update: After a couple emails finally got contact with seller Beach Camera by waiting on hold 20 minutes. When told the product they are selling didn't match description was told I could send it back. So far so good. Would receive prepaid FedEx shipping in email in a day or so. Okay. Received instructions and shipping info. The nearest acceptable FedEx drop off location is 29 miles from where I live. It's a 2 hour round trip and $15 in gas to send back. I asked how this was an acceptable scenario in an email. I was told if I can track down and stop a FedEx driver, show them my email that says it's okay, and get them to scan the email and box that would work. I guess I'll drive around for the next couple weeks with it in my car and hope for the best. May all be a lost cause. All because I thought I'll save $1 and buy 3rd party instead of prime. Never again! Avoiding this is what I'm paying Amazon prime for. If you still want to get this product. Buy it through some one else, other than Beach Camera, unless you have an approved FedEx drop off nearby. 6/12/2015 I asked beach camera to discount the product as it wasn't as described and there wasn't a reasonable way to get it back to them. They knocked $5 off the stones. That was a nice gesture. Between that and the hassle and cost of sending it back I decided to keep these and get something better later. The stones themselves are cleanly made. They worked as I expected. First pizzas had okay(not great but passable) results with crisping the bottom of a very thin crust Tuscan style pizza I am trying to replicate. It's almost like a cracker crust, but to top is very wet because of the san marzano's and fresh mozz. Second pizza limp and no crisp what so ever. There just isn't enough thermal mass to maintain temp and absorb the moisture. Will most likely have to wait 10 minutes or so for stones to get up to temp. Not ideal for a family of 4.

If you like pizza - use a pizza stone
Works well - just heat in oven when preheating for boxed pizza, slide pizza on, bake according to box instructions, slide pizza off. Makes a nice crust on pizza. Store stone in oven on bottom rack, even when using oven for other things - no need to take it in & out of oven.

perfect for what i use them
In the first picture you see the pizza oven I build to get the idea what I am talking about. In the second picture you see how it looks like when the fire is down and the oven has about 300 Celsius. Takes about 2 hours. In the beginning i tried to put the pizza directly on the hot stone. I say try because when i got lucky it worked perfect. Unfortunately out of 8 tries 3 winners. The other times the pizza ended either in the fire or on the ground.....very frustrating. So I looked for a solution and voila...You see the results in the other pictures. Anyway I have to say something regarding the product reading all the bad reviews. Most of the pizza stones come in that special rock called corditorite. There are a few rules you need to follow: 1. Some people complain about a smell. - They don't. What you smell is the burning stuff in you el. oven from former cooking/baking and then not well cleaned for the high temparature (minimum 250 Celsius) you need to bake a pizza. This is what you smell or the smoke coming from. 2. Stains. - Ya they do stain when cheese or tomato sauce drops on the stone. Not a biggie at all. Just scrape them and leave the stains be. 3. Oil. - No seasoning and no oil what so ever. Especially not olive oil since olive oil is a NO-High temperature oil. Don't even pour it on you pizza. You ruin it....the pizza and the stone. Olive oil starts smoking already at low temperature. How do I get this wisdom?...Experience. which is making mistakes and learning from it.... 4. Cracked stones. - Well if you put a hot stone on cold surface it might crack. Also...there is no cutting pizza on those stones. Because they definitely crack. No matter the thickness of the stone. I used those thin stones, because I am not preheating them. The Oven stones (that is where the fire is) are getting so hot, they instantly heating the thinner pizza stones withing minutes and more over, evenly. Yes they cool quicker than the thicker stones but i take the pizza anyway off the stone right away and even better.... eat it right away. I believe they same rules will apply for the el. Oven. Come Wintertime and i can't use the Pizza oven then I will figure that out too. So....since all 8 Pizzas turned out the way you see in the other pictures I give the product a 5 star review. If something changes I get back to you.

Have had one before and love it

Perfect substitute for an outdoor pizza oven
I was debating on getting a pizza oven “attachment” for the barbecue, but thankfully I tried this first. A fraction of the cost of a pizza oven and so much easier to store!
