Save Your Money

This product arrived with three problems: 1. The mounting cushions were too big for most of my watch bands. I have an average wrist size; only if I left the deployant buckles open (which would not be good for them) would some of my watches fit. How does a design like that get to production? 2. One of the winders was not turning. Was there any quality control? 3. The seller claimed to have tested the unit before shipping. That explained why the transformer was missing from the carton and had to be shipped seperately after I complained. Anyway, that was all for nothing, because this unit was returned to the seller, who was very gracious about it.

Bad design, makes noise after a while (see my update)

Since most watch winders are kept in the bedroom (at least I would imagine that's the case), they need to be quiet. No one wants to hear the winder during the night. So I was thrilled when I turned this one on and it made very little noise. I didn't give it five stars, however, for a couple of reasons. First, the surrounds of each individual winder, which looks like wood in the photo, is actually plastic--very disappointing for a winder that costs this much. Second, the door is loose and rattles with the slightest vibration--just walking by it makes it rattle. I took care of this by adding a piece of adhesive felt on the back of the locking nodule, but once again, you shouldn't have to improvise a solution to a problem for a winder in this price range. One other minor quibble with the product, which says the interior is suede--it's actually a fabric that looks like suede. That being said, it's an attractive item, and if it hold up and continues running silently, I'll be completely satisfied. Update: Forget what I said about this being quiet. After a couple of months, it started making noise. But worse of all, the watches can sometimes fall out. I have to use the cushions rather than the inserts because unless you have a huge wrist, your watch won't fit around the inserts. Imagine my horror to come home one day and see my Omega watch being tumbled around inside the case. Additional update: only three of the nine winders work now. Will never buy this brand again.

A definite maybe...

I have two of these. Yes the winders pull out easily from the back board and the holders are a bit fidgety but of my 10+ watch winders these models are the only ones that fit my biggest watches and they hold the watch vertical to wind watches with slightly less sensitive rotors. Plus I got them at a bargain price. Would I buy them at full price? No. But if you can get them on sale and you're handy enough to work around some of the small issues these can be a good buy.
