This finish is a little lighter than we expected & the top is solid
For rubbed bronze the color is a little light however, in our case, it goes perfectly with our wood finishes. The top plate is brass and was purchased because people often back dining room chairs onto it. So far so good it is holding up without blemish. The plastic vent mechanism below makes no noise and is fully adjustable. We just hope it stands the test of time.

Really nice register cover, looks very good with great price!
This register cover looks very nice in my newly remodeled bathroom. Decided to spend a little more for the solid brass. It is very sturdy and appears to be a good quality product. I'm very pleased with it. As stated in the product description, this register does not come with the open/close function. For me, that's not an issue since I never close mine. I would recommend this product.

Definitely worth the extra money.
Just purchased 10 of these for our house. We wanted something heavier than the standard stamped sheet metal floor register in case anyone ever stepped on one of them. If you go to Decor Grates website these are listed under their "elite collection" of grates and are made from "solid brass". These are heavier and made from a cast material, but they are not that heavy duty. If you scratch them, the underlying material does appear to be brass. The register below the grate is plastic and has a separate plastic piece that slides back and forth to cover the vent openings. The plastic register is a good design and does not look like it can ever detach or break. The register does not whistle or make any noise when air flows through it. The plastic register is attached at both ends of the grate but is not connected in the middle. This allows some of the grates to bow in the middle and not sit flat on the floor. I was able to take the plastic register off and bend the grate to make it flat. The color in the picture is accurate. The design and color look great with our hardwood floors. I just wish they were a tiny bit thicker and heavier. Overall they are definitely worth the extra money over the less expensive Decor Grates that we saw at Home Depot.

Beautiful and sturdy but noisy!
We purchased two of these to replace some wooden grates that were cracked. It closely matches the rest of the brass grates in our home, so that was good. Installation was simple. The first time the AC came on, though, it sounded like a whirlwind! We eventually moved them to another room where the noise is tolerable.

It's not like made in America
Well at least I am making it in to a vent to go on the bottom of a project it won't be where people can see it. Plus the plastic will be removed. Wish things were made like they use to be.

Fanatastic looking, but causes loud airflow.
I really love the look of the vent. I installed mine in a remodeled cabin and they look elegant, but rustic. BUT. Be forewarned, that the way the diverters work, there is a lot of plastic where the airflow is - so much, it causes the airflow to make a louder noise than your basic vent. I installed them and I hardly noticed it at first since I don't live there full time, but my HVAC said "did you know your AC system is loud because of your vents?" And sure enough, after prying off the plastic diverters off the bottom of these things, the airflow was dead silent, and I can hardly tell when the system is on or off.

A well made register that looks good in a dark colour. It would be better if the vent system (made of plastic) would not open and close so easily.

Nice grate. Solid brass construction (between 3/32" and 1/8" thick) for the face plate and plastic louver. Beautiful finish.
